EA’s Battlefield 6 weapons guide lists guns across eight categories: assault rifles, carbines, SMGs, LMGs, DMRs, sniper rifles, shotguns and secondary weapons. Below is the full roster and the unlock route EA gives for each weapon, based on its guide marked “Recently Updated for Season 4” and dated July 21, 2026. Battlefield 6 is a live-service game, so availability and unlock routes may change after that guide update.
How weapon categories work in Battlefield 6
In Closed Weapon experiences, four classes have signature primary-weapon categories: Assault uses assault rifles, Engineer uses SMGs, Support uses LMGs, and Recon uses sniper rifles. Carbines, DMRs and shotguns are also available to all classes under the stated Closed Weapon rules. EA describes assault rifles as “the cornerstone of aggressive and adaptable loadouts” and DMRs as “long-range, semi-automatic precision and marksman rifles.”
EA characterizes the categories this way:
- Assault rifles: Fully automatic, maneuverable and modular all-around rifles; Assault’s signature category.
- Carbines: Smaller rifles intended for closer engagements.
- SMGs: Close-quarters weapons with the highest average primary-weapon fire rate; Engineer’s signature category.
- LMGs: Sustained-fire weapons built for suppression and generally the largest primary-weapon magazines; Support’s signature category.
- DMRs: Semi-automatic, long-range precision rifles.
- Sniper rifles: Recon’s signature category. EA says a headshot can produce a one-shot confirmed kill outside Hardcore modes.
- Shotguns: Weapons built for extreme close range.
- Secondary weapons: Sidearms and machine pistols.

How to choose a weapon and understand its attachments
Start with the role and range you want, then compare fire rate, recoil and control, magazine capacity, and reload characteristics. For a class-focused Closed Weapon loadout, begin with that class’s signature category; for a cross-class option, consider carbines, DMRs or shotguns under the experience’s rules.
Attachments use attachment points and can change damage, handling, recoil, sights, magazines, ammunition, reload speed and other behavior. Their effects mean a weapon’s base description is only a starting point for comparing configurations.

Season 3 weapon unlock context
EA’s Season 3 roadmap describes a three-part rollout featuring M16A4, RPK-74M, L115 and PP-19 content. The Battle Pass guide identifies L115, M16A4 and RPK-74M as free functional weapon unlocks in Season 3’s Battle Pass structure. The roster above lists L115A3 as the sniper rifle’s name and gives the catch-up route EA’s weapon guide specifies; the PP-19’s original route is listed separately because it came from the Explosive Charge Bonus Path.
