If Battlefield V will not connect, first check whether EA’s or your platform’s services are available and whether your account can play online. Then restart the game, device, and router; test Ethernet against Wi-Fi; and only after those checks consider DNS or router settings. EA warns that online servers for older games may be shut down, so a Battlefield V support page alone does not confirm that its servers are currently live.
Identify what is failing
Before changing settings, note what happens and when. A sign-in failure, an inability to find or join a server, a mid-match disconnection, and lag or packet loss while still connected point to different parts of the connection path.
- Write down your platform and the exact error message.
- Check whether other games or online apps work on the same device.
- Check whether other devices using the same internet connection are affected.
- Note when the problem occurs and whether it happens every time or intermittently.
Download speed alone cannot confirm that a connection will work for online play; the official guidance cited here does not set a bandwidth figure that guarantees a successful connection.
Check EA servers, platform service, and account access
Start with EA’s server-status tool and check the network status for your platform. EA’s Battlefield V support page is a useful title hub, but it is not a live availability indicator. EA’s connection guidance also notes that online servers for older games may have been shut down; check the current status when the error occurs rather than assuming the game’s servers are available.

If services appear to be operating, verify that your account and platform access allow online play:
- Check that your EA account is not suspended or banned, deactivated, or deleted, and is not already active on another device.
- Review age-related settings or restrictions that may block online play.
- On console, confirm any required platform online subscription or access and check the platform’s network status.
- If you play on PC through Steam, EA directs Steam players to Steam Support for platform-specific connection help.
Restart the game, device, and router
- Close Battlefield V completely, reopen it, and try again. If needed, restart your PC or console.
- Restart the router: turn it off, unplug it, wait about one minute, reconnect its power, and turn it back on.
- Retry the game and note whether the error changes.
EA recommends restarting the router as a connection troubleshooting step. If a restart does not help, continue by testing the connection type rather than repeating the same step.

Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi
When practical, connect the gaming device directly to the router with an Ethernet cable and retry. EA says hardwired connections can be more reliable than wireless ones. This comparison helps isolate whether the wireless link may be contributing; it does not guarantee a fix.
- If Ethernet works while Wi-Fi does not, focus next on wireless signal conditions and interference.
- If both connection types fail but other devices and games work, continue checking Battlefield V, EA account access, and platform status.
- If several devices or online services have trouble, the issue may be broader than Battlefield V. This is a useful diagnostic inference, not a definitive cause test.
Improve Wi-Fi conditions
If the problem occurs on Wi-Fi, try improving the signal before changing router settings or buying equipment:

- Place the router in an open area and nearer to the gaming device.
- Reduce the number of walls and large objects between the router and device.
- Move the router or device away from nearby electronics that could interfere.
- In a crowded wireless environment, consult your router documentation or ask your internet service provider (ISP) about identifying a less busy Wi-Fi channel.
Try DNS and check the device clock
DNS translates human-readable internet addresses into addresses computers use. EA says an unreliable DNS service can contribute to connection trouble and lists Google DNS and OpenDNS as alternatives to try. Treat a DNS change as an optional test, not a certain fix: record your original settings first and follow your device, router, or ISP instructions. EA’s guidance notes that these are third-party services.
The Battlefield V PC manual also includes flushing the DNS cache among its troubleshooting suggestions. Use current instructions for your operating system; the steps differ by platform and version. EA additionally notes that an incorrect device date or time can sometimes cause connection issues, so check that the clock is set correctly.

Leave router and firewall changes for later
The Battlefield V manual lists UPnP and game-related port or firewall settings as possible troubleshooting areas, but the cited manual passage does not provide a port list. Router menus and instructions vary, so use current EA or platform documentation and your router manual, or ask your ISP for help.
Do not leave a firewall disabled as a routine fix. If you are unsure how to make a specific, limited change safely, do not guess at ports or settings; get platform-specific or ISP guidance instead.

Use packet-loss warnings cautiously
A 2022 EA Help result for legacy Battlefield V connection troubleshooting described an orange warning at 2–4% packet loss and a red warning at 5% or above. These are thresholds described for that EA warning, not a universal standard for playable connections or a guarantee that every platform’s diagnostic tool displays the same indicators.
When to contact EA or your ISP
If service status is normal, your account and platform access are valid, and the problem persists on Ethernet, gather the details you noted before making further changes. Contact EA when the failure appears limited to Battlefield V or EA account access. Contact your ISP when multiple devices or services are affected, or when you need help with advanced router or network settings.
- Include your platform, exact error text, and when the failure occurred.
- Say whether other games, apps, and devices on the same connection work.
- Describe whether Ethernet changes the result and which basic troubleshooting steps you have already tried.
EA’s connection troubleshooting guide provides its current general advice and support options. The Battlefield V manual’s PC troubleshooting section includes title-specific suggestions such as DNS-cache flushing, UPnP, and checking for conflicting programs like antivirus software or proxies.
