Battlefield 6’s developers have acknowledged unclear footsteps, hard-to-track vehicle sounds and audio dropping out during intense play. EA’s update notes document broad sound-system work and specific fixes across several patches, but they do not show that every audio problem is solved for every player.
What the developers acknowledged
In an official community update, Florian Le Bihan, Principal Game Designer on Battlefield 6, said the team had been addressing cases where footsteps were unclear, vehicles were difficult to track, and sounds unintentionally dropped out in intense moments. He also noted that Battlefield audio problems are “rarely caused by a single issue.” The update describes work with gameplay, networking, animation and audio teams, including reducing audio-file sizes, optimizing performance and adjusting sound priorities so footsteps and important combat cues are more consistently audible. Read Le Bihan’s community update.
What EA says changed in Update 1.1.3.0
EA’s December 5, 2025 notes describe a broad audio pass, including dedicated footsteps tuning. They say dropouts could affect footsteps and vehicle audio, particularly in large-scale Battle Royale matches, and cite sound-memory prioritization and optimized loading of larger audio assets as part of the response. EA said the changes should help important combat, movement and vehicle sounds play more consistently under heavy load.
EA cautioned that this was “isn’t a complete overhaul” and that edge cases could remain depending on hardware and match conditions. The notes describe developer changes, not independent tests of their effect on every platform or setup. See Update 1.1.3.0 notes.

Specific fixes and tuning listed
- Corrected audio behavior while crawling and aiming down sights, repeated health-replenishing and Supply Crate sounds, a stuck low-health cue, and an incorrect sector cue.
- Addressed missing or incorrect round-start and end-of-round music, combat-dive and weapon-inspection audio, and vehicle sounds that could fail during live gameplay.
- Improved distance-based acoustics and distant enemy-movement audio, and adjusted enemy cloth and gear cues.
- Fixed the voice-over volume slider not affecting environmental soldier audio.
Further audio work in later updates
Later patch notes show continued corrections and tuning, rather than a single update that guarantees every symptom is gone.
| Update | Audio work listed by EA |
|---|---|
| 1.2.3.0 | Improved vehicle sound obstruction and spatial-audio support on PS5; made tall-grass audio more consistent; fixed individual missing or incorrect cues, including the NVIS-500 battery-depletion sound while aiming down sights. Update 1.2.3.0 notes. |
| 1.4.3.0 | Corrected unnatural movement sounds in water, missing spectator-option UI sounds, a missing Commander voice line in Carrier Strike, localized voice-over that did not play after an enemy aircraft was destroyed, and REDSEC gas audio and coughing that could persist after the effect ended. Update 1.4.3.0 notes. |
What to do if Battlefield 6 audio is still a problem
- Check for the latest game update. EA has documented audio changes in multiple patches, so first make sure the game has installed its current update.
- Match the symptom to the patch notes. For example, the notes specifically mention vehicle sounds failing during live gameplay, distant enemy-movement audio, vehicle obstruction and several individual missing cues. A related fix is evidence of developer work, not proof that it addresses every instance of a similar symptom.
- Keep the limits in mind. EA says edge cases may depend on hardware and match conditions. The reviewed official material does not provide a player-side settings sequence for resolving these issues.
The official known-issues roundup dated September 16, 2026, following Update 1.4.3.0, lists investigations including disabled Proximity Chat but does not list a general audio investigation. That is only the status of that roundup; it does not establish that all audio complaints were resolved or that no players still encounter them. See EA’s known-issues roundup.

Will a new headset fix the audio issues?
The reviewed official updates point to game-side changes and do not identify a headset, DAC, sound card, speakers or physical copy as a remedy. Better equipment may change how audio sounds in general, but these sources do not support buying hardware as a fix for Battlefield 6’s documented sound dropouts, missing cues or tuning problems.
