Battlefield 6 Season 2 launched on February 17, 2026, at 4:00 a.m. PT (12:00 UTC). It is no longer an upcoming season: its three phases—Extreme Measures, Nightfall, and Hunter/Prey—rolled out between February and April 2026.
When did Battlefield 6 Season 2 come out?
EA announced that Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Season 2 would begin February 17, 2026, at 4:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 UTC. The season’s content arrived in three sequential phases rather than as competing versions of the season. EA’s update announcement later confirmed that the update had gone live.

The phase dates and additions above describe EA’s announcements. The roadmap’s Hunter/Prey date inconsistency is in EA’s own page; the available announcement does not establish which of the two dates should be treated as definitive.
What did Extreme Measures add?
Contaminated and VL-7
Contaminated was designed as a large European mountainside battlefield centered on a German airbase. EA described it as supporting all combat sizes, land vehicles, and helicopters. Its accompanying VL-7 Strike playlist used fictional psychoactive smoke as a disorientation effect, not a damage source; soldiers could reduce its impact with masks and filters.

Launch equipment and REDSEC modes
EA announced three weapons, two gadgets, and the AH-6 Little Bird for the launch phase. Its update announcement specifically named the M121 A2, GRT-CPS, VCR-2, 9K38 IGLA, HTI-Mk2, and Protective Mask. These are launch additions, distinct from the dirt bike and CZ3A1 announced for Nightfall. REDSEC’s smoke-focused launch experiences included Gauntlet: Altered State and Battle Royale – Synthesis.
What did Nightfall and Hunter/Prey add?
Nightfall’s underground combat
Hagental Base was announced as an underground map focused on infantry combat. The Nightfall mode paired low visibility with night-vision goggles, flashlights, and thermal attachments. For REDSEC, EA announced the Defense Testing Complex 3 point of interest at Fort Lyndon and Gauntlet: Nightfall. The phase’s other announced additions included a dirt bike, CZ3A1 submachine gun, VZ.61 sidearm, additional attachments, Portal improvements, and a bonus path.

Hunter/Prey’s fight over Hagental Base
Operation Augur was the announced centerpiece of the final phase: a limited-time Battlefield 6 mode pitting Pax Armata against NATO over control of Hagental Base’s fate. EA also listed a vehicle and a melee weapon, but the roadmap’s April 12 versus April 14 discrepancy prevents assigning the phase a single unambiguous date based on that page.
How many gameplay improvements did the Season 2 update include?
EA said the update contained more than 240 gameplay improvements and quality-of-life fixes, shaped by community feedback and real match data. That is EA’s reported figure, not an independently audited count. In the official announcement, EA Community Manager EA_Leeuw wrote: “Gameplay improvements, fixes, and Season 2 Challenges are now in place and available for everyone.”

Did Season 2 require a separate purchase?
EA describes seasonal content as free updates to Battlefield 6, alongside optional Battle Pass and Battlefield Pro products. The Season 2 gameplay additions were updates to the game, not a separately required Season 2 purchase. Players looking for the game itself should check the storefront for their platform; EA’s official page links to platform stores, but this article does not establish current price or physical-copy availability.
