2. Castr — strongest documented fit for cloud playout plus multistream distribution
Castr documents two related but distinct services. Its multistream product takes one RTMP, SRT, or WHIP contribution feed and distributes it to connected destinations, including YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitch, and custom RTMP or SRT endpoints. Counts and plan terms can change. The cited pages do not provide comparable current prices across these services, and the feature descriptions are vendor documentation rather than hands-on or independent uptime testing.
How to plan several separate YouTube livestreams
- Write down the outputs. Count distinct programs and schedules separately from YouTube accounts and other destinations. A single program sent to three destinations is not three independently programmed channels.
- Choose the source workflow. For uploaded videos played continuously, choose a cloud playout service. For a live show produced in OBS or another encoder and relayed to several destinations, choose a multistream service. For both, confirm that the provider supports the combination you need.
- Map each program to an output and destination. Ask the provider whether each independent schedule needs a separate playout channel, slot, stream key, or destination authorization, and whether the plan permits all of them concurrently.
- Check YouTube account limits before connecting outputs. YouTube currently allows a channel 10 active streams and a stream key three active streams; both limits apply simultaneously. A service’s destination allowance cannot override these YouTube limits. YouTube Help: live streaming
- Test the setup before relying on it. Confirm that the intended program appears on the right channel, audio and video are present, the schedule loops or advances as expected, and the provider’s recovery behavior is clear. Keep a record of which stream key belongs to each output.
YouTube eligibility and content rules still apply
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days to livestream. Its live-streaming rules also require compliance with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. If YouTube restricts an account from live streaming, using another channel to livestream during the restriction is prohibited circumvention. A third-party service does not remove those obligations. YouTube’s cross-platform guide says enabling a first live stream can take at least 24 hours after the initial request.
