Battlefield 6 preloading began on October 3, 2025, and the game launched on October 10, 2025. Those dates have passed. If you are installing or updating the game now, check its listing in your platform library for the current build and required free space: the launch-era figures below are not a reliable estimate of the October 2026 installed size.
When could players preload Battlefield 6?
Preloading was reported available across platforms beginning October 3, 2025. EA set the simultaneous global launch for October 10, 2025, with these announced times:
| Region or time zone | Launch time |
|---|---|
| Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) | October 10, 2025, 8:00 a.m. |
| Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) | October 10, 2025, 11:00 a.m. |
| British Summer Time (BST) | October 10, 2025, 4:00 p.m. |
| Central European Summer Time (CEST) | October 10, 2025, 5:00 p.m. |
Because the release was simultaneous worldwide, the local calendar date was October 11 in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. EA’s regional launch announcement lists the launch schedule.
How large was the Battlefield 6 preload?
Launch-period reporting listed different download sizes by platform. These are historical third-party figures reported in October 2025, not current installed-size guarantees:

| Platform | Reported launch preload | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | 68 GB | Reported by MP1st for the 2025 launch preload. |
| Xbox | 70 GB | Reported by MP1st for the 2025 launch preload; later builds or Xbox models may differ. |
| Steam (PC) | 67 GB | Reported by MP1st for the 2025 launch preload; this is not the same measure as PC storage recommendations. |
These numbers describe reported preload downloads at a particular point in time. They should not be averaged or treated as equivalent to required disk space: platform, installed components, updates, and texture options affect what a player downloads and keeps installed.
How much PC storage does Battlefield 6 need?
PC figures vary with the selected components and specification tier. PC Gamer reported EA’s clarification that players could choose which components to install: “There will be a shared base package, and then you can separately choose to install the main components (i.e. singleplayer, multiplayer etc.).” The EA representative was unnamed. PC Gamer described a 55 GB storage suggestion for the shared base package and 80 GB with additional components; those are storage recommendations, not a promise that every computer downloads exactly that many gigabytes.

- SAMSUNG MAGICIAN SOFTWARE: Get the most out of your SSD with Samsung Magician's advanced yet intuitive optimization tools; Monitor drive health, protect valuable data, and receive important updates for your 990 PRO
EA’s PC specification page lists 90 GB of SSD storage for the Ultra++ tier, including campaign, multiplayer, and a high-resolution texture pack. That configuration-specific requirement is not interchangeable with the launch preload figures or PC Gamer’s base-package and component estimates. EA’s PC system requirements provide the Ultra++ specification.
Why preload size and installed size differ
- Download versus storage: a preload figure reports a launch-era download, while a storage recommendation describes space to reserve on a drive.
- Selected PC components: the shared base package and separately selected game components can change the installed footprint.
- Texture and specification options: EA’s 90 GB Ultra++ SSD figure includes the high-resolution texture pack as well as campaign and multiplayer.
- Updates: EA said a required update would be deployed before launch. The preload by itself therefore did not guarantee the final playable build.
How to check the space needed for your current installation
- Open the game’s listing in your PlayStation, Xbox, or PC game library or store.
- Check the current download or installation requirement shown for your platform and installed build.
- On PC, decide which components you want and check whether the high-resolution texture pack applies to your configuration.
- Keep additional free space available for updates. EA instructed players with automatic updates disabled to download the required launch patch manually; current update handling depends on your platform settings.
If a PC drive is short on room, first remove components or other files you do not need. Adding SSD capacity is an option only if freeing space is not practical; the specification cited above is for an SSD, but it does not mean every player needs to buy a new drive.
