Battlefield 6’s Winter Offensive launched on December 9, 2025, as required Update 1.1.3.0 for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC. It brought a limited-time winter version of Empire State, Ice Lock event modes, an 11-tier reward path, and a broad set of gameplay and interface refinements. EA’s December 11, 2025, follow-up also documented launch-period issues and planned hotfixes; it does not establish their status today.
When Winter Offensive launched
EA announced the update for December 9, 2025, at 4 a.m. PT (12 p.m. UTC). It was a required update for Battlefield 6 owners and REDSEC players. The official announcement covered content for both games: EA’s Winter Offensive announcement.
What Ice Lock added
Battlefield 6: winter Empire State and Freeze
Ice Lock Empire State was a temporary winter visual version of the Empire State map. The visual update did not add icy patches or sliding physics. In the associated Ice Lock event, special Conquest and Domination versions used a Freeze mechanic in designated areas outside team headquarters.
Soldiers in those areas accumulated cold exposure, displayed on the HUD. At 100% Freeze, the player took damage over time until reaching a critical health state of 35%; passive health regeneration and most gadget-based regeneration were blocked. Sprinting slowed Freeze buildup. An Adrenaline Injector, designated heat zones, and friendly or hostile Incendiary effects could counter it. EA said Freeze applied only to specific experiences, not the game generally.

Other rewards included cosmetics and XP boosts; some premium rewards required the Season 1 Battle Pass. The Bonus Path could progress at the same time as the Season 1 Battle Pass. Players earned points through specified weekly challenges and Winter Offensive event challenges. EA’s event announcement and Update 1.1.3.0 notes describe the track and content.

Rubberbanding on PC systems near minimum specifications was still under development at that time. The dated status report is in EA’s December 11 community update.
