Battlefield 6 released worldwide on October 10, 2025, so its preload window has passed. TechRadar reported that preloading began October 3, 2025. If you are installing the game now, the key question is how much free space your platform or PC configuration needs—not when to preload it.
When did Battlefield 6 release, and when could players preload it?
EA says Battlefield 6 launched worldwide on October 10, 2025, at 8 a.m. PT (5 p.m. CET). EA’s launch announcement also said a required patch would be deployed before release and advised players who had automatic updates turned off to download it manually. That was launch-period guidance; it does not mean a launch patch is still pending.
The reported preload opening date was October 3, 2025. That date comes from TechRadar’s 2025 report, rather than the official EA launch announcement, and is historical.
How big is Battlefield 6, and how much PC storage does it need?
There is no single PC number that represents the exact download size for every player. Storefront requirements describe available storage, and EA’s figure applies to higher-end PC configurations.

| PC requirement tier | Available storage listed | Source and meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 55 GB | Steam’s PC requirements; available space, not a guaranteed download payload. |
| Recommended | 80 GB | Steam’s PC requirements; available space, not a guaranteed download payload. |
| Ultra and Ultra++ | 90 GB SSD | EA’s PC specifications; storage requirement for these configurations. |
PC Gamer reported that an EA representative said players could select game components from a shared base package, with major components such as single-player and multiplayer installed separately. That explanation may help account for differences between installs, but it does not guarantee a particular size for every current build. See PC Gamer’s report on Battlefield 6’s install options.
EA lists SSD storage for its Ultra and Ultra++ PC specifications. Check both the free space on your drive and the drive selected for installation. If your system does not have enough capacity, a compatible internal SSD is one possible upgrade; you do not need new hardware if your current setup meets the applicable requirements.

Which platforms can you play Battlefield 6 on?
EA lists Battlefield 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. PC storefront options include the EA app, Steam, and Epic Games Store. EA’s official product page provides platform and storefront options.
The PC figures above should not be used as console download sizes. To check how much console storage you need, consult the current Battlefield 6 listing in your PlayStation or Xbox storefront; available requirements and download payloads can vary by platform and updates.

- Requires Battlefield 6 (sold separately) or Battlefield REDSEC, all game updates, persistent internet connection & an EA account.
- Battlefield Coins can be used in the in-game Store to purchase Soldiers, Weapon Packages and a host of other cosmetic accessories and boosters. Can also be used to purchase the Battle Pass.
What should PC players check before installing?
EA’s PC setup guidance says Secure Boot must be enabled to play. EA also identifies TPM 2.0, User Secured Boot, HVCI capability, and VBS capability among the required security features. Requirements and settings are distinct: check that your system supports the named features and that Secure Boot is enabled.
- Open Windows System Information by searching for System Information or running msinfo32, then check the Secure Boot state.
- Review EA’s PC setup guidance for the security feature requirements.
- If Secure Boot or another firmware setting needs attention, use EA Help’s Secure Boot instructions for your computer or motherboard. Avoid guessing at BIOS steps, which vary by manufacturer.
These requirements are separate from storage: having enough free space does not establish that a PC meets the security requirements.
