Short answer: the available rankings point to the KORD 6P67, M4A1, PW5A3, DRS-IAR, KTS100 MK8, RPK-74M, SVDM, M2010 ESR and M87A1 as notable picks—but they do not agree on every gun, and no weapon is best for every range, build or mode. This is an editorial guide, not an official EA ranking or a measured weapon test. It covers the roster documented in EA’s guide marked recently updated for Season 4; check the live game for later additions and categories not fully established in that guide excerpt.
Best Battlefield 6 guns at a glance
| Use case | Pick | Why it stands out |
|---|---|---|
| Assault rifle | KORD 6P67 | God is a Geek ranks it at the top of its assault-rifle list; BF6 Tracker’s displayed score ordering is less favorable. |
| Carbine | M4A1 | God is a Geek names it among its top carbines; BF6 Tracker displays it near the top of its A tier. |
| SMG | PW5A3 | God is a Geek places it at the top of its SMG list, while BF6 Tracker displays it much lower. |
| LMG | DRS-IAR, KTS100 MK8 or RPK-74M | God is a Geek names all three among its top LMGs; choose according to the handling and sustained-fire trade-offs you prefer. |
| DMR | SVDM | God is a Geek names it its top DMR; EA has also announced a REDSEC armor adjustment involving the SVDM. |
| Sniper rifle | M2010 ESR | God is a Geek names it its top sniper rifle. |
| Shotgun | M87A1 | God is a Geek names it its top shotgun; BF6 Tracker also displays it near the top of its A tier. |
These are signals from two third-party ranking approaches, not proof of the highest win rate, most-used gun or universally strongest weapon. God is a Geek’s September 4, 2026 list weighs factors including range-specific damage, rate of fire, capacity and recoil control. BF6 Tracker uses a different live score ordering, and the cited page excerpt does not establish a comparable scientific test. See God is a Geek’s dated list and BF6 Tracker’s live tier list.
How to read these tiers
The tiers below are editorial shorthand for the available evidence and weapon roles—not a claim that each gun was tested head-to-head. S marks a weapon explicitly singled out near the top of a cited category ranking. A marks another cited standout or a strong category option without evidence for an exact ordering. B means a usable, role-specific option for which these sources do not establish a standout placement. The sources do not support a reliable D tier or a precise order within a tier, so this guide does not invent one.
EA describes SMGs as primary weapons with the highest average fire rate and a close-range role; LMGs emphasize sustained fire and magazine capacity; DMRs are semi-automatic precision weapons for longer ranges; sniper rifles specialize in long-range engagements. Attachments can change damage profile, handling and sight picture, so a tier is not a substitute for testing your own build. EA’s weapon-class guide says: “Both Primary and Secondary Weapons can be tested in the Loadout’s Firing Range.”

Assault rifles
S tier: KORD 6P67. God is a Geek names it the leading assault rifle in its September 2026 ranking. BF6 Tracker’s displayed list puts it much lower, so treat the S placement as one publication’s editorial pick rather than a consensus verdict.
A tier: M433, B36A4, SOR-556 MK2, AK4D, TR-7, NVO-228E, L85A3. These rifles appear in EA’s Season 4-updated category roster, but the cited ranking evidence does not establish individual placements for them. Their A designation here means category options worth comparing in the firing range, not that they have been measured as equal or superior to the KORD.
Roster note: EA’s guide also mentions VCR-2 and EF88 in third-party ranking context, but their category placement was not confirmed in the documented official excerpt used here. Confirm their current in-game category before comparing them as assault rifles.
Carbines
S tier: M4A1. God is a Geek names it among its top carbines, and BF6 Tracker displays it near the top of its A tier. That makes it the clearest carbine pick in the available evidence, though neither source establishes that it wins in every build or mode.
A tier: SG 553R. God is a Geek also names this among its top carbines. The official roster excerpt available for this article does not establish the complete current carbine list, so this is not a full carbine-by-carbine ranking. Use the live class list to confirm additions and category placement.
Rank #2

Submachine guns
S tier: PW5A3. God is a Geek ranks it as its top SMG, but BF6 Tracker’s displayed score places it much lower. Its close-range role fits EA’s general description of the class; the disagreement means players should validate performance at their own engagement distances rather than assume a universal winner.
A tier: SGX, PW7A2, UMG-40, USG-90, KV9, SCW-10, SL9, CZ3A1 and PP-19. These are on EA’s documented SMG roster, but the cited rankings do not provide enough shared evidence to sort them precisely. Compare controllability, handling, magazine and reload trade-offs, and how quickly a build remains manageable outside close range.
Light machine guns
S tier: DRS-IAR, KTS100 MK8 and RPK-74M. God is a Geek names all three among its top LMGs. They are category standouts in that list, not a proven one-two-three ordering. EA describes the class as built around sustained fire and magazine capacity, so weigh those strengths against handling needs for your mode and position.
A tier: L110, M/60, M123K, M250, M240L and M121 A2. These appear in EA’s documented LMG roster, but no cited evidence establishes a relative tier order for them. Treat A as a practical shortlist for role-fit testing, not a performance measurement.
Designated marksman rifles
S tier: SVDM. God is a Geek names it the top DMR in its list. That ranking does not settle how it performs against every target or in every mode; REDSEC’s announced armor changes are a separate consideration.
Rank #3

A tier: M39 EMR, LMR27, SVK-8.6, GRT-CPS and VSSM. EA’s documented roster includes these DMRs, but the cited ranking evidence does not support exact placements among them. EA’s class description identifies DMRs as semi-automatic, long-range precision weapons; test range and attachment choices rather than transferring another mode’s assumptions.
Sniper rifles
S tier: M2010 ESR. God is a Geek names it its top sniper rifle. EA has previewed sniper-rifle sweet-spot tuning for Season 5, so the placement should be revisited after the relevant update takes effect.
A tier: SV-98, PSR, Mini Scout, L115A3 and Interdictor. These are on EA’s documented sniper roster. The sources cited here do not establish a detailed ordering among them. EA describes the class as specializing in long range; the best fit depends on your range, accuracy and preferred handling.
Shotguns
S tier: M87A1. God is a Geek names it the top shotgun, and BF6 Tracker shows it near the top of its displayed A tier. It is the strongest cross-source signal in this guide, although the two rankings still do not amount to a controlled comparison.
A tier: M1014, 18.5KS-K and DB-12. EA’s documented shotgun roster includes these models, but the cited evidence does not provide a supported ordering between them or against the M87A1. Compare them in the firing range with the attachments and engagement distances you actually use.

- Battlefield 6 Phantom Edition includes Phantom Squad, Battlefield Pro Token, Shrouded & Drop Shadow Weapon Package, Chimera Vehicle Skin, Phantom XP Boost Set and more

- MORE WAYS TO BATTLE: Victory, however you envision it; Seize glory in iconic, large-scale modes including Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush; Fight in iconic locations all over the world including Cairo, Brooklyn, Gibraltar and more
Secondary weapons
EA’s documented secondary roster lists the P18, ES 5.7, M45A1 and M44. The ranking sources cited here do not establish a tier order for secondaries, so no performance ranking is assigned. EA says secondary weapons can also be tested in the Loadout’s Firing Range.

Choose for your class and weapon rules
In Closed Weapon experiences, EA says Assault is restricted to assault rifles, Engineer to SMGs, Support to LMGs, and Recon to sniper rifles, with carbines, DMRs and shotguns available alongside those signature categories. Open and Closed rules change how widely a weapon can be used. Check the experience’s rules before building a loadout around a category your class may not be allowed to carry.
Choose for engagement distance
- Close range: Start with the SMG or shotgun category, then check whether the build stays controllable in the spaces you fight in.
- Mid-range: Compare assault rifles and carbines for the balance of handling and controllability you prefer.
- Long range: Consider DMRs for semi-automatic precision or sniper rifles for a dedicated long-range role.
- Sustained fire: Consider an LMG when magazine capacity and extended firing matter more than quick handling.
These are class-role recommendations, not weapon-specific damage or time-to-kill claims. The available sources do not provide current, comparable numeric TTK data for every weapon and attachment setup.
Test the build, not just the weapon name
EA says attachments can alter a weapon’s damage profile, handling or sight picture. Use the Loadout’s Firing Range to test targets at different distances and read the damage feedback; a weapon’s tier can shift in practice when your attachments, target range or control preferences change.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does this tier list apply to REDSEC?
Not without qualification. EA’s October 1, 2026 Season 5 preview describes forthcoming REDSEC armor adjustments for selected weapon categories and ammunition groups, including an additional bullet needed against armored targets in specified cases; it also says 7.62mm DMRs take an additional bullet past 21 m. Those statements concern REDSEC armored targets and should not be applied to multiplayer as universal weapon changes. Do not infer a specific gun’s threshold from its broad category alone; consult the official update for the weapon and ammunition details.

EA’s September 30 community update says detailed weapon-by-weapon Season 5 notes would follow. For current mode-specific balance, check EA’s Season 5 and Beyond preview and the September community update. The preview also describes recoil and body-damage-multiplier adjustments intended to affect close-range fights, longer-range precision and sniper sweet spots; live tuning can change a ranking after the preview.
Why other Battlefield 6 tier lists disagree
The disagreement is visible in the cited lists: God is a Geek puts KORD 6P67 and PW5A3 at the top of their categories, while BF6 Tracker displays those guns relatively low. M4A1 and M87A1 appear much more favorably in BF6 Tracker’s excerpt. This does not establish that one list is correct; ranking methods, modes, player skill, range and attachments can produce different conclusions. Neither source supports calling a weapon the most-used or highest-win-rate gun.
EA’s official weapon-class guide is the source for categories, class restrictions and firing-range guidance: Loadout Creation and Weapon Classes. It is marked recently updated for Season 4, so use the live game and later official updates to confirm any roster changes beyond the documented list here.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best beginner gun in Battlefield 6?
The available evidence does not establish a single beginner weapon. Start with a gun in your class’s permitted category, then test its handling and controllability at the distances you usually fight.
Recommended Free Tools
What is the best close-range weapon in Battlefield 6?
PW5A3 is God is a Geek’s top SMG pick, but BF6 Tracker ranks it much lower in its displayed list. SMGs and shotguns suit close-range roles in general; test a build in the firing range before treating either category as a universal winner.
Is this tier list valid for REDSEC?
Use it as a starting point, not a direct REDSEC ranking. EA has previewed REDSEC-specific armor changes, and those should not be treated as universal multiplayer changes.
