When did Beast of Reincarnation come out?
Beast of Reincarnation launched August 4, 2026. Game Freak director Kota Furushima announced the date for PS5, and the publisher and Japanese distributor list the same date. The original “due out in 2026” wording is now outdated. PlayStation Blog’s release-date announcement and the Fictions official game page provide the date.
What kind of game is Beast of Reincarnation?
It is a single-player action RPG set in Japan in 4026, after a world-ending calamity. A blight transforms living things, and Emma—a young woman afflicted by blight who can manipulate plants—travels west with Koo to confront the Beast of Reincarnation, the source of the blight. Emma is a sealer tasked with hunting malefacts and absorbing their blight; Koo is a malefact, a creature that would ordinarily be a threat.
Furushima describes it as a “one-person, one-dog action RPG.” The official overview on Xbox Wire introduces the setting, characters, and combat.

How does combat work?
Emma handles fast, real-time katana attacks, while Koo’s abilities are activated through a command system with a turn-based RPG feel. Parrying with Emma earns points that can be spent on Koo’s abilities, linking defense and timing to the companion’s attacks. The pair also face powerful malefacts, including giant Nushi; defeating major enemies lets them acquire skills. These mechanics are described in the director-authored Xbox Wire overview.

Is there a physical PS5 edition?
Yes. Happinet’s Japanese product listing identifies a PS5 packaged edition with an August 4, 2026 release date. The Japanese listing gives an MSRP of ¥8,980 including tax and names Amazon.co.jp among its retailers; those details do not establish price, stock, or a physical edition in other regions.
Happinet’s April 20, 2026 announcement says the package includes downloadable content matching the Digital Deluxe Edition, obtainable with a PlayStation Store product code.
