Where to find Bayle the Dread
Bayle’s arena is at Jagged Peak Summit. From Gravesite Plain, the practical route is through Dragon’s Pit, which connects to Jagged Peak. Once you reach the summit and activate its Site of Grace, the arena is directly ahead.

Shadow of the Erdtree takes place in the Land of Shadow, and the expansion requires the Elden Ring base game to play, according to Bandai Namco Entertainment’s official expansion page.
How to reach Jagged Peak Summit
- Find Dragon’s Pit in Gravesite Plain. Head toward the cave from the area near Castle Ensis and Pillar Path Waypoint, following the path beyond the injured man. The Escapist’s Bayle location guide identifies Dragon’s Pit as the way into Jagged Peak.
- Cross Dragon’s Pit. Follow the cave route, including its drop into an abyss, and continue past the Ancient Dragon-Man encounter. The route exits into Jagged Peak, as detailed in PowerPyx’s Igon quest walkthrough.
- Decide whether to visit the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion. It lies south of the main ascent. The Dragon Communion Priestess can grant Ancient Dragon’s Blessing if you choose “Devour draconic essence”; PowerPyx recommends it as an aid for reducing damage in the Bayle fight. This is optional, not a requirement to reach or unlock Bayle.
- Climb Jagged Peak. Return to the ascent and follow the north-east route, continuing past the Jagged Peak Drake encounter. Use the mountain path and Spiritsprings as you proceed toward the summit.
- Reach the summit. Activate the Jagged Peak Summit Site of Grace. Bayle’s arena is directly ahead.
How to summon Igon for the Bayle fight
Igon’s help is optional. To make his summon sign available, speak with him after the drake encounter and obtain Igon’s Furled Finger. Once inside Bayle’s arena, interact with the gold sign just inside the boss gate. The Igon quest walkthrough covers the NPC steps; the summon sign is used from within the arena.

Should you fight Bayle now or return later?
Bayle is described by the cited guides as a difficult, high-damage boss with wide-area attacks. If the fight feels punishing, collecting more Scadutree Blessings before returning is a practical option. The Priestess’s Ancient Dragon’s Blessing and Igon’s summon are additional optional aids, not entry conditions.
PowerPyx’s 2024 guide estimates the fight at 8/10 difficulty at level 150, and 6.5/10 at level 190 or higher with 15 or more Scadutree Blessings. Those are that guide author’s ratings, not universal level requirements or objective measurements; balance may also differ across game updates. The available guides do not establish one best build or weapon for every player.
