Baldur’s Gate 3’s in-game Mod Manager gives players one place to browse, download, and manage supported mods, and Patch 8 improved several parts of that experience. It does not consolidate every community mod or make every mod available on every platform: the catalog and support depend on how a mod was made and approved.
What Patch 8 changed in the Mod Manager
Larian released Patch 8 on April 15, 2025, calling it Baldur’s Gate 3’s final major patch. Alongside cross-play, Photo Mode, 12 subclasses, Xbox Series S split-screen, and a Toolkit update, it shipped several Mod Manager improvements.
- Controller navigation between columns in the Installed tab.
- More accurate search filters.
- Clearer dependency feedback when enabling a mod.
- Fixes to thumbnails and to download and uninstall flows.
- Improvements to the Mod Verification window.
Patch 8 was the last major update for new content, not the end of all updates: Larian continued to release smaller hotfixes afterward. Its support index listed Hotfix #35, dated November 20, 2025, and Hotfix #34, dated September 23, 2025, when checked for this article. That index does not establish whether a later update has since appeared. Larian’s Patch 8 announcement and support page provide the official update details.
How to browse and manage supported mods
The in-game manager is the simplest starting point for mods in Larian’s official pipeline. Browse its listings and filters, read the description for prerequisites or extra setup, then download a mod. In the Installed tab, you can enable or disable mods you have installed. Larian’s guide to playing with mods warns that disabling some mods can affect existing saves.

- Open Baldur’s Gate 3’s in-game Mod Manager and browse or filter the available listings.
- Read a mod’s description before downloading it; check for dependencies and any instructions that require action outside the manager.
- Download the mod, then use the Installed tab to enable or disable it.
- Before changing the setup for an existing playthrough, consider the mod’s instructions and save impact. Disabling a mod is not guaranteed to leave a save unaffected.
The manager centralizes supported listings and basic management. It is not a universal index of mods hosted elsewhere, nor a guarantee that every listed mod will work with every game version or save.
How mod verification helps with multiplayer
For a modded multiplayer game, players need matching mod versions. The Mod Verification window helps identify differences and can prompt a player to enable, upgrade, downgrade, or install missing mods. This makes it easier to align the group’s setup, but does not remove the requirement to match versions. Larian describes the verification flow in its Patch 8 announcement and its player guide.

Which mods are available on PC, Mac, and console?
Larian’s official mod pipeline uses its Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit and mod.io. The Toolkit is for PC. To qualify for the in-game browser on console and Mac, mods must be made and uploaded using the Toolkit and pass internal testing. As a result, some PC mods are not available on those platforms, and third-party mods cannot be used on consoles.
Mods outside the official pipeline remain an option on platforms where players can use them, but Larian’s official support applies to mods distributed through mod.io. Some script-focused mods may fall outside that pipeline. A mod’s presence, recognition, or ability to install is not proof that Larian supports its compatibility or can troubleshoot it. Check compatibility after game updates
Mod compatibility can change when the game is updated. Around Patch 8’s release, Larian cautioned that some mods might not work immediately and could take time for their authors to update. Before starting or continuing a modded save, check the current game version and the mod author’s latest notes; do not treat an old compatibility statement as current without verification.
For historical context, Larian said in Community Update #32 in January 2025, during the Patch 8 stress-test period, “We’re entering 2025 with more than 100 million mods downloaded!” That is a figure published at that time, not a current download total. The Patch 8 announcement also cautioned: “Some things might not work immediately after a new update and it might take a little while before a mod can be updated.” Community Update #32 and the Patch 8 announcement give that context.
