Battlefield 6 has two different modes described as “Casual”: Casual Breakthrough, a multiplayer mode that launched November 1, 2025, and Casual Battle Royale, a REDSEC mode that arrived June 30, 2026. Both use AI opponents to make play more approachable, but they belong to different experiences and are not the same mode.
What is Casual Breakthrough in Battlefield 6?
Casual Breakthrough is a Battlefield 6 multiplayer mode built for a more relaxed match. In its November 12, 2025 community update, EA said it launched on November 1 with smaller teams and bot support, while still allowing players to earn progression and complete challenges. EA’s November 12, 2025 community update described it as a way to experience Battlefield at a less intense pace.

EA also said it was exploring additional maps and considering a similar Casual Conquest mode. That wording described possibilities, not confirmed releases; the update did not announce that Casual Conquest had launched.
What is Casual Battle Royale in REDSEC?
Casual Battle Royale is a separate REDSEC mode, not another name for Casual Breakthrough. EA’s May 8, 2026 Season 3 roadmap described it as a mixed player-and-bot environment for squads who want to learn Battle Royale, practice, or play casually. The Season 3 roadmap framed it as a more approachable entry point to REDSEC.

EA’s June 30, 2026 Game Update 1.3.3.0 announcement said Casual Battle Royale was available as a faster, more accessible BR Quads mode with additional AI bots. EA’s update announcement is the cited source for that launch detail.
How the two Casual modes differ
| Mode | Where it appears | What EA says it is for | Opponents | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Casual Breakthrough | Battlefield 6 multiplayer | More relaxed play, learning, experimenting, progression, and challenges | Smaller teams with bot support | Launched November 1, 2025 |
| Casual Battle Royale | REDSEC Battle Royale | A more approachable way for squads to practice or play casually | Mixed human and AI combatants; the June 2026 update called out additional AI bots | Available June 30, 2026 |
Are Recommended Drop Zones live?
Not confirmed. In its October 1, 2026 look-ahead, EA said it was exploring Recommended Drop Zones for Casual Battle Royale. The proposed feature would point newcomers toward recommended points of interest and nearby loot, aiming to help them avoid immediate squad conflict. EA’s Season 5 look-ahead says planned features may change, be delayed, or be removed, so this should be treated as exploratory rather than a shipped feature.

Is Battlefield 6 Casual mode against bots?
Both modes include bots, but neither is described as exclusively bot-only. Casual Breakthrough has smaller teams with bot support; Casual Battle Royale mixes players and AI opponents, with additional AI bots noted in the June 2026 update. The official descriptions do not establish that every match has the same human-to-bot balance.
Do you need to buy Casual mode separately?
EA’s cited materials present these as modes within Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, not as separate purchases. They do not identify a separate Casual-mode purchase. EA’s Battlefield 6 page has game information; check the platform and edition details relevant to you if you do not own the game.
