This walkthrough is for the 2001 Windows PC game Barbie: Secret Agent, not the separate Game Boy Advance naming trail sometimes associated with “Royal Jewel Mission.” The most detailed route available is LOZ64/Allison’s player-authored GameFAQs guide, updated May 4, 2002. Use it as a practical historical guide rather than current, officially verified support.
Barbie’s investigation begins in New York after fabric disappears from a fashion show. The case expands to stolen dye, a special stone, and a rare plant, eventually pointing to a culprit named Chamelion. Progress is mostly linear: speak with characters, search each location for clues, change movement modes for the obstacle in front of you, and use the correct Bracelet Menu gadget when an ordinary interaction is not enough.

Before you start: which Barbie game this covers
The instructions below describe the Windows PC CD adventure released in 2001. A specialist retailer identifies that edition as a Mattel-published game for Windows, with travel to places including New York, Paris, Egypt, Tokyo and the Himalayas. Present-day operating-system compatibility, disc availability and prices are not established here, so check your own computer, disc condition and seller return policy before buying an original copy.

A 2018 video search result labels one episode as a Paris walkthrough and describes the game as having sixteen missions. That mission count appears only in third-party video copy, not an official specification, so it should not be treated as a confirmed total.

Controls and the three movement modes
LOZ64/Allison summarizes the control model this way: “The game uses the keyboard keys to move and the mouse button to click on things and use tools.” In practical terms, keyboard movement gets Barbie along the 3D paths, while the mouse handles conversations, objects, Bracelet Menu tools and most puzzle interactions.

Basic movement
- Up: move forward.
- Down: move backward.
- Left and Right: turn Barbie.
The game places Barbie on guided paths in a 3D environment. If you steer the wrong way, the guide says she corrects her course, but corners can still trap her. When movement appears stuck, back away from the corner, turn until the path is centered, and approach again rather than repeatedly holding a direction against the obstacle.
Changing modes at the right moment
Adventure is the default for talking and searching. Switch to Action before a jump, a run across exposed ground or a laser section. Switch to Stealth before entering a guard’s patrol area or a camera-controlled corridor. A mode change is not a cosmetic choice: the same Spacebar input produces a jump in Action and a roll in Stealth.

Most apparent dead ends are solved by pairing the location with the appropriate tool. Open the Bracelet Menu with the mouse, choose the gadget, and use it while Barbie is close enough to the relevant guard, object or clue.
Compact
Use the compact when a guard’s sight line blocks the route. The guide describes it as a temporary stun, not a permanent removal. Activate it near the guard’s line of sight, then move through immediately while the effect lasts. If Barbie is detected before the gadget takes effect, retreat out of the sight cone, reposition and try again rather than waiting in the open.
Spy Puppy
Send the Spy Puppy into narrow areas Barbie cannot enter or use it to distract a guard. Its movement uses the same directional controls, and Spacebar lets it jump. Treat it as a remote-controlled scouting and distraction tool: enter the small passage, move the puppy toward the target, and use the opening it creates to advance Barbie.

Pink Vision Glasses
Wear the glasses when the scene seems to contain no usable clue. They reveal hidden objects or symbols that are invisible in the normal view. Search the entire nearby area after activating them; a clue can be attached to an ordinary-looking prop rather than placed in the center of the room.

Clue-Decoder
The Clue-Decoder appears when Barbie examines a locked object. It launches a puzzle rather than opening the object automatically. Read the visual clues first, then manipulate the pieces methodically; the guide includes sliding-picture, rotating-piece and symbol-based puzzles, so do not assume that every lock uses the same solution.
Outfit Changer
The Outfit Changer selects Barbie’s outfit for mode changes. The guide lists it as a tool but does not assign it a separate advantage in the tool notes. Use it when the game requests an outfit or mode change instead of expecting it to stun guards or reveal clues.
Wrist Glider
Save the Wrist Glider for the final Himalayas sequence. The guide directs Barbie to use it to reach a ledge, then continue quickly. If the ledge is inaccessible, confirm that you are at the final Himalayas interaction and have selected the glider rather than trying to jump it in Action mode.
General investigation routine
- Talk to every nearby character. Conversations supply the clues that make later objects meaningful, and a location can remain apparently empty until the required conversation is complete.
- Inspect the route and the map. Look for side buildings, guards, cameras, unusual windows and objects that do not match the surrounding scenery.
- Choose the mode for the obstacle. Adventure handles ordinary movement; Action handles jumps; Stealth handles detection zones and rolls.
- Try the matching gadget. Compact for a temporary guard stun, Spy Puppy for narrow spaces or distractions, and Pink Vision Glasses for concealed evidence.
- Use the decoder on locked objects. Once a lock prompts the Clue-Decoder, solve the presented puzzle instead of searching for a conventional key.
- Move on only after checking the evidence. Photograph or inspect a clue when the game offers that interaction; otherwise a later door or travel point may not activate.
New York walkthrough
Training Room: learn the three modes
The New York route begins in the Training Room. Complete the introductions to Adventure, Action and Stealth before selecting New York. This short practice is important because the later route expects you to recognize whether Spacebar should make Barbie jump or roll.

Enter Action mode and use Forward plus Spacebar to jump across the boxes. Line Barbie up with the next landing point before pressing Spacebar; a running start is more reliable than jumping while angled toward an edge. If she catches on a corner, reverse slightly and center her on the path.

Speak with Teresa
After the opening crossing, talk to Teresa. Do not leave the area before completing the conversation: the New York investigation depends on the information she provides, and the next search route is built around that exchange.
Reach the fashion tent
Follow the route toward the fashion tent. A guard blocks progress, so remain outside the sight line, select the compact from the Bracelet Menu, and activate it when you are close enough to affect him. The stun is brief; pass through without stopping to examine unrelated scenery until you are safely beyond the guard.
Search the tent and nearby buildings
Once inside, inspect the fashion tent and the surrounding buildings for clues. Speak with available characters and click suspicious objects. If the area looks ordinary, switch to Pink Vision Glasses and sweep the walls, windows and props again. The guide treats this as an exploration phase, so do not expect one highlighted object to be the entire solution.
Photograph the window clue
A later New York step requires the camera to photograph a clue in a window. Position Barbie so the window is clearly in view, select the camera interaction and complete the photograph. If nothing happens, revisit nearby conversations and make sure the intended window—not a similar piece of scenery—has been targeted.
Open the building and solve the safe
The photographed evidence leads to a building that can then be opened. Inside, use the Clue-Decoder on the locked safe. The guide identifies this as a sliding-picture puzzle: move the pieces until the image is restored rather than trying to force a numeric combination. When the safe opens, collect the evidence and use the newly available travel point to continue to Paris.

Talk upstairs first
In the Paris passage documented by the guide, go upstairs and speak with the character there before attempting the guarded route. This conversation establishes the clue sequence for the area.

Stun the guard and enter Stealth
Use the compact on the guard, then change to Stealth mode. Entering in Adventure or Action makes the following detection section harder because the intended movement is a roll, not a jump.
Roll through three lasers
Hold Forward and press Spacebar to roll through the three lasers. Time each roll so Barbie crosses a beam while it is safe; do not chain the input blindly if the next beam is still active. Use the map’s enemy sight cone as well as the laser positions, because surviving the beams does not make an exposed guard route safe.
Navigate the maze
Continue through the maze in Stealth mode. Keep the map visible, move in short sections and pause at corners to check the sight cone. If Barbie is detected, retreat to the last safe turn and wait for the patrol to move rather than trying to outrun it in a straight line.
Solve the rotating-piece puzzle
The Paris route ends this documented section with a rotating-piece puzzle. Examine the complete clue before turning anything, then rotate one piece at a time and use matching edges or symbols to build a consistent image. This is a different puzzle type from the New York sliding safe, so applying the safe’s solution pattern will not help.

If the sequence is rejected, reactivate the glasses and verify that each symbol is being selected in the order shown rather than merely clicked as it appears on the dress. The important trigger is the dress interaction with Pink Vision enabled.

Himalayas finale: reach the ledge
At the final Himalayas stage, select the Wrist Glider and use it to reach the ledge indicated by the route. The guide then advises proceeding quickly. Treat this as a timed-feeling transition: once Barbie is on the ledge, keep moving along the intended path instead of stopping to test unrelated gadgets or backing into the previous area.
Detection and puzzle troubleshooting
Guards detect Barbie immediately
- Confirm that Stealth mode is active; Action mode’s Spacebar input jumps rather than rolls.
- Check the map’s sight cone and approach from outside it.
- Use the compact only when close enough to the guard, then move through before the temporary stun ends.
- Use the Spy Puppy if a narrow side route or distraction is available.
Cameras keep catching you
The guide’s specific camera advice is to walk directly underneath them. Move beneath the camera instead of crossing its visible front arc, and avoid stopping in the center of the monitored passage.
A clue or door does not activate
- Return to nearby characters and finish every available conversation.
- Inspect the object again in Adventure mode.
- Try Pink Vision Glasses if the clue is visually hidden.
- For a locked object, wait for the Clue-Decoder prompt instead of looking for a physical key.
- Check that a required photograph, such as the New York window clue, was completed.
Barbie gets stuck on geometry
Because the game uses guided 3D paths, corners can catch Barbie. Press Down to back away, turn with Left or Right until the route is centered, then move forward. Repeatedly holding Forward against the corner usually does not solve the alignment problem.

An original Windows PC CD is identified as a 2001 release. When evaluating second-hand media, check the platform, disc condition, whether the manual and packaging are included, the seller’s return terms, and compatibility with your particular Windows version and hardware. A listing for a physical disc does not prove that it will install or run on a modern computer, and current inventory and prices can change.
Do not confuse the PC game with Mattel’s 2016 Barbie Spy Squad Secret Agent Doll (product DHF17). That toy’s rolling G.L.I.S.S. gadget is separate franchise merchandise and has no role in completing the computer game.
What this walkthrough can—and cannot—verify
The route, controls and gadget uses above come from the 2002 player guide, not from a current playthrough or an official manual. They are therefore best used as attributed instructions for the original PC release. Hardware compatibility, retailer stock, modern installation behavior and any changes caused by running the game through contemporary system software require checking for the specific computer and copy you own.
