Neither game is universally cheaper. Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty both layer recurring seasonal passes over a paid game or a free-access mode, so the answer depends on whether you buy only the standard pass, choose a premium tier, or skip seasonal purchases entirely. Battlefield 6’s Season 5 system emphasizes military-themed customization and adds progression and Portal conveniences through Battlefield Pro. Call of Duty’s Black Ops 6/Warzone system offers a free track, paid Battle Pass tiers and BlackCell, with a wider catalog of operators, blueprints, finishing moves and crossover items.
For a grounded visual style, Battlefield 6 has the clearer stated direction. For the broadest and most varied seasonal catalog, Call of Duty has the stronger documented range. Activision explicitly says its pass rewards do not provide gameplay advantages; Battlefield Pro includes time-saving and hosting features, so its value is not purely cosmetic.

The short answer: compare the package you will actually buy
A fair Battlefield 6-versus-Call of Duty cost comparison has three separate parts: the initial game access, the ordinary seasonal pass and any premium upgrade. A player who buys neither pass pays no recurring pass cost in either ecosystem. A player who buys one standard pass each season faces different currencies and reward structures, while a premium-tier buyer is paying for different kinds of extras rather than simply more skins.

Activision documents a free Call of Duty pass, a Base Battle Pass for 1,100 Call of Duty Points, a Battle Pass Bundle for 2,400 points and BlackCell. BlackCell includes the pass, 20 tokens, 1,100 COD Points, an instant-rewards page, exclusive operator and weapon cosmetics and a 10% XP boost. A documented Season 4 BlackCell track contained more than 130 item rewards when completed.
Those figures are season- and region-sensitive. They should be checked against the live store before purchase, and they should not be converted into a claim that one game is always cheaper. The underlying game price, platform, edition, taxes, currency exchange and how many seasons you complete can change the result.
How Battlefield 6’s seasonal monetization works
The standard Battle Pass
Electronic Arts’ current Season 5 listing describes a pass with 100-plus tiers of unique items. It also lists six instant unlocks, a persistent Portal server and a 10% XP bonus. Rewards are earned through weekly challenges and ordinary XP. The pass page says a player reaches the next tier every 10 points.
There is an important purchase-timing rule: you must buy the pass to claim rewards from tiers you have already reached. In practice, you can play first and decide later, but reaching a tier does not grant its paid reward until the pass is purchased. This makes the pass a retroactive claim on completed progression rather than an automatic grant of every item shown in the track.
Battlefield Pro
Battlefield Pro is the premium Battlefield 6 offer for the documented season. EA lists the Season 5 Battle Pass, 25 tier skips, 5% extra XP, a vehicle radio station, special assignments, extra challenge rerolls, Portal hosting for up to 100 players, an exclusive bonus path and six instant unlocks. The product page lists Pro at €24.99; the page also displays 1,100 currency units for the standard pass. Because the store can show different local taxes and currencies, treat those as the listed reference prices, not a universal worldwide total.

- Pre-order Battlefield 6 Phantom Edition and get the Pre-order Bonus: Tombstone Pack*. Includes a Soldier Skin, Weapon package, Tombstone XP Boost Set, Player Card, Soldier Patch, and more
The six Pro instant unlocks illustrate the type of content being sold: soldier skins, a helicopter vehicle skin, an assault-rifle weapon package, a player-card background and an ice-climbing-axe melee skin are among the examples shown. These are customization items, while the tier skips, XP increase, assignments and rerolls affect how quickly or conveniently other rewards can be earned.
What the Battlefield benefits mean in play
Battlefield Pro does not turn a locked weapon or map into a paid power advantage in the documented offer. Its practical advantages are reduced grind, more flexibility when challenges are inconvenient and access to expanded Portal hosting. The difference matters to two very different buyers:
- A cosmetic-focused player may value the soldier, vehicle, weapon-package, melee and player-card items and ignore most of the convenience features.
- A regular player who completes weekly challenges or runs a private community server may value the XP, rerolls, assignments and 100-player Portal hosting more than any individual skin.
The standard pass itself also includes a persistent Portal server in the current listing, while Pro specifically advertises hosting for up to 100 players. Check the live product description for the exact server entitlement attached to the edition you are buying, because EA’s seasonal store language can change.
How Call of Duty’s Battle Pass and BlackCell work
The free pass
Call of Duty’s Black Ops 6 and Warzone system has a free Battle Pass track. It contains access to selected seasonal rewards, but Activision says the free pass does not provide Battle Pass Tokens. That distinction matters if you expect to choose your route through the catalog or finish the pass quickly.
Base Battle Pass and Battle Pass Bundle
The Base Battle Pass costs 1,100 Call of Duty Points and provides access to more than 100 unlockable rewards, plus a 10% Battle Pass XP boost. The Battle Pass Bundle costs 2,400 points and adds 20 Battle Pass Tokens. Tokens let you move through the pass more quickly or select rewards without relying solely on normal progression.

Activision’s support documentation says Battle Pass XP earned in Black Ops 6, Warzone and Warzone Mobile contributes to Battle Pass Tokens. Tokens can also be purchased with COD Points. That shared progression is useful for players who move between the paid Black Ops 6 multiplayer game, its other modes and Warzone, rather than treating each title as a separate seasonal grind.
BlackCell
BlackCell is the top documented Call of Duty tier. It includes the Battle Pass, 20 tokens, 1,100 COD Points, an instant-rewards page, exclusive operator skins and weapon blueprints and a 10% XP boost. The returned 1,100 COD Points can offset a future standard pass if you spend them on that purpose, but they are not a cash refund and their value depends on whether you continue playing and use the currency inside the same ecosystem.
The official Season 4 announcement describes a catalog with more than 130 item rewards for a fully completed BlackCell track. It identifies operator skins, weapon blueprints, calling cards and finishing moves, including reactive and Mastercraft-style blueprints, as well as collaboration content. The same announcement names a Ballerina collaboration, illustrating how far the catalog can extend beyond conventional military presentation.
Season deadlines and automatic spending
A Call of Duty seasonal pass expires when the next season begins. Activision says unspent tokens are automatically spent on the remaining rewards at season end. If you care about selecting specific sectors or saving tokens for a later decision, do not leave the pass unfinished until the deadline. The automatic spend can complete the track, but it may not follow the order you would have chosen manually.
Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty side by side
| Feature | Battlefield 6 | Call of Duty: Black Ops 6/Warzone |
|---|---|---|
| Seasonal structure | Season 5 Battle Pass with 100-plus tiers; rewards earned through XP and weekly challenges | Free pass plus paid Base Battle Pass, Battle Pass Bundle and BlackCell |
| Standard pass price listed in the cited documentation | 1,100 currency units on EA’s comparison table; denomination and regional total vary | 1,100 COD Points |
| Premium offer | Battlefield Pro, listed at €24.99 on the Season 5 product page | BlackCell; the cited support page describes its contents but does not give a single cash price |
| Premium progression help | 25 tier skips, 5% extra XP, special assignments and extra challenge rerolls | Battle Pass Bundle and BlackCell each include 20 tokens |
| Currency returned | The listed Battlefield Pro benefits do not specify a currency return | BlackCell includes 1,100 COD Points; the Season 4 announcement says premium progression can return up to 1,100 COD Points |
| Documented catalog scale | 100-plus Battle Pass tiers | More than 130 item rewards for a fully completed Season 4 BlackCell track |
| Other premium features | Vehicle radio station, exclusive bonus path and Portal hosting for up to 100 players | Instant-rewards page and exclusive operator and weapon cosmetics |
| Season deadline | The cited listing explains the tier system but does not establish a universal expiration rule | Pass expires when the next season begins; unspent tokens are automatically spent on remaining rewards |
The table compares the documented offers, not the total number of cosmetics each game has ever released. Seasonal inventories change, and the available evidence does not support a reliable all-time count that would prove one game has more cosmetics overall.

Which game has the more realistic cosmetic style?
Battlefield 6: military customization first
Battlefield 6’s documented reward categories center on soldier skins, vehicle skins, weapon packages, melee items and player-card backgrounds. That vocabulary is consistent with a military customization system: the examples are attached to soldiers, vehicles and equipment rather than built primarily around celebrity or fantasy personas.
Christian Buhl, Battlefield 6’s technical director, summarized the stated direction as: “We want to be a gritty, realistic shooter.” That is a developer intention, not a promise that every seasonal item will look identical or that the game contains no stylized elements. It does, however, make Battlefield the clearer choice for a buyer who wants the cosmetic catalog to remain anchored in a grounded military setting.
Call of Duty: a broader operator and crossover catalog
Call of Duty’s official seasonal catalog covers operator skins, reactive and Mastercraft weapon blueprints, finishing moves, calling cards, emotes and collaboration items. BlackCell adds exclusive variants on top of the ordinary pass. The named Ballerina collaboration shows that the catalog can move well beyond a strictly realistic military look.
That breadth is useful if you want expressive operators, dramatic weapon presentation or crossover collectibles. It is less suitable if “realistic” means that every playable character and weapon appearance should stay within a restrained military palette. Call of Duty’s catalog can contain conventional combat gear and highly stylized items in the same season.

What cannot be concluded from the catalogs
There is no sound basis for saying Battlefield 6 has fewer cosmetics overall or that Call of Duty has more total items across all seasons. The documented figures describe particular passes: Battlefield 6’s current listing has 100-plus tiers, while the cited Season 4 BlackCell track has more than 130 item rewards when completed. Different games count tiers and items differently, and both stores change over time.
Best Value
- Requires Battlefield 6 (sold separately) or Battlefield REDSEC, all game updates, persistent internet connection & an EA account.
- Battlefield Coins can be used in the in-game Store to purchase Soldiers, Weapon Packages and a host of other cosmetic accessories and boosters. Can also be used to purchase the Battle Pass.
Do either game sell pay-to-win items?
Call of Duty’s stated position
Activision’s support documentation is explicit: “Base Battle Pass, Battle Pass Bundle or BlackCell rewards are cosmetic and do not provide any gameplay advantages.” On that statement, the paid pass choices are not intended to increase damage, health, movement speed or access to a superior weapon in a match.
Tokens and XP boosts can change how fast you reach rewards, but faster progression is not the same as stronger equipment. The distinction also applies to BlackCell’s exclusive operator skins and weapon blueprints: they change presentation and customization, not the underlying combat statistics according to the cited policy.
Battlefield 6’s convenience features
Battlefield Pro mixes visual rewards with progression and hosting benefits. The 25 tier skips, XP boost, assignments and challenge rerolls can reduce the time required to unlock content. Portal hosting can expand what a player can do with a private or community server. Those are meaningful benefits for some players, but they are different from selling a weapon or map that gives a direct combat advantage.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteA careful comparison should therefore use two labels: cosmetic content for skins, weapon packages, player cards and similar presentation items; and convenience or access features for XP, skips, rerolls, assignments and hosting. Calling every non-cosmetic benefit “pay to win” obscures the difference, while calling the entire premium offer “cosmetic only” would ignore the documented Battlefield progression and Portal features.
How to work out your own seasonal cost
If you buy one standard pass and finish it
- Write down the live regional price of the Battlefield 6 standard pass or the 1,100 COD Points price for the Call of Duty Base Battle Pass.
- Check whether the currency purchase requires a larger platform denomination than the pass itself; unused currency is part of your real outlay even if it remains in your wallet.
- Confirm how much of the pass you expect to complete. A pass you barely play may have a poor value compared with a pass you finish.
- For Call of Duty, include the potential return of up to 1,100 COD Points only if you will keep the account and spend that currency on eligible future content.
This produces a seasonal-spend comparison rather than a claim about which game is cheaper to own. It also keeps returned currency separate from a discount: the points remain platform currency, not money returned to your payment method.
If you are considering Battlefield Pro or BlackCell
- List the visual items you actually want before counting tier skips or boosts as value.
- Estimate whether 25 Battlefield skips or 20 Call of Duty tokens save time you would otherwise spend playing. If you normally complete a pass, the skip value may be small.
- Decide whether Portal hosting for up to 100 players, challenge rerolls or special assignments matter to your play group.
- For BlackCell, decide whether the exclusive operator and weapon cosmetics, instant-rewards page and returned 1,100 COD Points justify the premium over the Base Battle Pass.
- Check the current season’s reward screen. A premium product can retain the same headline structure while changing the actual skins, blueprints and collaborations.
If you do not want recurring spending
Both systems can be played without buying every seasonal upgrade. Call of Duty provides a free pass track, and Battlefield 6’s paid pass is optional. You will see fewer paid rewards and may miss premium conveniences, but skipping a season prevents a recurring purchase from becoming an assumed part of the game’s annual cost.
Which pass fits which player?
Choose Battlefield 6’s standard pass when
- You prefer soldier, vehicle, weapon-package, melee and player-card customization.
- You want a 100-plus-tier progression track and the listed 10% XP bonus without the full Pro package.
- You value a persistent Portal server but do not need Pro’s extra skips, rerolls or assignments.
Choose Battlefield Pro when
- You regularly complete weekly challenges and want 25 tier skips or additional XP.
- You host a large Portal group and can use the advertised capacity of up to 100 players.
- You consider convenience features part of the purchase, not just the skins.
Choose Call of Duty’s Base Battle Pass when
- You want access to more than 100 rewards and a 10% Battle Pass XP boost at the lower paid tier.
- You play across Black Ops 6, Warzone and Warzone Mobile and benefit from shared Battle Pass progression.
- You do not need 20 tokens or BlackCell’s exclusive cosmetics.
Choose the Battle Pass Bundle or BlackCell when
- You want to accelerate progression with 20 tokens.
- You want BlackCell-exclusive operator skins, weapon blueprints and the instant-rewards page.
- You will use the included 1,100 COD Points rather than treating them as an immediate cash saving.
Purchase pitfalls and checks
- Comparing unlike currencies: Battlefield’s listing uses 1,100 currency units, while Call of Duty uses COD Points. Compare the actual regional checkout totals, not the displayed numbers alone.
- Ignoring the initial game cost: A pass comparison cannot establish ownership cost without the platform, edition and access model.
- Counting every tier as a unique item: Battlefield reports 100-plus tiers; Call of Duty’s cited BlackCell figure reports more than 130 item rewards. Those are not identical counting methods.
- Assuming premium means stronger weapons: Activision says its listed pass rewards are cosmetic. Battlefield Pro’s documented extras are progression, challenge and hosting conveniences.
- Missing the Call of Duty season cutoff: The pass ends when the next season begins, and unspent tokens are automatically spent on remaining rewards.
- Buying Battlefield Pro for cosmetics alone: Its price includes skips, XP, assignments, rerolls and Portal features. If you will not use those, compare the standard pass instead.
- Assuming a catalog stays fixed: Season numbers, item counts, collaborations and prices change. Verify the live regional store and current season before paying.
Bottom line
Battlefield 6 is the better fit for a grounded military cosmetic direction and for players who can use Portal and progression conveniences. Call of Duty is the better fit for a larger variety of operator looks, weapon blueprints, finishing moves and crossover presentation, with a documented free track and BlackCell currency return. Neither is categorically cheaper: calculate your platform’s initial game price, the pass tier you will buy, how much of the season you will complete and whether premium convenience features have real value to you.
