EA classifies these messages as installation and purchase errors associated with a game license or authentication problem. Start by checking the game’s installed content, then check your EA Account and active sessions.
Check Battlefield 6’s installed content
EA’s first specific check is inside Battlefield 6. Make sure the content the game needs—especially multiplayer, if that is the missing component—is selected for installation.
- Open Settings in Battlefield 6.
- Select System.
- Under Setup, choose Edit beside Install/Uninstall.
- Check that the relevant content is selected. If the error identifies specific files or content, uncheck that content and select it again to reinstall it.
Keep the game closed while the content installs. When installation finishes, reopen Battlefield 6 and see whether the message is gone.
If the content check does not fix it
Restart the EA app and clear its cache
EA recommends restarting the EA app and clearing its cache if the problem continues after installing or reinstalling the content. EA also says cache clearing can help when a game will not download, is missing from the Library, or the app appears stuck. These are EA app troubleshooting steps, separate from the in-game Install/Uninstall check.

Verify the account and active sessions
For authentication or login errors, EA advises confirming that you are signed in to the correct EA Account. Sign out of other devices, particularly if you recently played on another PC or console, then restart your platform and the EA app. EA also recommends enabling two-factor authentication to help secure your account.

EA’s instructions for this error provide the in-game content check and general account and authentication checks, but do not give a separate PS5 license-restoration procedure or storefront-specific ownership steps for Steam or Epic. If you are on PS5, follow the documented checks above; do not treat the message alone as proof that you need to repurchase the game.

EA’s support page, “Troubleshoot error messages in Battlefield 6”, currently states: “This issue has been fixed.” The page does not specify which platforms, game builds, or incidents that statement covers, so it does not guarantee that every occurrence is resolved. If the checks above do not work, contact EA Help for support with your case.
