Yes, artifacts matter on Bennett—but not for the part many players assume. Artifact ATK% and flat ATK do not increase the ATK bonus from his Elemental Burst. That bonus uses Bennett’s Base ATK, which is his innate character ATK plus the weapon’s Base ATK. Artifacts still determine his Energy Recharge, healing strength, personal damage, and the team-wide effect supplied by his artifact set.
The distinction that decides Bennett’s build
Bennett has two separate build questions: how large his Burst buff is, and how reliably and usefully he performs the rest of his job. Only the first question is locked to Base ATK. His Burst buff scales from the sum of his innate ATK and his weapon’s Base ATK. An artifact’s ATK% main stat, ATK% substat, or flat ATK substat is not added to that calculation.

That means replacing a low-ATK weapon with one that has higher Base ATK can change the Burst buff, while stacking ATK% on a flower, feather, sands, or substat cannot. A weapon’s secondary ATK% effect is also different from its Base ATK and does not increase the Burst buff. This mechanical distinction is stated in the KeqingMains Bennett Quick Guide and is the most important correction to the common “build ATK for his buff” advice.

Artifacts can still have a major team impact. Energy Recharge lets Bennett cast his Burst on the rotation the team actually uses. HP% can make his healing more generous. Pyro DMG, CRIT, and Elemental Mastery can turn him into a stronger damage contributor when the team and rotation call for it. A four-piece set can buff the entire party even when none of its individual ATK rolls affect Bennett’s Burst scaling.

What artifact stats do for Bennett
| Artifact stat | What it changes | When it matters most |
|---|---|---|
| Energy Recharge | Helps Bennett regain enough energy to use his Burst when the team’s rotation requires it. | Every support build, especially teams with low Pyro particle generation or long rotations. |
| HP% | Improves the amount of healing Bennett provides. | Support or healer builds when the team needs more recovery. |
| Healing Bonus | Further emphasizes Bennett’s healing role through the circlet slot. | Teams that value maximum healing; it is not always necessary. |
| Pyro DMG Bonus | Raises Bennett’s Pyro damage. | Invested support and on-field damage builds. |
| CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG | Improve the consistency and size of Bennett’s damaging hits. | Damage-oriented builds after Burst uptime is secured. |
| Elemental Mastery | Strengthens reactions Bennett triggers. | Reaction-focused teams, including some Burgeon or Overloaded setups. |
| ATK% and flat ATK | Can increase Bennett’s personal attack damage, but do not increase his Elemental Burst ATK buff. | Only as ordinary damage stats; never as a way to enlarge the team buff. |
The practical order is therefore functional rather than cosmetic: meet the team’s Energy Recharge requirement first, then spend remaining budget on healing or damage according to Bennett’s role. There is no universal Energy Recharge number that works for every Bennett team. Required ER changes with teammates, particle generation, funneling, enemy count, and the length of the rotation.
Support and healer Bennett
1. Solve Burst uptime before chasing other stats
For a conventional support Bennett, the most valuable artifact result is a Burst that is ready when the team’s rotation reaches its buff window. Check the actual rotation rather than copying a target from another team. If Bennett finishes a cycle without enough energy, more ER is worth more than a damage substat or an extra healing stat. If he consistently has energy left over, you can redirect future upgrades toward HP%, CRIT, or another team benefit.
Energy Recharge sands are a natural choice when substats and weapons do not cover the requirement. HP% sands can work once the rotation is comfortable, particularly for a team that treats Bennett primarily as a healer. The correct choice is the one that preserves reliable Burst use in the team you play.

2. Add HP% when healing is the bottleneck
HP% is the straightforward way to make Bennett’s healing more valuable after ER is sufficient. The quick guide lists an HP% goblet for this role and allows either a Healing Bonus or HP% circlet. A Healing Bonus circlet is not mandatory: the longer “Trial by Fire” guide notes that Bennett’s healing is often adequate without one. Use it when incoming damage regularly exceeds the healing you already have; otherwise, HP% or an offensive circlet can provide more useful overall value.
3. Choose a team set, not a personal ATK set
Four-piece Noblesse Oblige is a strong default for many support teams because its set effect supplies a team ATK increase. Its value comes from the set bonus, not from farming ATK% rolls for Bennett. Before equipping it, check whether another teammate already supplies the same effect; duplicating a team buff can waste the opportunity to provide a different bonus.
Four-piece Instructor can be preferable when the team’s damage is reaction-driven and benefits substantially from Elemental Mastery, especially if another character is already carrying Noblesse Oblige. The set choice should follow the damage dealers’ scaling rather than a universal Bennett rule.

Invested support and on-field damage Bennett
An invested Bennett still needs enough ER to cast his Burst on schedule, but the rest of the build can shift toward personal damage. The quick guide lists Pyro DMG and CRIT for this purpose. In practice, that means a Pyro DMG goblet and a CRIT-focused circlet become attractive once the team’s healing and Burst uptime are already comfortable. ATK% can help Bennett’s own hits, but it remains irrelevant to the size of the Burst’s team ATK buff.
Reaction-trigger builds
Elemental Mastery is useful when Bennett triggers a meaningful share of the team’s reactions. This is a role-specific choice: EM is not automatically better than CRIT for every Bennett. If another character consistently owns the reactions, Bennett gains less from stacking EM and should keep the stats that support his actual damage or support job.
For Burgeon or Overloaded trigger setups, the quick guide describes full EM as an option when Bennett owns a high share of those reactions. Even in that build, Burst uptime remains important. A Bennett who has more EM but cannot cast on the rotation can contribute less than one with a lower reaction stat and reliable Burst access.

Main-stat templates by role
| Bennett role | Sands | Goblet | Circlet | Secondary focus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Support or healer | ER% or HP% | HP% | Healing Bonus or HP% | Enough ER for the rotation, then HP% and useful survivability or damage stats. |
| Invested support or on-field damage | Enough ER for the rotation, then an offensive option as appropriate | Pyro DMG | CRIT | CRIT and offensive substats while preserving Burst uptime. |
| Burgeon or Overloaded trigger | Enough ER for the rotation, with EM considered when Bennett owns the reactions | EM when the reaction role warrants it | EM when the reaction role warrants it | Full EM is an option when Bennett triggers a high share of reactions. |
These are templates, not mandatory sets of main stats. A support Bennett with unusually strong ER substats may use HP% sands; a damage Bennett in a demanding rotation may still need ER sands. Judge the finished build by whether it performs its job during a complete rotation.
Artifact sets: how to choose the team effect
| Set option | Why Bennett uses it | Best fit | Check before committing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Four-piece Noblesse Oblige | Provides a team ATK effect that supports many damage dealers. | General support teams whose damage benefits from ATK. | Make sure another teammate is not already providing the same set effect. |
| Four-piece Instructor | Can provide Elemental Mastery value for reaction-focused damage. | Teams where the main damage dealer gains more from EM than from another ATK buff. | Consider whether another character can carry Noblesse and whether Bennett can trigger the needed reactions. |
| Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City | Offers a team-dependent alternative when the party values its damage bonus rather than an ATK increase. | Teams whose damage dealers do not benefit much from ATK, subject to the set’s activation requirements. | Confirm that the team’s elements and rotation activate the effect consistently. |
No set is automatically correct because Bennett is present. Compare the damage dealers’ scaling, the bonuses already supplied by other characters, and whether the team needs ATK, EM, or a different damage increase. A set with weaker personal stats can still be the better team choice if its four-piece effect improves the party’s actual damage.

A step-by-step way to rebuild Bennett
- Identify his job in this team. Decide whether he is mainly a healer and buffer, an invested support, an on-field attacker, or a reaction trigger. The same character can need different artifacts in different teams.
- Test the real rotation. Start with the team’s normal sequence and observe whether Bennett can cast his Burst every cycle. Include the teammates, enemy groups, and particle generation you actually use.
- Set the ER floor. Keep adding ER through the sands, substats, weapon choices, or team funneling until Burst timing is reliable. Do not replace ER with HP or CRIT merely because a guide lists those stats first.
- Choose the healing level. If the party survives comfortably, stop investing in healing. If recovery is the limiting factor, use HP% and consider a Healing Bonus circlet.
- Select the team set. Start with Noblesse Oblige for a team that benefits from ATK, consider Instructor when reaction damage values EM and another character can carry Noblesse, and evaluate Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City when the team’s damage does not center on ATK.
- Spend remaining rolls on the role’s damage stats. Use Pyro DMG and CRIT for an offensive Bennett, or EM when he owns the reactions. ATK rolls are acceptable for his personal damage but should never be farmed to increase the Burst buff.
Common mistakes and how to correct them
Farming ATK% to enlarge the Burst buff
This is the most expensive misconception. Artifact ATK% and flat ATK do not enter the Burst-buff calculation. Correct the build by prioritizing weapon Base ATK when changing weapons is appropriate, then use artifacts for ER, healing, set effects, or Bennett’s own damage.

Copying one ER target into every team
ER needs depend on the rotation and particle flow. A target that works in one party can leave Bennett short in another, while a high-particle team may need less. Measure the rotation you actually repeat instead of treating a single number as universal.
Using Healing Bonus by habit
A Healing Bonus circlet can be useful, but the longer guide says Bennett’s healing is often sufficient without it. If the team is healthy, an HP% or CRIT circlet may produce more value. Increase healing only when incoming damage demonstrates that it is needed.
Ignoring duplicate set effects
Putting Noblesse Oblige on Bennett without checking the rest of the party can leave a valuable four-piece slot redundant. Assign each team set to the character who can activate it reliably while giving the party the combination of ATK, EM, or damage bonuses it actually uses.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Building EM without confirming reaction ownership
EM pays off when Bennett triggers the reactions. If another character owns most of them, Bennett may gain more from CRIT, Pyro DMG, HP%, or ER. Confirm who is triggering reactions in the chosen rotation before committing to full EM.
How much confidence to place in older build advice
The mechanical rule separating Base ATK from artifact ATK is stable in the cited KeqingMains guides. Team recommendations, set preferences, and the relative value of particular bonuses can change as new characters, weapons, enemies, and artifact sets are added. The longer “Trial by Fire” guide contains older content, so treat exact rankings and team-specific prescriptions as context-dependent rather than timeless. Recheck patch-specific interactions when rebuilding Bennett after a major game update.
The durable decision framework is simple: make Burst uptime reliable, match healing to the team’s needs, choose a set whose party effect benefits the damage dealers, and only then optimize Bennett’s personal damage or reaction stats. That is why artifacts matter on Bennett even though artifact ATK does not increase his Burst buff.
