Yes—Beedle can restock arrows. The rule most often reported for both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is that a shop will not replenish a particular arrow type while Link has more than 50 of that type. In Breath of the Wild, reports also place the shop refresh at the in-game midnight cycle, provided Link is away from the relevant shop area. These are documented by secondary references and player testing rather than an explicit Nintendo explanation, so treat them as reported mechanics rather than an officially quoted rule.
If Beedle appears sold out, check the count for the exact arrow type, leave the stable area, allow a restock cycle to pass, and check another stable. Beedle’s stable inventories are reported to be tracked separately, so one location can have arrows when another does not.

First, identify which Zelda game you mean
Beedle appears in both games, but the clearest explanations of the timing and location behavior concern Breath of the Wild. A secondary arrow reference reports the more-than-50 limit in both games, while Nintendo’s official Tears of the Kingdom Explorer’s Guide explains an alternative way to obtain arrows without buying them. It does not publish Beedle’s exact restock conditions.
| Game | What is established | What remains qualified |
|---|---|---|
| Breath of the Wild | Community reports describe a per-arrow-type limit of more than 50, an in-game midnight refresh, and the need to be away from the shop area. Stable locations are reported to have separate inventories. | These timing and location details come from secondary references and player reports, not a Nintendo mechanics page. |
| Tears of the Kingdom | A secondary arrow reference reports the same more-than-50 threshold. Beedle remains a source of purchased arrows. | Nintendo’s guide does not specify Beedle’s timer or confirm every location rule; use the threshold as a reported mechanic. |
When a guide or forum says “Beedle does not restock,” it may be describing a temporary condition in one game, one stable, or one arrow category—not a permanent inability to replenish stock.

How the reported restock rule works
The check is per arrow type
The relevant number is the quantity of the specific type that appears sold out. Normal arrows, fire arrows, ice arrows, bomb arrows, shock arrows, and ancient arrows are separate categories. Having a low number of one type does not override the limit for another. The reported trigger is more than 50 of that same type in Link’s inventory; reducing the count to 50 or fewer is the practical condition players use before waiting for a later shop refresh. The threshold is summarized by Zelda Dungeon’s Arrow reference and by player-focused explanations such as Games Learning Society’s Beedle restock guide.
The wording matters: “more than 50” means 51 or above. If you are carrying exactly 50, you are not above the reported cap. Because the references describe a gameplay rule rather than a published Nintendo statistic, allow for differences caused by game version, location, or an incorrectly counted arrow category.
A restock is not an instant refresh
In Breath of the Wild, players report that shops refresh at in-game midnight when Link is away from the relevant shop area. Standing beside Beedle and repeatedly opening the shop menu is therefore not a reliable way to make a newly eligible stack appear. The midnight condition is described in the community discussion “How do shops restock their items after you buy them?” and in the secondary guide linked above.
“Away” is significant because the game can treat a shop as active while Link is in its vicinity. Move far enough from the stable for the area to unload, travel elsewhere, or spend the intervening time exploring, then return after the next eligible cycle. The reports do not establish a single universal distance in meters, so do not rely on a precise radius.

Each stable can have its own stock
Beedle’s stable locations are reported to maintain separately tracked inventories. A purchase or sell-out state at one stable does not necessarily mean every Beedle in Hyrule is empty. Checking another stable is a useful diagnostic, especially when you need arrows immediately and do not want to wait through another cycle.
How to give Beedle the best chance to restock
Use this sequence when a particular arrow type is missing:
- Open the inventory and count that exact arrow type. Do not add together normal and elemental arrows. If the count is above 50, spend, sell, or otherwise reduce that category to 50 or fewer before expecting a later replenishment.
- Leave the stable area. Fast-travel to another region, continue an exploration route, or otherwise put enough distance between Link and the Beedle whose shop you checked. Simply walking around the stable may leave the shop area active.
- Let the in-game cycle advance. For Breath of the Wild, player reports identify in-game midnight as the relevant refresh point. Waiting beside the shop is not the recommended test; be away when the cycle passes.
- Return and inspect the same category. Reopen Beedle’s inventory after the cycle and compare the arrow type you counted. A different category can remain unavailable even if another has returned.
- Try a second stable. Because locations are reported to track stock separately, another Beedle may offer the arrows while the first location is still empty.
This process distinguishes an eligibility problem (too many arrows carried) from a timing problem (the refresh has not occurred) and a location problem (you are checking a separate inventory).

Why Beedle may still look sold out
| What you see | Likely explanation | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Only one arrow category is missing | That category may be above the reported 50-arrow threshold, even if your total arrow count looks reasonable. | Count and reduce that category specifically, then test after a later restock cycle. |
| The stock is unchanged after waiting nearby | The shop may not have refreshed while Link remained in its active area. | Leave the stable, allow the next reported cycle to pass, and return. |
| One stable is empty but another has arrows | Stable inventories are reported separately. | Buy from the stocked location instead of waiting for the empty one. |
| Nothing changes after several tests | The threshold, timing, or game assumption may be wrong; the exact rule is not documented by Nintendo. | Recheck the game, arrow category, inventory count, and location. Treat the community rule as a practical report, not a guaranteed universal formula. |
Getting arrows without waiting for a shop
Tears of the Kingdom provides a direct alternative for replenishing arrows in the field. Nintendo’s Tears of the Kingdom Explorer’s Guide advises evading shots from bow-bearing enemies and collecting the arrows that miss Link. This method costs no rupees and does not depend on Beedle’s inventory. It is advice about recovering enemy-fired arrows, not confirmation of the shop restock timer.

Use the enemy-arrow method when you need a small number quickly, are far from a stable, or are saving currency. For a large planned supply, Beedle remains convenient when a location has stock, but the reported 50-arrow condition still explains why buying down a category may be necessary before a later replenishment.
What the evidence does—and does not—prove
The strongest practical claims available to players come from secondary game references and community reports. Games Learning Society’s April 6, 2025 explanation describes the more-than-50 condition and the idea that restocking follows a cycle while Link is away. The Reddit discussion cited above records player observations about midnight and shop-area proximity. Zelda Dungeon’s Arrow page summarizes the threshold for both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
None of those sources is a Nintendo statement specifying Beedle’s algorithm. Nintendo’s official guide, linked in the previous section, documents collecting missed enemy shots but does not define shop timers, inventory independence, or a precise distance requirement. Consequently, an occasional result that does not match the reported pattern is not proof that your save is broken. Verify the basic conditions first, then try another stable or use field collection.

- Is the question about Breath of the Wild? Apply the reported midnight-and-away test most directly to that game.
- Is the exact arrow category above 50? Reduce it to 50 or fewer before judging the shop’s next refresh.
- Have you left the shop area during the cycle? If not, travel away and test again after the next reported midnight.
- Have you checked another stable? Separate location inventories can make a second Beedle the fastest solution.
- Are you playing Tears of the Kingdom and need arrows now? Collect arrows that miss from bow-using enemies, following Nintendo’s Explorer’s Guide advice.
The short answer remains yes: Beedle does restock arrows, but the stock is conditional rather than an always-available infinite supply. The exact threshold is reported as more than 50 of the specific type, and the detailed timer behavior is best documented for Breath of the Wild by secondary sources and players.
