Coverage called it the “Monster Energy” skin because of its vivid green look; reporting around the change linked the outfit’s darker appearance to complaints about unrealistic cosmetics, but EA did not say player backlash caused the adjustment.
What EA said about the System Override skin
In its known-issues entry for Update 1.1.1.0, EA wrote: “The System Override cosmetic is currently too saturated and will be reduced in vibrancy in a later update.” That is the official explanation: EA acknowledged the cosmetic’s saturation and described a planned visual adjustment.
EA’s October 24, 2025 update notice scheduled Update 1.1.1.0 for October 28 and said the update included fixes and quality-of-life improvements informed by player feedback. That broad framing was not a skin-specific explanation of why System Override would change.
Why players called it the “Monster Energy” skin
“Monster Energy skin” is a nickname used in coverage, not the cosmetic’s official name. EA’s known-issues page calls it System Override, and the sources do not establish an official Monster Energy collaboration. The nickname refers to the outfit’s conspicuous bright green coloring.

Contemporary reporting described criticism of cosmetics that players considered too bright or unrealistic for Battlefield’s more grounded look. Insider Gaming reported on October 28, 2025 that System Override’s green was darkened after community dissatisfaction with unrealistic-looking skins. This records the reporting’s account of the reaction and appearance; it does not establish that EA explicitly said backlash prompted the change. No representative poll or named statistic quantifying player reaction was reported.
What changed, and what remains unconfirmed
EA’s official record establishes that it planned to reduce System Override’s vibrancy, but does not specify a shade, percentage, or exact implementation date in the cited notice. Insider Gaming reported that the green looked darker after the Season 1 update. GamesRadar later also described the “Monster Energy” skin as toned down while covering the separate Wicked Grin skin’s removal; that article is not an official explanation of System Override’s adjustment.
