Battleplan launched on Steam on October 12, 2026. It is a single-player, World War II operational real-time strategy game built around drawing plans on a map, coordinating formations through a chain of command and keeping an army supplied. The launch campaign contains 11 historical missions, plus two tutorials, covering operations from the D-Day landings through Operation Varsity.
Battleplan release status: it is out now
The official Battleplan Steam community announcement titled “Battleplan is Out Now” is dated October 12, 2026, and the Steam store lists the same date as the PC release. That makes October 12 the actual launch date, not an early-access or future-release estimate.

The game was originally announced for July 14. On July 3, the publisher moved it to the third quarter after additional testing, citing work on plan-drafting precision, army management, bugs and crashes, localization, icons and presentation. A September 17 announcement then set October 12 as the revised date.
At the time of the October 13, 2026 storefront check, Steam displayed 101 user reviews, with 63% positive and an overall “Mixed” label. Those figures are a changing platform snapshot, not a permanent rating or an independent review verdict.

What kind of game is Battleplan?
Battleplan is a single-player, real-time operational strategy game set in World War II’s Western European campaigns. You command at the level of military operations rather than running a country’s economy, diplomacy or production system. The central question is how to move and support formations across a changing battlefield.
You can issue high-level orders and intervene directly when circumstances change. Divisions are modeled with headquarters, regiments, battalions and companies. Available forces include infantry, tanks, engineers, anti-tank guns, artillery and scouts. Divisions can be combined into corps or split down to company level, letting you choose between broad operational control and precise local action.

Launch campaign and included content
Eleven historical missions
The official October 2 launch overview says the release campaign contains 11 historical missions covering key operations from the D-Day landings through Operation Varsity. Missions represent different operational problems rather than a single uninterrupted battle map.
Two tutorials

Persistent army development
The campaign includes a persistent army that you can build and customize between battles. You recruit or promote officers, unlock historical units, requisition and upgrade forces, and carry decisions from one mission into the next. Officers and army composition therefore remain part of the campaign’s longer-term management rather than being discarded after each scenario.
How battles work
Draw plans, then let the chain of command execute
Battleplan’s defining interface is its map-based planning system. You draw multi-step plans directly on the battlefield, assigning routes and objectives to formations. Headquarters, officers and subordinate units then carry out those orders, while you monitor progress and intervene when the situation demands it.

Real-time simulation with control over tempo
Missions run in real time, but you can pause the simulation to issue orders and fast-forward when the front is stable. The store describes scenarios lasting from roughly one week to one month of simulated time, so tempo control is important when coordinating several formations.

Combined arms and terrain
Success depends on combining different unit types instead of treating every formation as interchangeable. Infantry can hold and clear positions, armor can exploit openings, engineers support difficult ground and artillery provides fire support. Terrain affects movement and supply flow, so a route that looks short on the map may be operationally expensive.

Supply lines are a primary objective
Depots sustain an advance, while terrain influences how supplies reach the front. Protecting your own supply network is as important as capturing ground. Cutting an opponent’s lines can starve forward units and turn a positional advantage into a wider collapse.

This is a Windows PC purchase with single-player support; the available listings do not present it as a multiplayer-first game. The publisher’s store page says purchases include a key to activate on Steam. A page view checked for this article showed US$29.99, but price, currency and regional availability can change.
What changed before launch?
The July delay followed testing intended to improve the accuracy of drawing plans, army-management usability, stability, localization, icons and presentation. The September date announcement replaced the postponed third-quarter window with October 12. The October 12 community post then confirmed that the game had shipped.
Are more theatres planned?
The October 2 overview mentions additional theatres of war, system updates and gameplay improvements as post-launch plans. It provides no dated roadmap or delivery commitment, so those items should be treated as announced intentions rather than content confirmed to be available at launch.
Quick Recap
Who is Battleplan for?
- Operational-strategy players: The game emphasizes formations, headquarters, supply and multi-stage planning rather than nation-building.
- Players who like deliberate control: Pause, planning lines and speed controls let you think through major moves without abandoning a real-time simulation.
- World War II history fans: The initial campaign follows Western European operations from D-Day to Operation Varsity and includes historical unit types and officers.
- Players seeking competitive multiplayer: The listed launch format is single-player, so multiplayer should not be assumed.
