Battlefield 6 naval warfare is no longer merely a datamine clue: EA launched it with Season 4, which began July 21, 2026. Insider Gaming’s October 2025 report pointed to Jet Ski and RHIB kit names in multiplayer files; EA later announced Tsuru Reef, Wake Island, two boats, and water-focused combat mechanics. As of October 8, 2026, EA has discussed continued vehicle work but has not confirmed another specific naval map, boat, or mode.
What the Battlefield 6 naval warfare datamine revealed
On October 15, 2025, Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming reported that multiplayer files contained the strings Game/GlacierMP/Kits/Vehicle_Neutral_Boat_JetSki and Game/GlacierMP/Kits/Vehicle_Neutral_Boat_RHIB. The report described Glacier as Battlefield 6’s codename and MP as multiplayer, and interpreted the names as signs of naval vehicle development. Insider Gaming’s report said the timing was unclear.
Those strings were evidence of names in game files, not an EA announcement or proof that the final game would include those exact vehicles or designs. The datamine correctly anticipated a naval direction, but it did not establish a release date or guarantee what would ship.
When did naval warfare come to Battlefield 6?
EA’s Season 4 roadmap set the season’s start for July 21, 2026, and announced Naval Warfare alongside Tsuru Reef. EA said naval combat would be available on Tsuru Reef and later in the season on Wake Island. The rollout therefore turned the earlier clue into an officially announced and released feature. EA’s Season 4 roadmap called naval warfare “Core to Battlefield franchise history since its inception” and said it was “back for a new generation of combined arms.”

Maps, boats, and water combat mechanics
Tsuru Reef and Wake Island
Tsuru Reef is an island chain with open ocean designed for naval combat. EA named Wake Island as another map where naval warfare would become available later in Season 4. The roadmap established those two locations; it did not establish that every Season 4 map would feature naval combat.
The two boats

These are in-game vehicles, not consumer boat models. EA’s descriptions emphasize their different roles: the RHIB transports a squad, while the RCB-90 gives its crew heavier offensive options.

Water is part of the combat system
EA described a dynamic wave system in which boats create wakes and water affects engagements. Buoyant gadgets and underwater explosions can be used tactically, and bullet penetration through the surface depends on caliber. Players can also drag and revive others in water. These details make Naval Warfare more than the addition of boat models: the environment and player interactions are part of the feature.
What changed after launch?
EA’s September 2, 2026 Tidal Strike community update confirmed Tsuru Reef naval combat was live and undergoing adjustments. For Tsuru Reef Breakthrough, EA said it would expand playable space and add ways for boats to move around defensive positions. It also said it was reducing RCB-90 oversteer and lowering minigun damage against Patrol Boats and amphibious transport vehicles. Those are changes announced in that dated update; live balance can change again.

Is more Battlefield 6 naval content confirmed?
Not specifically in EA’s October 1, 2026 update. In Looking Ahead To Season 5 And Beyond, EA said the first year had added Naval Warfare and that work would continue through 2027. It also said it was exploring more immersive vehicle gameplay, but did not announce another naval map, boat, or mode.
EA had earlier said Season 5 would add three maps: one infantry-focused and two supporting larger-scale combined-arms warfare, with testing underway. That description does not establish that any of those maps will include naval combat. “More vehicle gameplay” should not be read as confirmation of additional naval content.
