For most Witch players who want a straightforward defensive setup, a damage-reduction (DR) armor path is the general recommendation in the cited Witch class guide. Start with Tuvala on a season character, move into DR-focused boss armor after the season, and treat Slumbering Origin and Edana armor as long-term goals—not starter gear. The best choice still depends on your progression stage, intended content, platform, and region.
Why Witch players are commonly directed toward damage reduction
Black Desert Foundry’s Witch guide recommends DR as the general armor direction for Witch. It is specialist guidance, not a universal rule: your gear choice should reflect your build and the content you play. Season character: Tuvala
Use the current season progression and Tuvala armor as your accessible starting point. Pearl Abyss’s gear guide describes Naru as early quest gear and recommends exchanging PEN Naru for Tuvala for a season character. For the armor slot, the guide favors Red Nose over Dim Tree on the route toward Fallen God Armor because it can require less Caphras to reach level 10. Fallen God Armor and Labreska Helmet are later upgrades identified by the Witch guide. Pearl Abyss describes Slumbering Origin pieces among the strongest equipment, and its 2025 update introduced Edana armor, obtained from sufficiently enhanced Slumbering Origin armor. Pearl Abyss’s 2026 progression guidance places Edana on a late-game route. These are endgame progression goals, not the practical answer for a new or returning season character. Edana armor stats: an endgame reference, not a Witch build
Pearl Abyss’s Japanese August 2025 table lists these values for Edana – Judgment of the Sky. They are armor enhancement stats, not Witch-specific results or a comparison showing how the piece performs in a particular activity. Pearl Abyss Edana armor update.

- Compare the full upgrade path: Red Nose’s stated advantage is lower Caphras investment on the path to Fallen God Armor. Current costs and mechanics can vary, so verify them in-game.
- Match gear to your goal: Pearl Abyss’s progression guidance emphasizes gearing for the content you plan to play; no single armor choice is established here as best for every Witch.
