“The program can’t start because bcgcbpro1800u100.dll is missing from your computer.” The bcgcbpro1800u100.dll error usually means the application that installed this file is incomplete, damaged, quarantined, or missing a required dependency.
Which fix applies to you
Use this list to choose the safest starting point:
- The error names a specific application: Repair or reinstall that application first.
- It appeared after an update, folder move, cleanup, or antivirus alert: Check the application folder and Windows Security Protection history.
- The DLL exists, but Windows says “specified module could not be found”: A dependency may be missing. Check the correct Visual C++ runtime.
- The application is older: It may require the 32-bit Visual C++ 2010 SP1 runtime.
- The error affects only one Windows account: Check profile permissions, per-user installation paths, and security software.
- The program works for a new Windows user but not the original account: Repair the user profile or reinstall the application for all users.
- The application cannot be identified: Inspect the shortcut, executable path, installed-app list, or Event Viewer before changing files.
- The problem started after a Windows or software change: Consider System Restore after the application repair steps.
- The application is a driver utility: Follow the vendor’s driver instructions and use Device Manager only when the vendor identifies a driver problem.
Do not start by downloading a replacement DLL from a random file repository.

These details identify the expected library, not the particular application that installed it. There is no verified evidence that one specific end-user program always ships this exact filename. The parent application owns the file and should provide its matching copy.
This is not a Windows system DLL. It normally belongs in the affected application’s installation directory or a vendor-managed BCGControlBar folder. Copying it into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64 is not a proper repair.
Fix 1: Identify and repair the parent application
The application name is the most important clue. A generic Windows DLL dialog does not tell you which program bundled BCGControlBar.
Find the application
- Read the complete error dialog and note any application name.
- Right-click the application shortcut and select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, check Target and Start in.
- Note the executable name and installation folder.
- If the error appears immediately after starting Windows, open Task Manager with
Ctrl+Shift+Esc. - Select Startup apps and look for the program that launches at sign-in.
- If necessary, open Settings and select Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for the application by name and check its publisher.
Do not assume the application is a game or a Microsoft program simply because Windows displays the error. BCGControlBar is a third-party framework that may be included with many unrelated desktop applications.
Use the application’s repair option
- Open Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the affected program.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options, if available.
- Select Repair.
- Start the application again.
Windows 10 may show the same options under Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
If the application has its own maintenance utility, open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, select the program, and look for Repair or Change.
A successful repair normally restores the application’s own files without changing your documents. If the error remains, use the vendor’s original installer or official updater and select a repair or reinstall option.
Reinstall from the original source
Before reinstalling:
- Back up the application’s settings, saved projects, profiles, or license information.
- Close the application and any related background process.
- Uninstall it from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Download or launch the installer supplied by the application’s publisher.
- Install it to the normal application folder.
- Start the program and test the same operation that previously failed.
For games, use the launcher’s Verify files, Repair, or Scan and repair function instead of manually replacing the DLL. For business software, use the vendor’s deployment package or approved software portal.
This is the most likely fix because the application installer can restore the correct DLL version, architecture, and related files together.
Fix 2: Check whether antivirus removed the file
Security software may quarantine a legitimate application file, particularly after an application update or a change in detection rules.
Check Windows Security
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections for the affected application folder or
bcgcbpro1800u100.dll. - Expand a detection to view its path and action.
- Do not restore the file unless you have confirmed that it came from the legitimate application installer.
- Scan the application folder and the computer before allowing anything back.
If the file was quarantined after an official application update, reinstall the application first. A clean reinstall is safer than restoring an isolated file manually.
Protection History does not retain every event indefinitely. If the suspected removal happened some time ago, the entry may no longer be visible.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf you restore a file, test the application immediately. If Windows Security detects it again, stop and contact the application publisher rather than repeatedly creating exclusions.
Fix 3: Check the application folder
After identifying the installation path:
- Close the application.
- Open File Explorer.
- Browse to the folder containing the application’s executable.
- Search that folder for
bcgcbpro1800u100.dll. - If it is present, right-click it and select Properties.
- Check the Details tab for the description, version, and publisher information.
- On the Digital Signatures tab, check whether a signature is present and valid, if provided.
- Do not replace the file merely because its size differs from an online listing.
Third-party metadata can help identify a file, but a filename, reported size, or hash does not prove that every copy with that name is authentic. The application’s official installer is the reliable source.
If the DLL is present but the error says “The specified module could not be found,” the named file may be loading correctly while one of its dependencies is absent or damaged.
Fix 4: Install the correct Visual C++ runtime
Older applications using BCGControlBar may depend on the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 runtime. The exact dependency must be confirmed from the application’s documentation, installer, or vendor support information.

Repair or install Visual C++ 2010 SP1 x86
- Open Microsoft’s supported Visual C++ Redistributables page.
- Locate the legacy Visual C++ 2010 SP1 package.
- Download the official x86 installer.
- Run the installer as an administrator.
- Choose Repair if the runtime is already installed, or complete the installation if it is absent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected application.
Microsoft identifies the Visual C++ 2010 SP1 runtime with version 10.0.40219.325. Older redistributables can remain installed side by side, so installing a newer Visual C++ package does not automatically replace every older runtime.
If the application documentation names Visual C++ 2012 or another release, install that exact architecture and release as well. Do not install every runtime package at random.
Fix 5: Verify application files and permissions
A file can be present but inaccessible because the application folder permissions changed or security software blocked it.

- Select Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Select Run this program as an administrator temporarily.
- Select Apply, then OK.
- Start the application.
If this works, the problem may involve permissions rather than the DLL itself. Do not leave administrator mode enabled permanently without confirming that the application requires it.
Also check the application folder:
- Right-click the folder and select Properties.
- Open the Security tab.
- Confirm that the current user has read and execute permission.
- If the folder is on a network drive, removable disk, or synchronized cloud location, move or reinstall the application to a local folder approved by your organization.
- Test the program again.
If the application was moved manually, reinstall it. Moving only the executable or selected DLLs can break relative paths, registry entries, permissions, and dependent components.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components only after repairing the app
System File Checker and DISM repair protected Windows components. They do not recreate a missing third-party BCGSoft DLL, but they can help when Windows component corruption is causing broader application failures.
First install pending Windows updates:
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart Windows.
Then open an elevated Command Prompt:
- Open the Start menu.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for DISM to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannow
Restart Windows after both commands complete and test the application.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and test again. If it reports that it could not repair some files, repeat the process only as directed by Microsoft support guidance. Do not expect these commands to restore bcgcbpro1800u100.dll.
When repeated manual DISM and SFC runs make it difficult to see what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can provide a free scan showing detected issues; repair is performed by the full version, and reinstalling the application remains the definitive fix for this app-specific DLL.
Fix 7: Use System Restore for a recent system change
If the problem began immediately after a Windows update, software installation, or configuration change, System Restore may return system settings and applications to an earlier state.
- Press
Windows+R. - Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point from before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Review the changes.
- Select Next > Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
System Restore can remove applications, updates, and settings installed after the selected restore point. It does not replace the parent application’s need for a correct installation, so reinstall or repair the application afterward if the DLL error remains.
Fix 8: Check optional Windows features only when the vendor requires them
Do not enable random Windows features to fix this filename. BCGControlBar is not itself a Windows feature.
If the application’s documentation specifically requires .NET Framework or another Windows component:
- Open the Start menu.
- Type Windows Features.
- Select Turn Windows features on or off.
- Enable only the feature named by the application vendor.
- Select OK.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
- Test the application.
If no vendor documentation identifies a missing Windows feature, return to the application installer and its runtime requirements instead.
Fix 9: Handle driver-related software carefully
Driver reinstall is not justified merely because bcgcbpro1800u100.dll appears in an error. Use Device Manager only when the affected program is explicitly a driver utility or the hardware vendor identifies a driver dependency.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

- Right-click the Start button.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the device category named by the vendor.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers, or use the hardware vendor’s official driver package.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the application.
Do not remove unrelated devices or install a generic driver to solve an application DLL error.
When manually checking many hardware versions becomes impractical, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver issues at no cost; driver installation is handled by the full version, and the application publisher’s repair or reinstall remains the definitive fix when this DLL belongs to a specific program.

Do not copy the DLL into system folders
Windows searches the application directory before system locations. Copying a third-party DLL into System32, SysWOW64, or multiple application folders can create version conflicts and increase DLL-preloading risk.
A 32-bit DLL does not belong in a folder simply because the folder name appears related to 32-bit compatibility. The application installer determines the correct location.

Do not use regsvr32 for this file
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly COM or ActiveX components. A normal application runtime library is not made usable by registering it.
Running commands such as these is not a general repair:
regsvr32 bcgcbpro1800u100.dll
If the command reports that the entry point is missing, that is expected for many ordinary DLLs. Use the parent application’s installer instead.
Do not use registry cleaners
A registry cleaner cannot recreate a missing application file, repair its architecture, or restore a missing runtime dependency. Registry changes can make an older application harder to repair.

Do not substitute a similarly named DLL
BCGControlBar releases may contain differently named files and incompatible versions. Renaming another DLL or using a copy from another application can cause crashes, loader errors, or corrupted application behavior.
If the error continues
Collect these details before contacting the application vendor:
- The full error message.
- The application name and executable path.
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 version.
- Whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- Whether the application is 32-bit.
- The application’s installed version.
- Whether repair or reinstall completed successfully.
- Whether antivirus quarantined the file.
- Whether the DLL exists beside the executable.
- Any subsequent error naming another missing dependency.
For deeper diagnosis, use Microsoft Process Monitor or a dependency-analysis tool to identify which executable requests the DLL and whether another module fails immediately afterward. Do not download replacements based only on the first filename shown.
If the application cannot be identified, inspect the shortcut target, installed applications, startup entries, and Event Viewer under Windows Logs > Application. If the program is obsolete and no compatible installer or vendor support remains, replacing the application may be safer than assembling old DLLs manually.

Prevention
- Keep the application installed in its original folder.
- Use the application’s built-in updater or the publisher’s installer.
- Verify files after interrupted updates.
- Review antivirus quarantine before restoring files.
- Keep the required x86 runtime installed for older 32-bit applications.
- Maintain backups of application installers and settings.
- Avoid DLL replacement sites and system-folder copying.
- Test legacy software after major Windows changes.
- Record the application name and installation path when an error first appears.
FAQ
Is bcgcbpro1800u100.dll a Windows system file?
No. It is a BCGSoft application library used by third-party software. Repair the program that installed it rather than repairing Windows first.
Which application uses this DLL?
No verified public evidence ties this exact filename to one specific end-user application. Identify the executable in the error, shortcut, installation folder, or Event Viewer.
Can I download the DLL separately?
That is unsafe and often ineffective. A downloaded copy may contain malware, have the wrong version or architecture, or leave the actual missing dependency and damaged installation unresolved. Use the application’s official installer or repair function.
Does a 64-bit version of Windows need the x64 DLL?
No. This file is identified as 32-bit. A 32-bit application needs its matching 32-bit library and, where required, the x86 Visual C++ runtime.
The file is present. Why does Windows still say it is missing?
“Specified module could not be found” can mean that a dependency of the DLL is missing. Repair the parent application and check the runtime named by its documentation.
Should I put the file in System32 or SysWOW64?
No. Put it where the application installer places it. Manual system-folder copying can create conflicts and security risks.
Will SFC restore this DLL?
No. SFC and DISM repair protected Windows components. They do not normally restore third-party BCGSoft application files.
Why does regsvr32 fail?
This DLL is an application library, not necessarily a self-registering COM component. Registration is generally inappropriate; reinstall the parent application.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhat if the error affects only one user?
Test the program from another Windows account. If it works there, investigate the original profile’s permissions, per-user installation path, and security software rather than replacing the DLL globally.
What if every repair fails?
Contact the application publisher with the executable path, error text, runtime information, and repair results. If the software is unsupported and no trusted installer exists, replace it rather than using an unverified DLL.
