Check your active challenges before queuing, choose a mode and loadout that naturally advance several objectives, contribute through team actions as well as eliminations, and stay through match completion when you can. EA’s current guidance does not identify one mode as the best XP-per-hour option.
Choose the progression track you want
Battlefield 6 has separate progression tracks. Progressing one does not necessarily mean you are advancing another at the same rate.
| Track | What it advances | How to focus your play |
|---|---|---|
| Career XP | Career Rank. EA describes functional unlocks at ranks 1–50, cosmetic unlocks at 51–100, and further progression through prestige. | Earn XP from a broad range of useful actions, challenges, and match completion. |
| Weapon XP | Weapon and vehicle ranks, including functional loadout items and other progression rewards. | Equip and use the specific weapon or vehicle you want to progress. |
| Battle Pass XP | Seasonal Battle Pass progression. | Earn it alongside Career XP at a 1:1 ratio, according to EA; challenges can also award Battle Pass points directly. |
EA’s progression overview, marked as recently updated for Season 2 when accessed October 4, 2026, says Battlefield 6 multiplayer, REDSEC, and verified Community Portal experiences award full progression.
How to earn Career XP during ordinary play
Eliminations are only one source of XP. EA lists assists, revives, squad spawns, spotting enemies, class actions, objectives, match completion, and challenges as additional sources. Choose actions that fit your class, situation, and team rather than chasing a single activity as a guaranteed top earner; the official guidance does not compare their XP values.

- Recon: use a decoy to draw enemy fire and spot enemies.
- Assault: squadmates can spawn on an Assault squad spawn beacon.

Match completion also grants XP. EA says the award depends on time spent in the match and its outcome; examples include Battle Royale or Gauntlet placement and wins or losses in team modes. Leaving early can mean missing the completion award, though EA’s reviewed guidance does not state its precise value.
How to level a weapon or vehicle
Equip the item you want to rank up and use it consistently. EA says the weapon or vehicle used for eliminations and assists receives related weapon XP. Vehicle drivers and passengers can also receive assist credit when that vehicle gets a kill. EA additionally describes a small passive weapon and vehicle XP award for use, but does not publish a fixed rate for each item or mode.

How to make challenges work for you
Before you queue, open the current in-game challenge menu and look for objectives you can complete in the same session. Daily and weekly challenges can include tasks such as winning a particular mode or getting kills with a weapon class. Persistent assignments and unit assignments can overlap with them, so choose a mode and loadout that advance multiple objectives when the requirements line up.
- Check daily and weekly challenges, persistent assignments, and unit assignments.
- Identify objectives that fit the same mode, class, or weapon category.
- Queue with a loadout that supports those objectives without undermining your ability to contribute to the match.
- Check the in-game menu again later: challenge requirements and available tasks can change.
EA’s challenge guide says class-focused challenges unlock at Career Rank 20 and weapon-category challenges at Rank 23; these can unlock additional functional hardware. It recommends treating daily and weekly tasks as a checklist and combining them with assignment progress where possible.

Choose a mode by fit, not an unverified XP ranking
The available official guidance does not provide a current mode-by-mode payout table or controlled XP-per-hour results. That means there is no supported basis here for calling Conquest, REDSEC, or another mode universally fastest. Instead, compare your options using practical criteria:
- Track: Will the session advance Career Rank, your chosen weapon or vehicle, or the Battle Pass?
- Challenge overlap: Can you progress a daily, weekly, or assignment objective at the same time?
- Play-style fit: Can you reliably contribute through your class actions, objectives, assists, or eliminations?
- Eligibility: Is the experience standard multiplayer or REDSEC, verified Portal, or a custom Portal experience with restrictions?
- Completion: Can you stay for the match’s completion award?
Portal progression: verified and custom experiences differ
EA says verified Community Portal experiences count for full progression. Do not assume that every custom server grants normal action-based XP: EA describes restrictions on action XP in custom experiences, with extremely limited exceptions, and says the completion bonus is set at an increased percentage to compensate. Check current in-game labels and use eligible experiences rather than relying on an unverified XP-farm claim.

Use XP boosts when they fit your session
EA’s Season 2 overview says 15-minute XP boosts were added at early Career Ranks 3–22 and that they double XP. Check your current inventory and the in-game timer before activating one; the official material reviewed does not establish current timer behavior for every situation. A boost is most practical when you have enough time to play and a clear session plan, such as overlapping challenges with the progression track you care about.
What EA’s progression updates do—and do not—tell you
EA’s Season 2 overview describes increased Career XP match-completion rewards, redesigned REDSEC victory bonuses and more XP for time played, reduced weapon and vehicle XP requirements, challenge revisions, and faster Battle Pass XP progression. These are descriptions of changes, not a fixed present-day payout promise for every player, mode, or match.
Best Value
- Requires Battlefield 6 (sold separately) or Battlefield REDSEC, all game updates, persistent internet connection & an EA account.
- Battlefield Coins can be used in the in-game Store to purchase Soldiers, Weapon Packages and a host of other cosmetic accessories and boosters. Can also be used to purchase the Battle Pass.
For historical context, EA_Leeuw, a Battlefield Community Manager, wrote in an October 2025 launch-period update: “The XP gained from match completion and the daily bonus are being increased by 10% and 40% respectively.” Those percentages refer to announced changes at that time, not a current bonus formula.
