To make a real Battlefield 6 bot lobby, create a Portal Custom experience and set the Bots option to PvE. PvE bots remain in the match when human players join. Do not choose PvP if you want permanent AI opponents: in the current Battlefield 6 Portal terminology, PvP bots only fill empty slots and are replaced as human players enter.
You can build the experience in the Portal Builder, test it privately, or publish it for other players to find.

How to create a Battlefield 6 AI lobby
- Open the Battlefield Portal website.
- Select Create New.
- Choose Portal Custom.
- Select the default template and click Start Editing.
- Open the Bots tab and choose PvE.
- Configure the teams, maps, game time and other options.
- Select Create New to save the experience.
The important setting is Bots: PvE. This creates persistent AI players rather than temporary matchmaking filler. Bots can be distributed across teams, including placing AI on one team against human-controlled players. The number of available AI players can vary by game mode, so Portal may not offer the same bot limit everywhere.

| Bot setting | What it does | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| PvE | Bots remain in the match when human players join. | You want to play against AI or maintain a persistent AI population. |
| PvP | Bots fill vacant slots and are replaced by human players. | You want a normal player-versus-player lobby with AI backfill. |
Older guides may call the setting “AI Type: PvP AI.” That is not the current Battlefield 6 Portal wording. Use the dedicated Bots tab and select PvE for persistent opponents.

Recommended Portal settings
After choosing a Portal Custom template, the Builder exposes several groups of settings:
- Settings: choose the game mode and Game Time.
- Teams: set maximum players, the number of teams, human players, AI players, squad-spawn behavior and squad-revive rules.
- Modifiers: adjust Soldier, Vehicle, User Interface and Bots behavior.
- Restrictions: limit classes, weapons, attachments, vehicles or gadgets.
- Map Rotation: choose the maps used by the experience.
- Rules Editor: add custom rules if the standard Builder options are not enough.
- Script: use optional TypeScript scripting for more advanced behavior.
You do not need a command or console command to create an AI lobby. A standard bot experience can be built entirely through the Portal Builder. The Script tab is optional.
A simple solo practice setup
For a straightforward AI practice session, select one game mode, choose one map, set the desired game time, enable PvE bots, and assign AI to the opposing team. Set the human-player limit to match the number of people you want in the lobby. If you leave the map rotation empty, Portal chooses a map automatically; selecting at least one map gives you predictable results.

When to use Custom instead of Verified
Choose Portal Custom when you need detailed control over teams, bots, restrictions or modifiers. Verified Modes let you modify an existing mode but provide fewer customization options.

How to test the bot lobby privately
To test a Portal Custom experience without publishing it:
- From the game, open Portal.
- Select Browse Server.
- Choose Locally Host.
- Open My Experiences.
- Select your experience.
- Choose Host Locally.
An unpublished experience is not publicly searchable. The creator can play it and invite friends directly through EA Social while the creator is playing.

When the AI setup works as intended, return to the Portal Builder and select Create New to save it, then choose Submit to Publishing. EA says moderation is required before an experience becomes publicly available and that the review may take around three hours.

- Pending: submitted for moderation.
- Under Review: moderation has started; editing is locked unless you unpublish the experience.
- Action Needed: moderation found an issue; edit the experience and submit it again.
- Published (Live): approved and available to the community.
How to host your published bot experience
In Battlefield 6, open Community, select My Experiences, choose the experience and click Host. A Portal Custom experience also retains the Host Locally option for private testing.
The Host screen currently includes:
- Server Name
- Description
- Optional Welcome and Periodic Messages
- A password option
- An option to host a persistent server
Use a password if only invited friends should join. Without one, anyone who finds the hosted experience may be able to enter. A persistent server can remain searchable and playable while its creator is offline.
How to find a Battlefield 6 bot experience
From the Battlefield 6 main menu:
- Select Community.
- Use Search to open the Community Experience Library.
- Search by Tags, Maps & Modes, Search by Word or Experience Code.
If someone gives you an Experience Code, enter it in the Experience Code field. The code identifies the Portal experience directly and is more reliable than searching by a server name.
To find an active hosted lobby, open Search Experiences and switch to the Servers tab. You can sort results by player count, map or ping, and filter by host region, maximum players, tags and other criteria.

Progression and statistics warnings
Portal Custom experiences are labelled Modified XP. They do not provide the normal Career XP, Hardware XP, Mission and Assignment progression rates. Verified experiences provide the listed normal rates.
EA also states that statistics in Casual or Portal modes that backfill with AI are not tracked. That warning specifically concerns AI-backfill modes; it should not be expanded into a claim that every Portal experience has identical progression or statistic behavior.
Who can access these experiences?
Battlefield REDSEC players cannot access Portal experiences that use Battlefield 6 content, including Battlefield 6 maps and modes. Battlefield 6 ownership is required for those experiences.
Common problems and fixes
The bots disappear when players join
Check the Bots setting. You probably selected PvP, which uses bots as temporary slot fillers. Reopen the experience and select PvE for persistent AI.
Best Value
- Requires Battlefield 6 (sold separately) or Battlefield REDSEC, all game updates, persistent internet connection & an EA account.
- Battlefield Coins can be used in the in-game Store to purchase Soldiers, Weapon Packages and a host of other cosmetic accessories and boosters. Can also be used to purchase the Battle Pass.
The experience uses an unexpected map
Open Map Rotation and select at least one map. If no map is selected, Portal chooses one automatically.
Friends cannot find the unpublished lobby
Unpublished experiences are not publicly searchable. Host the experience and invite friends through EA Social, or submit it for moderation if you want it to become discoverable.
The experience is not available publicly after submission
Check its publishing status. Pending and Under Review mean moderation is still in progress. Action Needed means you must edit the experience and republish it.

I cannot find the setting called “AI Type: PvP AI”
That label comes from older Battlefield 2042-era instructions. Battlefield 6 uses the Bots tab with PvP and PvE choices.
Bottom line
For a Battlefield 6 lobby where AI opponents remain in the match, use Portal Custom, open the Bots tab and choose PvE. Set the teams and AI allocation, select a map, test with Portal → Browse Server → Locally Host → My Experiences → Host Locally, then publish the experience if you want other players to find it. Use PvP only when you want bots to backfill empty player slots.
