That figure and the reported side effect come from CharlieIntel, quoted by Insider Gaming; they were not confirmed in an official incident post among the sources available.
What happened in the Warzone Ranked update?
On June 11, 2025, Insider Gaming reported that Activision had released an update to address a Season 04 placement problem: some players had started the season at a lower rank than intended. The report reproduced a statement from Call of Duty news account CharlieIntel saying the correction credited players with the SR difference, “up to +5K SR,” and sent a number of them into Top 250.
The reported maximum was up to 5,000 SR for some players—not a gain received by everyone, nor an official count of affected players. The available account does not establish the technical cause or independently verify how many players received an adjustment.
Why could an SR adjustment put players in Top 250?
Warzone’s documented Ranked rules tie leaderboard qualification to SR. In the Call of Duty Season 01 notes published in 2024, players qualified for the Top 250 leaderboard by surpassing 10,000 SR; the 250 highest players above that threshold appeared on the board. Those notes also described Top 250 seasonal rewards for players who maintained placement until the season ended. These are rules documented for Season 01, not an announcement about the Season 04 update.

That context explains why a large SR credit could affect leaderboard placement: crossing the threshold could make a player eligible, while a change in relative SR could alter who occupied the limited 250 spots. The June report says some players were sent into Top 250, but does not establish each player’s before-and-after position or reward eligibility.
Does Top 250 mean a different matchmaking rank?
Not necessarily. Activision’s December 2024 Ranked Play matchmaking whitepaper distinguishes the rank shown in the interface from matchmaking classification: Top 250 appears as an eighth rank in the interface, while the matchmaking system groups those players with Iridescent. That is general Ranked Play documentation; it does not document the specific matchmaking effects of the June 2025 Warzone update.

Was the SR boost or leaderboard later corrected?
The sources available do not verify whether the reported gains were rolled back, whether the leaderboard was subsequently corrected, or how many players were affected. The June report describes the initial update and its reported outcome; it is not evidence that the same leaderboard state persisted afterward.
