It launched on October 22, 2024, and DC lists Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S as its supported platforms. It is a different game from 2016’s Batman: Arkham VR.
What is Batman: Arkham Shadow?
Batman: Arkham Shadow is an Arkham-franchise game developed by Camouflaj and published by Oculus Studios, according to DC’s official game page. DC lists its on-sale date as October 22, 2024, so it is a released game—not an upcoming announcement.
It is designed exclusively for VR. DC lists Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S as the supported platforms; the page does not list PlayStation VR or other platforms.
What is the story and how does it play?
DC describes a Gotham City under attack over the Fourth of July. Batman must stop the Rat King and his followers from carrying out the so-called Day of Wrath. The characters DC names include Jim Gordon, Harvey Dent, Ratcatcher, and Dr. Quinzel and Dr. Crane, before they become Harley Quinn and Scarecrow.

DC characterizes the fighting as Arkham-style combat adapted for VR, with familiar gadgets and fighting styles. Camouflaj also described its work as recreating classic Arkham combat and traversal for VR. Those are the creators’ descriptions; they do not establish how the game feels in practice. Camouflaj described the released game as strictly single-player in its October 22, 2024 launch update.
What headset do you need?
According to DC’s platform listing, you need a Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S to play. If you already own one of those headsets, check the official Meta Quest listing for current local price and availability. If you do not own compatible hardware, the headset is a separate physical purchase; the game itself is a digital purchase.

Camouflaj reported a launch price of $49.99 USD for people who already owned compatible hardware in 2024. That is historical launch pricing, not a verified current price. Store pricing and availability can vary by territory and change over time.

No. Batman: Arkham Shadow is a separate game from Batman: Arkham VR. Rocksteady announced the earlier game in 2016 as a PlayStation VR exclusive; its announcement described it as a new Batman story set in the Arkham universe. The two titles share the Arkham setting, but the earlier game is not Arkham Shadow.
