What did the leak report say?
On October 24, 2025, IGN published a Daily Fix item titled “Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Official Name, Release Date Reportedly Leak.” Its headline framed the details as reported, rather than confirmed. IGN’s item establishes that the name-and-date story was circulating, but does not independently verify how the original leak was obtained.

On October 27, TechRadar attributed the claims to ModernWarzone: the game mode would be called Battlefield: RedSec and arrive the next day. TechRadar noted that EA had not confirmed those details at the time. Read TechRadar’s October 27 report.
What name and date did EA confirm?
EA announced the experience as Battlefield REDSEC and said it launched on October 28, 2025, alongside Battlefield 6 Season One. The official name uses “REDSEC” in all caps; “Battlefield: RedSec” was the wording used in the pre-announcement leak coverage. Is Battlefield REDSEC free, and is Battlefield 6 required?
EA describes REDSEC as a free-to-play experience that players can enter without owning Battlefield 6. That makes REDSEC distinct from the separately sold Battlefield 6 game; ownership of the base game is not an access requirement for REDSEC. How the report changed from leak to confirmation
