Battlefield 6 launched worldwide on October 10, 2025, at 8 a.m. PT (3 p.m. UTC). EA released it for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the EA app, and the Epic Games Store. The “return to its roots” description refers to EA’s emphasis on familiar classes, large-scale warfare, destruction, and classic modes—not a claim that the game simply recreates an earlier Battlefield.
When did Battlefield 6 come out?
EA announced October 10, 2025, as the worldwide release date, with launch set for 8 a.m. Pacific Time, or 3 p.m. UTC. That date has passed; Battlefield 6 is not awaiting an October launch.
EA’s launch announcement listed versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, the EA app, and the Epic Games Store. The same announcement described a nine-mission single-player campaign alongside multiplayer and Portal experiences.
What does “returns to its roots” mean?
EA framed the game as a return to selected Battlefield fundamentals. In its multiplayer reveal, the publisher highlighted four familiar classes—Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer—along with destructible environments and all-out warfare. It also emphasized the return of Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush.

That is EA’s design intention, not an objective verdict that Battlefield 6 reproduces the feel of every earlier entry. Senior Vice President and General Manager of Battlefield Byron Beede said during EA’s reveal: “We knew when we set out to create the future of Battlefield, we had to nail the fundamentals of what players have loved about the series for more than 20 years.”
Familiar foundations
- Classes: Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer bring back distinct squad roles.
- Modes: Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush return. EA also listed Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination, and King of the Hill.
- Battlefield-scale combat: EA pointed to destructible environments and all-out warfare as central parts of the formula.
New systems alongside the old formula
The reveal also presented the Kinesthetic Combat System, Drag and Revive, and weapon mounting. Those additions make “back to its roots” a description of selected returning pillars with new mechanics layered on top, rather than a promise of an unchanged or purely nostalgic design.
What can you play in Battlefield 6?
EA’s launch announcement described a nine-mission single-player campaign, familiar multiplayer modes, the new Escalation mode, and an updated Portal toolkit for player-created experiences. Portal gives players tools to build custom experiences, broadening the package beyond the campaign and standard playlists.

EA said gameplay-impacting features would be free or earnable. That is the publisher’s stated policy for those features; it should not be read as a claim that every kind of monetized content is free.
