This is a retrospective guide to that 2025 rollout—not the current roadmap. In August 2026, EA was discussing later plans, including Season 5 reworks for Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City, which were described as planned rather than completed.
What was in Battlefield 6 Season 1?
EA’s Season 1 roadmap was divided into three dated updates. Its California focus included two different maps—large-scale Blackwell Fields and suburban Eastwood—along with the 4v4 Strikepoint and 8v8 Sabotage modes. EA also announced weapons, a themed Battle Pass, and a seasonal update to Empire State.

These were announced 2025 dates, not a statement about what content is currently available. EA later discussed future season plans, including proposed reworks of Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City.
How do Blackwell Fields and Eastwood differ?
Both maps place the season in Southern California, but EA described distinct settings and combat character. The official material does not provide measured map sizes or comparative player counts, so the differences below are qualitative.

Blackwell Fields
Rogue Operations introduced Blackwell Fields as the season’s large-scale battlefield amid Southern California shrubland. It arrived alongside Strikepoint and three new weapons.
Eastwood
California Resistance added Eastwood, a suburban map whose pools and private golf courses frame its combat spaces. EA described it as supporting all combat sizes and multiplayer modes. It also highlighted the Turfpro PTV Royale, a four-person golf-cart vehicle.

What are Strikepoint and Sabotage?
The two new modes differ in squad size, lives, and objective structure.

Strikepoint: a one-life capture-point fight
EA brought the squad-focused, one-life concept from REDSEC into multiplayer as fast 4v4 rounds. The goal is to take the single capture point, so each life matters to the squad’s attempt to complete the round.

Sabotage: attack, defend, then switch
In Sabotage, one team attacks cargo sites while the other defends. They switch roles for the second round, and the winner is the side that destroys more cargo. EA described the mode as limited-time content in the California Resistance update.
When did California Resistance come out, and what did it add?
California Resistance deployed on November 18, 2025, at 12 p.m. UTC, according to EA’s update. For Battlefield 6 owners, its named additions included Eastwood, Sabotage, the Turfpro PTV Royale, and a free functional DB-12 shotgun earnable through the event’s bonus path. EA said two free functional weapons could be earned in the update, but the cited details identify only the DB-12 by name.

The update also included REDSEC additions, which should be distinguished from Battlefield 6 owner content. EA listed a new Gauntlet mission and SCIF/Prepper Stashes in Battle Royale for REDSEC, which it described as free-to-play.

EA described the Rogue Operations Battle Pass as having 100 tiers, six paths, and ten prestige tiers. The company said gameplay-impacting features would be free or earnable, while its announcements also described Battle Pass and premium content. That does not mean every reward or premium item was free.

EA’s October 2025 launch release listed standard and Phantom editions and described BF Pro and other premium content at launch. Those historical offers do not establish current prices, availability, or edition stock.
Which platforms did EA list for Battlefield 6?
EA’s October 2025 launch announcement listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, the EA app, and the Epic Games Store for Battlefield 6. That launch-era platform list does not establish present-day store availability or pricing.
What do the franchise figures and launch quote refer to?
In its October 2025 launch release, EA’s “About Battlefield” boilerplate stated 100 million players and 5 billion hours played. Those are franchise-wide figures stated by EA, not Battlefield 6 sales, Season 1 participation, or current player counts.
On launch day, October 28, 2025, Battlefield General Manager Byron Beede said: “The next chapter of our Battlefield universe launches today with Battlefield REDSEC, our new experience that includes Battle Royale crafted with the series’ explosive DNA, to our cutthroat squad competition mode Gauntlet, and even new ways for our community to build and experience Portal.” This was EA’s promotional description of the REDSEC launch, not an independent assessment of the experience.
