What critics praised

In its October 28, 2013 PC review, Machinima described the multiplayer as improved over Battlefield 3, citing maps, Commander mode, and squad mechanics. The PC overview also displays an October 29, 2013 IGN excerpt praising multiplayer and destruction’s strategic role. Those excerpts illustrate the praise, but they are not a count of how often each theme appears across all reviews.
What critics criticized
Some of the sampled reviews found the single-player campaign or storytelling less successful than the multiplayer.
