What Behaviour Interactive announced
In its June 4, 2024 announcement, Behaviour Interactive said it would make structural changes and reduce its workforce by up to 95 employees. Of that maximum, 70 employees were based in Montreal. Behaviour did not confirm how many people were ultimately laid off, so the announcement does not establish that all 95 positions were eliminated.
Why the company said it was restructuring
Behaviour said the changes would clarify the division of resources across product, production, business development and marketing. It described the games industry as going through a “challenging period” and said growth in the industry had increased competition. Those were the company’s explanation for the restructuring, rather than independently verified causes.
The company said its ambitions were to lead in horror, lead in service and explore location-based entertainment. These were stated priorities, not reported outcomes of the reorganization.

What Behaviour said would not change
Behaviour said the restructuring would not affect its service business or development of Dead by Daylight. It also said it would support affected employees as they pursued their next career step. The announcement does not establish how delivery was affected afterward or what support individual employees received.
How the announcement fits the company’s growth
Behaviour said it had grown from 575 to 1,300 employees over the five years preceding the June 2024 announcement. It also cited more than 60 million Dead by Daylight players since the game’s 2016 release. These are figures the company used to describe its scale and growth at the time, not independent measures of the restructuring’s results.
CEO and co-founder Rémi Racine said, “I would like to express my deep personal appreciation for any employee affected by today’s changes.” The statement expressed appreciation but did not specify individual assistance.

A separate workforce reduction was reported in 2026
In April 2026, Behaviour confirmed another workforce reduction, according to a report on the later cuts. That report said the company attributed the reduction to declining demand for external mobile and casual development partnerships; it did not disclose a headcount. This was a separate event, not a later accounting of the June 2024 changes.

Behaviour’s official newsroom also lists later corporate activity, including its March 2026 acquisition of The Fun Pimps. That establishes continued corporate announcements, but does not show whether the 2024 restructuring achieved its stated aims.
