Battlefield 6 class comparison
| Class | Best fit | Signature identity | Choose it when… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assault | Aggressive infantry play | Adrenaline Injector, Assault Rifle, Mission Focused | You want to lead pushes and help nearby squad members interact with or capture objectives faster. |
| Engineer | Anti-vehicle work and friendly vehicle repair | Repair Tool, SMG, Mechanized Infantry | Enemy vehicles are a problem or your squad needs vehicle repairs. |
| Support | Medical help and supplies | Supply Bag, LMG, faster revives | You want to keep teammates supplied, healthy, and in the fight. |
| Recon | Stealth, scouting, spotting, and ranged play | Motion Sensor, Sniper, Auto-spot | You will actively gather information and mark threats for your team. |
These are playstyle recommendations, not a measured competitive ranking. EA’s official class pages describe each class’s role, but the available official information does not establish a class as the most popular, strongest, or objectively best.
What each class does
Assault: lead infantry pushes
Assault specializes in anti-infantry combat and offensive play. Its Adrenaline Injector temporarily increases sprint speed, reduces explosive damage, protects against debuffs, and helps you hear enemy footsteps; it does not grant extra health. The signature Assault Rifle has faster draw and sprint time and improved sprint recovery. Assault’s Mission Focused trait helps nearby squad members interact with and capture objectives faster. Pick Assault if you want to take initiative in infantry fights and objective play. EA’s Battlefield 6 class overview
Engineer: counter vehicles and repair them
Engineer is the vehicle specialist. It is the only class EA says can repair friendly vehicles, using its signature Repair Tool. For attacking enemy vehicles, EA’s examples include mines and rocket launchers. The Engineer’s signature SMG has improved hip-fire control, while its Mechanized Infantry trait provides effects near friendly vehicles. Choose Engineer when enemy armor or aircraft threaten your team, or when a friendly vehicle needs repair. EA’s Battlefield 6 class overview

Support: revive and resupply teammates
Support offers medical help and supplies, and revives teammates faster than other classes. Its Supply Bag resupplies nearby infantry with gadgets and weapons and helps health regenerate more efficiently. Support’s signature weapon is an LMG; the official class overview also describes deployable cover and the ability to intercept enemy grenades and missiles. Stay close enough to the fight to make those team-support tools useful. EA’s Battlefield 6 class overview
Recon: scout, spot, and control information
Recon focuses on stealth, scouting, and giving the team information, as well as long-range play. Its Motion Sensor detects moving nearby enemies, vehicles, and gadgets. The signature Sniper supports steadier aim while holding breath and faster rechambering; the Auto-spot trait marks hostiles you see while aiming down sights. Recon suits players who will actively scout and share information, whether they prefer long-range engagements or another weapon allowed by the playlist. EA’s Battlefield 6 class overview

Do classes lock you to certain weapons?
Usually, no. EA Help says most modes use open weapons by default, allowing any class to equip any weapon type—for example, an Engineer can use an assault rifle or Support can use a sniper rifle. In closed-weapon experiences, class-specific signature weapon restrictions apply. The loadout guide EA published July 21, 2026, identifies Assault Rifles, SMGs, LMGs, and sniper rifles as the signature categories for Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon respectively; closed-weapon experiences also allow Carbines, DMRs, or Shotguns. EA Help’s Battlefield 6 weapon and class guidance EA’s Battlefield 6 loadout guide
A loadout is a customizable set of weapons, gadgets, a grenade, and a Training Path centered on one class. In open-weapon modes, choose your class primarily for its traits and gadgets, then equip a weapon that suits your preferred engagement range. In closed-weapon modes, account for the class’s signature weapon restriction.

How to choose for your squad
- Pick Assault if your priority is pushing infantry and contesting objectives.
- Pick Engineer if vehicles are shaping the fight or friendly vehicles need repairs.
- Pick Support if your squad needs revives, health support, and supplies.
- Pick Recon if scouting and spotting threats will help your team make better decisions.
Consider the playlist’s weapon rules and the squad’s current needs alongside your preferred role. A class can be useful without having the weapon you associate with it, especially in open-weapon modes.
