If you want PlayStation merchandise without gambling on which character is inside, choose a named-character collectible: PlayStation’s Shapes Collection figures, a LEGO Horizon set, an Aloy statue, or a franchise plush or book. If you still like the reveal, blind boxes remain an option—but they are a different kind of purchase. These products span formats rather than being direct substitutes, and the cited announcements do not establish current stock or prices, so check the seller before buying.
What to choose instead of a blind box
The key distinction is whether you want to know the character before you buy. A named figure, set, statue, or plush makes the character choice predictable; a blind box keeps the contents uncertain. The formats also offer different experiences: posing a figure, building a set, displaying a statue, using a plush, reading a guide, or wearing franchise apparel.
| Option | Character or contents | Format and details | Best fit | Availability and price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation Shapes Collection | Named characters: Kratos, Atreus, Varl, Jin Sakai, and deluxe Aloy | 6-inch figures with articulation and interchangeable accessories, as described in PlayStation’s 2024 announcement | Collectors who want a character-specific figure they can pose | Current stock and price are not stated in the 2024 announcement; check current listings. |
| LEGO Horizon set | Aloy and Varl versus a Shell-Walker and Sawtooth | Buildable set intended for play and display | Collectors who want an activity as well as a finished display piece | Current stock and price are not stated on the cited PlayStation page; check current listings. |
| Dark Horse Aloy statue | Aloy | 1/6-scale statue manufactured by PureArts, according to PlayStation | Collectors looking for a dedicated display piece rather than an articulated toy | Current stock and price are not stated on the cited PlayStation page; check current listings. |
| Horizon Forbidden West Official Strategy Guide | Horizon Forbidden West guide; not a character figure | Future Press hardcover described by PlayStation as “600+ page” | Readers who want a substantial physical franchise item rather than a shelf figure | Current stock and price are not stated on the cited PlayStation page; check current listings. |
| Clank plush | Clank | Stubbins plush, listed in PlayStation’s 2018 holiday gift guide | Collectors who prefer a soft character item | The 2018 guide is historical and does not establish current availability; search for “Stubbins Clank plush” and verify any listing. |
| PlayStation apparel and accessories | Varies by product | Wearable and practical merchandise; Sony identifies apparel and accessories as official merchandise categories | Fans who want to use or wear an item rather than display a collectible | Catalog categories do not establish stock or price for any specific item; check current listings. |
Named PlayStation figures for predictable character picks
PlayStation’s 2024 Shapes Collection announcement is the clearest match for someone who wants a figure but not a random character. It names 6-inch Kratos, Atreus, Varl, and Jin Sakai figures, plus a deluxe Aloy. The announcement describes articulation and interchangeable accessories, making these closer to poseable action figures than fixed statues. It also says the figures are based on digital sculpts used for the games. That is a product announcement, not confirmation that a particular figure is currently in stock.
For a larger, display-led Horizon item, PlayStation’s merchandise page lists a 1/6-scale Aloy statue manufactured by PureArts. A statue suits a collector who values a finished pose over articulation or play. The page does not state a current price or stock status.

Buildable LEGO set
The LEGO Aloy and Varl versus Shell-Walker and Sawtooth set offers a different kind of collecting: assembling the scene yourself. It can be played with or displayed when built, so it suits buyers who want more interaction than opening a packaged figure. PlayStation’s merchandise page links to the set, but does not establish its present availability or price.
Hardcover strategy guide
PlayStation lists Future Press’s Horizon Forbidden West Official Strategy Guide as a hardcover of “600+ page.” It is a substantial physical tie-in for someone who would rather collect a book than another figure. The page does not establish current stock or price.

Plush and apparel
PlayStation’s 2018 holiday gift guide featured a Stubbins Clank plush. Because that guide is historical, it is evidence that the product was presented then—not proof that it can still be bought. Search the product name and check that any listing is active and appropriate before relying on it. For other non-figure choices, Sony’s official merchandise categories include apparel and accessories, collectibles, and toys and games; the categories themselves do not guarantee any particular item is available.
When a blind box is still the right choice
If the uncertainty is part of the fun, blind boxes offer a different experience from character-specific merchandise. Good Smile Company describes its Nendoroid Surprise format as a random 70 mm figure with a surprise part. A boxset includes every character figure, but not every possible surprise part, so buying the set does not guarantee every variant accessory. These are general collectible examples, not PlayStation-branded alternatives.

Funko also presents Premium Blind Boxes as a surprise-format option. Check the specific product listing to understand what is randomized and whether a set guarantees a complete character lineup; the cited page does not establish that every boxset or product works the same way.
How to check a listing before you buy
- Confirm the exact character and format. Check whether the listing names the character and whether the item is an articulated figure, statue, buildable set, plush, book, or wearable product.
- Check what is actually included. For a blind-box set, distinguish a complete character lineup from complete accessory or surprise-part variants.
- Verify current stock and price with the seller. PlayStation’s product pages and announcements identify merchandise, but do not establish current inventory or pricing for these items.
- For older products, validate the listing itself. The Clank plush and Kidrobot God of War vinyl blind boxes appeared in a 2018 PlayStation gift guide; that historical mention is not a current sales listing.
PlayStation mystery boxes were event-specific
PlayStation’s 2019 San Diego Comic-Con announcement described daily mystery boxes containing five items each, with 500 or fewer units manufactured for each item. Those details refer to that event and its products, not a standing PlayStation release or evidence of current availability. They are useful context for collectors interested in the history of PlayStation mystery merchandise, but they do not make the boxes an alternative source of known-character items today.

Where PlayStation merchandise fits
Sony lists apparel and accessories, collectibles, and toys and games among its merchandise categories, and says its licensing partnerships are global with plans to expand into other categories. That breadth explains why a collector can look beyond figures to books, building sets, plush, and wearable goods. It does not mean every category contains a current product for every franchise. Check the particular item and seller rather than treating a category page or older announcement as a live catalog.
