The reports describe changes in color, not measured effects on camouflage, visibility during play, or gameplay balance. No relevant statistic establishes how many players objected or how large the color changes were.
Why did the colors attract criticism?
The disagreement was about whether some Season 1 cosmetics fit Battlefield 6’s visual identity. Before launch, Battlefield Studios staff described grounded, franchise-authentic cosmetics as a design goal. In an August 1, 2025 interview with PC Gamer, design director Shashank Uchil said, “It has to be grounded.” Producer Alexia Christofi likewise described a goal of allowing expressive skins while keeping them grounded and authentic to the franchise.

When Wicked Grin appeared in an early Season 1 build, PC Gamer reported complaints about its bright-blue color and fit with the game’s identity. That coverage also recorded dissenting views: it shows a vocal reaction, not a poll or evidence of what most players thought. One player reaction quoted by GamesRadar asked, “why do you want to dress as a blue crayola[?]” It is an example of the criticism, not a representative verdict from the player base.
Did EA say backlash caused the changes?
Not in the reviewed sources. GamesRadar’s October 30 report said there had been no official developer statement at that time. EA’s October 24, 2025 Update 1.1.1.0 notes cover the October 28 Season 1 update and list technical, gameplay, visibility, audio, interface, and map changes, but do not identify either skin recolor as a patch-note change.

The careful conclusion is that the reported revisions followed public criticism; the available documentation does not establish that EA made them because of that criticism. A lack of mention in those update notes is not proof that no behind-the-scenes adjustment occurred.
