Streamlabs Cross Clip is worth a look when you already have a clip and want to rework it, rather than asking AI to find moments across a full VOD. The best fit depends on your source platform, content type, and whether you need highlight discovery, vertical editing, or publishing.
These are feature-based recommendations from the products’ official pages, not a tested ranking. No reviewed evidence establishes that one tool consistently finds better moments than the others.
How to choose an AI stream clip editor
“Making clips” can mean three different jobs. Decide which one you need before comparing plans:
- Find moments: Analyze a long recording or VOD and suggest sections to turn into shorts.
- Reformat and edit: Work from a clip you already have, reframe it for vertical video, add captions or layouts, and make adjustments.
- Publish: Download an export, schedule it, or post it directly to a social platform. These are not interchangeable features.
Then check that the tool accepts your source—such as a Twitch, YouTube, or Kick recording or clip—and that the feature you want is included in the plan you would actually use. Product pages describe capabilities, but they do not prove that AI will identify the moments you personally consider strongest.

Best options by workflow
1. StreamLadder: a VOD-to-clips workflow for Twitch, YouTube, and Kick
StreamLadder says its ClipGPT feature analyzes an entire VOD for engaging moments, including reactions and chat interactions. Its official page lists Twitch, YouTube, and Kick as import sources, and TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels as export destinations. That makes it a natural option to investigate if you want the service to look through a stream rather than only reformat a clip you have already made. See StreamLadder’s current product details.
Mind the plan distinctions described in StreamLadder’s FAQ: its free plan includes the clip editor, converter, and downloader; Content Publisher starts on Starter; and ClipGPT starts on Creator. The FAQ advertises a seven-day free trial. It also distinguishes watermark behavior: basic editing does not add a watermark, while using Starter Clip Editor features on the free plan does. These are vendor-stated terms, so confirm the current feature access, trial, and watermark rules before committing.
2. Eklipse: a gaming-first option
Eklipse foregrounds gaming-stream highlights. Its homepage lists instant clips from gaming streams, conversion of highlights into TikToks, a content publisher, voice-command selection of moments, a mobile app, and premium Kick support. If your footage is game streams and you want an automated highlights workflow, those are relevant features to compare against your needs. The available product information does not establish its comparative highlight quality, current plan prices, or independent performance. Check Eklipse’s current features.

3. OpusClip: broader livestream and long-video repurposing
OpusClip describes importing livestreams and long videos, selecting moments with AI, adding captions and layouts, and scheduling social posts. Its livestream page lists YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn for scheduled posting. This makes it a candidate for creators repurposing more than gaming footage, though the available description does not establish that every format, import source, or feature is included on every plan. Review OpusClip’s livestream workflow.
OpusClip’s pricing page displays Free at $0, Starter at $15/month, Pro at $29/month, and a custom Business plan. Those are page-displayed USD monthly prices, not guaranteed checkout prices. The plan table differentiates credits, import sources, editing, watermarks, and social features, so compare the rows for the plan you would buy rather than assuming the livestream-page feature list applies to all tiers. Check OpusClip’s current plan table.
OpusClip also publishes adoption and productivity figures on its livestream page, including “500k+ livestreamers,” “3x” more short-video output, “400%” cost reduction, and “96%” faster short creation. These are vendor-reported marketing figures; the page does not provide independent validation or methodology alongside them. They are not evidence that the tool will produce better clips for an individual creator.

4. Streamlabs Cross Clip: when you already have a clip
Streamlabs’ plans page describes working with Twitch, YouTube, or Kick clip URLs, or uploading a file directly from a phone. This is relevant if a moment has already been clipped and you want to work with or share it. The available plan information does not establish that Cross Clip analyzes a full VOD to discover highlights, and detailed feature information is limited; verify the current plans before relying on a specific editing or publishing capability. See Cross Clip’s current plans.

Match the tool to your stream
If you stream games
Compare Eklipse’s gaming-focused highlight features with StreamLadder’s stated ClipGPT VOD analysis. Check whether each accepts the platform and recording you use, then test a representative VOD: include quiet stretches, match transitions, chat reactions, and the kind of moments you want viewers to see. A tool’s ability to produce clips does not guarantee it will select the moments that matter to your audience.

If you make podcasts, interviews, or other livestreams
OpusClip explicitly describes multiple livestream and long-video workflows, while StreamLadder describes VOD analysis and chat interactions. Compare how each handles your footage and whether its available plan includes the captions, layouts, manual editing, and publishing destinations you need.
If you already know which moment to use
A clip-oriented workflow such as the one described by Cross Clip may be sufficient. You may not need to pay for full-recording discovery if you already make clips in your streaming platform and only need to adapt or share them.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Check the whole workflow before paying
- Confirm the input. Is the source a full VOD, a platform clip URL, or a local file? Check the exact service and account tier that can import it.
- Confirm moment discovery. Determine whether the product analyzes the full recording or expects you to provide a chosen clip.
- Inspect the edit. Look for vertical reframing, captions, layouts, and manual control. Make sure the feature is available on the plan you are considering.
- Trace the export. Check whether you receive a downloadable video, can schedule posts, or can publish directly—and which social platforms are supported.
- Read the plan limits. Compare credits or usage allowances, watermark rules, export restrictions, and trial terms. The headline price alone does not tell you how many usable clips you can make.
- Test a representative recording. Use footage similar to your real streams and review the suggested moments and finished framing before building the workflow around a tool.
Common selection mistakes
- Assuming every editor finds highlights: Some workflows begin with a full VOD; others begin with a clip URL or uploaded file. Check this distinction first.
- Assuming a listed feature is available on every plan: StreamLadder and OpusClip both describe tier-specific access or features. Confirm the plan table and current terms.
- Confusing exports with publishing: A download, a scheduled post, and direct social publishing are different outcomes. Verify the destination and workflow you need.
- Treating vendor outcome claims as proof: Marketing metrics and testimonials are not independent comparisons. Judge the tool using your own footage and criteria.
Copyright and channel eligibility still matter
AI clipping does not grant rights to music, game footage, or other material in a stream. Before republishing a segment, check the rights and platform rules that apply to the content. YouTube’s reused-content and monetization policies are also separate from whether an editor can technically create a short: an automated crop or caption does not by itself establish that a channel meets monetization requirements. Review the current YouTube channel monetization policies and obtain any permissions you need for material you do not own.

Keep the live channel running separately from clip editing
Clip editors turn recordings into social videos; they do not keep a YouTube channel live around the clock. If you also want a continuous YouTube stream from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos in the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on.
Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support. Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, without re-encoding or quality tiers. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly is $9.99 per month.
