Its open beta took place in August 2025 and is over. The headline’s “for 0” is malformed, not a confirmed price: a pre-reveal report mentioned €79.99 for consoles, but EA’s announcement did not confirm that figure or an equivalent U.S. price.
When did Battlefield 6 come out?
EA announced the release date as October 10, 2025. In its July 31, 2025 reveal, EA listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, with PC distribution through Steam, the EA app and the Epic Games Store. EA’s October 7 launch guide later specified a simultaneous worldwide launch at 8 a.m. PT on October 10 (5 p.m. CET).
That date is a past launch, not an upcoming release. EA described a 2027 setting: after a high-profile assassination, major European countries leave NATO, while the United States and its allies face the fallout and private military corporation PAX ARMATA seeks to fill the resulting power vacuum. The reveal named Egypt, Gibraltar and New York among the multiplayer settings, and listed Conquest, Breakthrough and Rush as returning modes. EA said Battlefield Studios brought together Criterion, DICE, Motive and Ripple Effect to develop the game; Battlefield Portal was described as a toolset for creating Community Experiences.
What did the price leak actually say?
The “for 0” in the supplied headline is not a price supported by the cited sources. Before EA’s reveal, GamesRadar reported that leaker billbil-kun had indicated an October 10 date and €79.99 console pricing, as well as a higher-priced digital Phantom Edition. The July 24, 2025 GamesRadar report said the date was still subject to change and the pricing needed confirmation at that time.

EA subsequently confirmed October 10, but its reveal did not confirm the leak’s €79.99 price. That euro figure should not be converted into $79.99 or $80, and it is not evidence that the game was free. EA’s purchase page describes a digital base-game license and directs buyers to EA and platform storefronts; current displayed prices are regional and may change.
When was the Battlefield 6 open beta?
EA scheduled the open beta for two weekends: August 9–10 and August 14–17, 2025. It also offered an early-access opportunity beginning August 7 through watching participating streamers. The beta covered available platforms and included multiplayer modes and maps, but the access windows have ended.

What EA reported after the beta
In its August 21, 2025 beta debrief, EA reported 420 million matches, 92 million hours played, 4.9 billion enemies killed and 30.9 million revives. These are publisher-reported figures, not independently audited results.
Changes and issues EA discussed
EA said it used player feedback and in-game data to make or consider adjustments. The debrief described changes to recoil and tap-fire, less slide momentum carried into jumps, penalties for consecutive jumps, greater inaccuracy when firing while jumping or sliding, and retuned parachute-opening acceleration. EA said it was investigating time-to-kill and time-to-death; it did not announce a definitive change to those systems in that post.

PC setup note
EA’s launch guide says PC play requires Secure Boot and lists specifications by graphics preset. Its Ultra tier specifies a 90 GB SSD; that is an Ultra-tier requirement, not a universal minimum for every preset. Check EA’s launch guide for the specification tier relevant to your hardware.
