Sniper glint was not promised to disappear from Battlefield 6. On August 6, 2025, DICE Principal Game Designer Florian Le Bihan said its scale would be reduced, but that it would remain in the game. EA’s latest reviewed update, dated October 1, 2026, discusses evaluating bolt-action sniper balance and counterplay—not a newly announced, scheduled glint change.
Are sniper glints getting nerfed in Battlefield 6?
The headline traces to a pre-release comment reported on August 6, 2025. Asked whether Battlefield 6 should have sniper glint, DICE Principal Game Designer Florian Le Bihan replied: “Yes 🙂 It’ll get toned down in scale a bit but it’s here to stay”. Insider Gaming reported the exchange; the original social-media post is represented through that report.
That statement supports a reduction in the effect’s scale, not its removal. It gave no numerical size for the change, implementation date, or game version, so it should not be read as confirmation that a particular later patch introduced a glint nerf.
Is sniper glint being removed?
No. Le Bihan’s wording explicitly said glint was “here to stay.” The reported comment describes a smaller effect while retaining the mechanic; it does not promise an option to disable it or a mode without glint.

What does EA say about sniper changes now?
Bolt-action balance and counterplay
In an October 1, 2026 look ahead, EA said it was evaluating bolt-action sniper-rifle balance and how players can fight back against those weapons. The discussion concerns potential future work and does not specifically announce a sniper-glint adjustment or give one a release date. EA also cautions that features discussed may change following Battlefield Labs feedback.
Sniper rifles, DMRs, and Sweet Spot tuning
In a separate official community Q&A, EA said earlier Season 3 adjustments to the sniper “Sweet Spot” mechanic did not have the hoped-for effect. The studio described sniper rifles and DMRs as a key focus and said further changes would be evaluated in Battlefield Labs before going live; it supplied no specific timeline.

General gunplay is not glint tuning
EA has also discussed broader gunplay work, including recoil, body-damage multipliers, and refining each sniper rifle’s Sweet Spot range. Those are weapon-balance topics, not evidence of a change to scope glint. EA’s gunplay update should therefore be distinguished from the 2025 glint comment.
