The beta’s recorded Steam peak was 521,079 concurrent players, according to SteamDB—but that peak happened on August 9 during the first public weekend, not Weekend 2. It is a Steam-only figure, not a count across consoles and PC stores.
When did Battlefield 6 Open Beta Weekend 2 start and end?
EA’s detailed schedule set Weekend 2 to run from August 14, 2025, at 08:00 UTC through August 18 at 08:00 UTC. EA’s announcement used the shorthand dates August 14–17; the detailed UTC end time crossed into August 18.
The full beta schedule was:
| Phase | Schedule | Access |
|---|---|---|
| Early Access | August 7–8, 2025 | Separate eligibility routes applied. |
| Open Beta Weekend 1 | August 9 at 08:00 to August 11 at 08:00 UTC | Open to the public without a code. |
| Open Beta Weekend 2 | August 14 at 08:00 to August 18 at 08:00 UTC | Open to the public without a code. |
EA billed the event as “Battlefield’s biggest Open Beta ever,” describing two public weekends: August 9–10 and August 14–17. That description was EA’s characterization of the event.
How many players were playing Battlefield 6?
There is no single public player count in these figures that covers every platform. SteamDB recorded an all-time peak of 521,079 concurrent players for the Battlefield 6 Open Beta on Steam on August 9, 2025. This is a simultaneous-player peak on Steam, and it occurred during Weekend 1—not Weekend 2.

What changes did EA say it would make after the beta?
EA’s August 21 debrief described intended follow-up based on player feedback and game data. These were plans announced after the beta, not confirmation of the final released behavior.
- Weapons: EA said it planned recoil and tap-fire tuning.
- Movement: It planned changes to reduce the benefits of repeated jumping and sliding.
- Map access: It said it would fix unintended rooftop access and out-of-bounds routes.
- Rush: EA said high player counts could overwhelm defenses, stall frontlines, and cause sectors to end early. It planned to lower Rush’s default player count while leaving room for experimentation through Portal.
- Breakthrough and map balance: EA described Breakthrough as designed for higher player counts and said map-by-map balance work would continue. Matchmaking and map balance remained under review.
EA also stated: “Rather than locking maps and modes to a fixed player count, our philosophy is to adapt to best fit the intended experience.”

Was the Battlefield 6 open beta free?
The two public beta weekends were open without a code, according to EA’s schedule. Early Access was a separate phase with its own eligibility routes, so it should not be confused with the public weekends.
