If bcgcbpro730.dll is missing, Windows usually cannot start the older program that installed it.
The safest fix is to identify that parent application and repair or reinstall it. Do not begin by downloading a loose DLL and copying it into System32.
What bcgcbpro730.dll does
BCGControlBar Professional is an MFC user-interface library used by Windows applications that provide controls such as toolbars, ribbons, grids, editors, and similar interfaces. bcgcbpro730.dll is the application-facing runtime library that an older program expects to load.
The filename alone does not prove which application installed it. Documented examples include older Nero 7 installations and some legacy tablet or device utility packages. Other applications may also use the same library.

The error may appear as:
- “The program can’t start because bcgcbpro730.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “This application failed to start because bcgcbpro730.dll was not found.”
- “Error loading bcgcbpro730.dll. The specified module could not be found.”
- “A required component is missing: bcgcbpro730.dll.”
- “Failed to load bcgcbpro730.dll.”
- A crash report naming

The last case is different from a simple missing-file error. It means the file may be present but the application, a dependency, or the DLL installation may be damaged or incompatible.
Before changing anything, identify the parent application
Check the error window
Read the title bar and the executable name in the message. The program may identify itself as Nero, a tablet utility, a scanner tool, an installer, or another older application.
If the message appears immediately after clicking a shortcut, right-click that shortcut and select Properties. On the Shortcut tab, inspect Target. The executable named there is the program that needs repair.
Check Event Viewer
- Press Windows key + X.
- Select Event Viewer.
- Expand Windows Logs.
- Select Application.
- In the right pane, choose Find.
- Search for
bcgcbpro730.dll. - Open the matching error and note:
- Faulting application name
- Faulting module name
- The application path
- The time the failure occurred
If Event Viewer names an executable other than the program you expected, repair the executable named in the event.
Check the installation folder
A missing DLL often belongs beside the application executable. Look in the program’s installation folder, commonly under:
C:Program FilesC:Program Files (x86)- A hardware manufacturer’s folder
- A folder selected during installation
Do not assume that every copy of the file on the computer belongs to the same program. Older applications may each require a particular build.
Fix 1: Repair the application in Windows
Time needed: About 5 to 15 minutes.
Use this first when the affected program still appears in the installed-app list.
Windows 11 repair steps
- Open Start.
- Select Settings.
- Choose Apps.
- Select Installed apps.
- Find the application that produces the error.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options, if available.
- Select Repair.
- Restart the application.
Some traditional desktop programs do not show an Advanced options page. Use the Control Panel method instead.
Control Panel repair steps
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpl. - Press Enter.
- Select the affected application.
- Choose Repair, Change, or Modify.
- Follow the installer’s instructions.
- Restart Windows if requested.
- Launch the application from its current shortcut.
A successful repair restores the missing file to the application’s own folder and allows the program to start without the DLL message.
If Repair is unavailable or the repair reports that source files are missing, continue with a complete reinstall.
Fix 2: Reinstall the original application
Time needed: About 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the installer.
Reinstalling the parent application is the definitive fix when the DLL was deleted, damaged, or never copied correctly.

- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Select the affected program.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Complete the uninstall wizard.
- Restart Windows.
- Obtain the installer from the original application publisher, the hardware manufacturer, or your original installation media.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Install the complete application, including its runtime files and prerequisites.
- Start the program from the newly installed shortcut.
For an older device utility, use the support package made for the exact device model. For old Nero software, use the original Nero installation media or an official replacement supported by the publisher. Do not substitute a standalone copy of bcgcbpro730.dll.
If the reinstall completes but the error remains, check the shortcut target again. It may still point to an old installation directory that was not removed.
Check whether antivirus removed the file
Security software can quarantine an old DLL, especially when the application came from an untrusted archive or a modified installer.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review entries from the time the application stopped working.
- Expand any entry referring to the application or
bcgcbpro730.dll. - Do not restore the file unless you can verify that it came from the genuine application installer or a known-good backup.
- If the file is legitimate, follow your organization’s security policy before allowing it.
- Otherwise, remove the quarantined copy and reinstall the application from a trusted source.
If Windows Security quarantines the file again immediately after reinstalling, stop restoring it blindly. Scan the complete installer and determine whether the installer itself is modified, incomplete, or unsafe.

Time needed: About 2 minutes.
Some very old applications fail during startup because they cannot write to their installation directory or required configuration location.
- Open Start and search for the application.
- Right-click its result.
- Select Open file location.
- Right-click the application shortcut and choose Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Select Run this program as an administrator.
- Select Apply, then OK.
- Start the application.
If this works, the installation may need writable configuration storage or a compatibility adjustment. Administrator mode is not a replacement for reinstalling a missing DLL, but it can expose a permissions problem.

You can also test compatibility settings:
- Right-click the application executable.
- Select Properties > Compatibility.
- Choose Run compatibility troubleshooter.
- Apply the recommended setting only if it allows the application to start correctly.
If the program is obsolete and still crashes after this test, replacing it is safer than repeatedly changing system settings.
Fix 4: Check architecture and dependent runtimes
Time needed: About 10 to 30 minutes.
Many older applications are 32-bit, even when Windows is 64-bit. A 32-bit program normally needs the x86 version of a Microsoft runtime, not only the x64 version.
Look for a second error mentioning:
- Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
MSVCP...dllVCRUNTIME...dll- “The code execution cannot proceed”
- “The application was unable to start correctly”
- “The specified module could not be found”
If those messages appear:
- Identify whether the affected application is 32-bit or 64-bit from its installation folder and vendor documentation.
- For a 32-bit application, install the x86 Visual C++ Redistributable package required by that application.
- For a 64-bit application, install the x64 package required by it.
- Restart Windows.
- Start the application again.
The Visual C++ Redistributable can repair a dependency of bcgcbpro730.dll; it does not replace bcgcbpro730.dll itself.
If the file exists but Windows says “The specified module could not be found,” the missing item may be a dependency imported by the BCGControlBar library. Reinstalling the complete application is safer than guessing at individual runtime files. A dependency analysis tool can identify the missing imported module when ordinary repair does not explain the error.
Do not copy a similarly named file into the folder. A Unicode variant, a later BCGControlBar build, or a DLL from another application may have different exports and dependencies.
Fix 5: Update or reinstall a related device driver package

If the error appears when connecting or configuring a tablet, scanner, input device, or other older peripheral, the DLL may be part of the device utility rather than the current device driver.

- Disconnect the device.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Uninstall the related utility or control-panel software.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Device Manager by right-clicking Start and selecting it.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Human Interface Devices, Imaging devices, Keyboards, or Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Uninstall device only if you are reinstalling the manufacturer package and understand the effect.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the correct package from the device manufacturer.
- Reconnect the device and test the utility.
Windows Update may provide a basic driver, but it may not include the old control-panel application that supplied bcgcbpro730.dll.
When several device packages are installed, manually matching model numbers and driver revisions can take time. Fix 6: Check Windows system health, but do not expect SFC to restore this DLL

bcgcbpro730.dll is not a protected Windows system file. Therefore, System File Checker normally will not recreate it. DISM and SFC are useful when several Windows features are failing or the problem began after broader system corruption.
- Open Start.
- Type
cmd. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the command to complete.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected application.
DISM repairs the Windows component store. SFC checks protected Windows files. Neither command normally supplies an application-private BCGSoft DLL.
Repeating these commands without knowing what changed rarely helps. If DISM or SFC reports errors, restart and run the affected command again once. Also install pending Windows updates through Settings > Windows Update. If Windows itself remains unstable, address that separately from the application repair.
Do not copy this DLL into System32 or SysWOW64
Time needed: No installation time; this prevents a common wrong fix.
Do not place bcgcbpro730.dll in either of these folders:
C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64
Those folders are for Windows components and architecture-specific system libraries. An application DLL normally belongs beside the executable that loads it. Windows generally checks the application directory as part of its DLL search process.
Do not copy the file into both folders. This can create version conflicts and make troubleshooting harder.
Manual copying is reasonable only when all of the following are true:
- The file came from the original installer or a verified backup.
- You know which application requires it.
- You copy it into that application’s exact installation directory.
- The file matches the application’s build and architecture.
A loose file from a random DLL download site may contain malware, the wrong version, the wrong architecture, or an incomplete set of dependencies. It may also conceal the real problem, such as a damaged application installation or an antivirus quarantine event.

Time needed: No command should be run.
The .dll extension does not mean that a file should be registered. regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration exports such as DllRegisterServer, commonly used by certain COM components.
There is no established indication that this ordinary BCGControlBar runtime DLL is a self-registering COM component. Running:

regsvr32 bcgcbpro730.dll
is therefore not a valid general repair step. It may produce an error such as “The module was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.”
Repair the parent application instead.

- Uninstall the affected application.

If the same error appears immediately after a clean reinstall, the application may simply be too old for the current Windows environment.
Use System Restore after a recent change
Time needed: About 20 to 45 minutes.
System Restore can help when the DLL disappeared after a driver installation, application update, cleanup utility, or other system change.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point created before the problem began.
- Select Scan for affected programs if available.
- Review the changes.
- Select Next, then Finish.
- Allow Windows to restart.
- Test the application.
System Restore may remove a recent application or driver change, but it is not a substitute for reinstalling the program if its files are genuinely missing.
When to replace the application
If repair, reinstall, dependency checks, and compatibility testing all fail, the application may be obsolete or unsupported on current Windows.
This is especially likely when:
- The program is from the Nero 7 era or earlier.
- It depends on discontinued hardware software.
- It crashes even though the DLL is present.
- The installer cannot run on the current Windows version.
- Antivirus repeatedly flags the installer or restored file.
- The vendor no longer supplies a compatible release.
Use a current supported application or a replacement utility where possible. Do not keep adding unrelated DLL files to force an unsupported program to start.
