Battlefield 6 has separate controls for target slowdown, zoom snap, and aiming speed, so changing only the main aim-assist value may not address what feels off. Start from the current defaults, adjust one control at a time, and test in the Firing Range. EA reset aim-assist tuning to its Open Beta values in update 1.1.2.0, so older presets may no longer match your settings.
What Battlefield 6 aim assist changes
EA lists three controls that affect how aim assistance behaves for infantry. They influence different parts of aiming, so it helps to identify the sensation you want to change before adjusting them.
| Setting | What it affects | When to test it |
|---|---|---|
| Infantry Aim Assist | How much aiming slows or sticks over a target. | If your aim feels overly sticky or you want to compare overall assistance strength. |
| Infantry Aim Assist Slowdown | How much crosshair movement slows near enemies. | If it is difficult to track a moving enemy smoothly as your reticle passes over them. |
| Zoom Snap | How much aim snaps toward nearby enemies. | If the initial pull toward a nearby target feels too strong or too weak. |
These descriptions come from EA’s Battlefield 6 settings guide. Aim Assist and Slowdown are distinct controls; reduce or raise them separately to work out which effect suits you.
Current defaults after update 1.1.2.0
EA’s update 1.1.2.0 reset aim assist to the Open Beta tuning and returned related options to their defaults. Before launch, EA had increased slowdown at longer ranges. After release, it found that this made high-zoom aiming less smooth and harder to control. The update made slowdown consistent across ranges to support a steadier feel and muscle memory, according to the official update notes.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
If you tuned your controller before that reset, check the values currently shown in your game rather than assuming your previous preset remains in effect. The reset changed the starting point, not your freedom to customize.
Related settings that change aim feel
Several settings affect how quickly your aim moves, but they are not aim-assist controls. Adjust these only after you have a reason to change aiming speed.

- 1000Hz Polling Rate on PC: Experience ultra-responsive gaming with a 1000Hz polling rate on PC, available through both wired and 2.4G wireless connections. This ensures instantaneous input registration, reducing lag and optimizing your performance for the most competitive gameplay.
- GameSir Nexus App: The G7 Pro is compatible with the upgraded GameSir Nexus app, which brings a significant upgrade over the original. It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
- Infantry Aim Sensitivity: Changes crosshair movement in response to your input. EA’s example range is 30–40; treat it as a starting point, not a competitive optimum.
- Zoom Sensitivity Coefficient: Changes sensitivity while zoomed. EA’s example is 178, but the best value depends on your preference and the optics you use.
- Aiming Left/Right Acceleration: Affects horizontal aiming acceleration. EA’s example range is 50–70.
- Vertical Aim Ratio: Changes vertical aim speed relative to horizontal aim speed. EA’s example is 56.
- Field of View (FOV): A wider FOV shows more surroundings but makes distant enemies and objects appear smaller. EA suggests 110 as a starting point and Weapon Field of View set to Wide.
EA’s values are examples for players to try, not evidence that one setup is best. Its guide recommends experimenting and testing in the Firing Range.
How to adjust controller aim assist
- Open Settings > Controller > Edit Settings, then find the infantry aim controls you want to change.
- Note the values currently shown. Start from the game’s current defaults if you are unsure whether your setup predates update 1.1.2.0.
- Change one setting at a time. For example, adjust Infantry Aim Assist without changing Slowdown or Zoom Snap, then test. This makes it easier to tell what caused a difference.
- Use the Firing Range to compare initial target acquisition and tracking. Try more than one distance and optic, and make a brief note of whether the change improved the part of aiming you meant to address.
- Keep the adjustment only if it feels more consistent across those situations; otherwise, restore the prior value and test a different control.
To tune deadzones, EA’s menu path is Controller > Edit Settings > Other > Modify next to Controller Tuning. A deadzone is a small input area in which stick movement does not register. Changing it can reduce unwanted movement or make controls feel more responsive.

Choose adjustments by the problem you notice
- Aim feels sticky over an enemy: Compare Infantry Aim Assist and Infantry Aim Assist Slowdown separately. The first concerns how much aim slows or sticks over a target; the second concerns slowing crosshair movement near enemies.
- Tracking feels uneven at different distances: Test the current defaults first. Update 1.1.2.0 made slowdown consistent across ranges, so a pre-update setup may feel different.
- Zoomed aim moves too quickly or slowly: Test Zoom Sensitivity Coefficient rather than treating it as an aim-assist adjustment. Compare with the optics you actually use.
- Initial aim pull feels wrong: Test Zoom Snap on its own; it controls the snap toward nearby enemies, not the same slowdown effect.
- Infantry and vehicle aim need different treatment: EA provides separate infantry and vehicle aim options and sensitivity controls, as described in its Battlefield 6 Accessibility Resources.
Console and PC controller notes
EA says console players receive aim assist automatically and cannot turn it off. They can still adjust controller settings and deadzones to change aiming feel. EA’s settings guide also covers PC controller settings; available options can differ by control context, so check the labels shown in your game.

Players describe different preferences, including a Reddit commenter who reported using Aim Assist at 80 and Slowdown at 20. That is an individual setting report, not a controlled comparison or a reliable benchmark. Use it as evidence that preferences vary, not as a recommendation to copy.
