For a broad game library beyond PlayStation, Xbox Game Pass is the closest service to compare—if its plans support the devices you play on. Ubisoft+ and EA Play are better fits when you specifically want games from those publishers, and EA Play may already be included in a Game Pass plan. The right pick is the service that has the games you want, on your platform, under a plan that includes the access method you need.
How to choose a game-library subscription
Start with the games, not a headline catalog count. Subscription libraries change, and the available titles, platforms and access methods differ by plan and region. No stable, directly comparable total game count is established for these services.
- Wanted games: Look up the specific titles and franchises you want in each service’s live catalog. Xbox provides filters for recently added, coming soon and leaving soon; PlayStation also maintains a live catalog. Xbox Game Pass catalog · PlayStation Plus catalog
- Device and plan: Check whether the plan covers your console, Windows PC or supported cloud-play device. A service name alone does not guarantee access on every platform.
- Download or stream: Confirm whether you can download the games on your device or need streaming, and which tier includes that option.
- Catalog turnover: Check titles leaving soon before subscribing for a particular game. Catalog access is not permanent ownership.
- Bundles and local terms: Check whether another membership you already pay for includes the publisher service, then verify local price, taxes, billing, promotions and cancellation terms with the provider.
Xbox Game Pass: the broad alternative to compare
Game Pass has multiple plans rather than one uniform package. Xbox provides a plan comparison and a separate live catalog. Compare the features for your device and region, then check whether the games you want are currently included. Xbox’s catalog identifies recently added, coming soon and leaving soon titles, as well as other groupings such as day-one releases.
Choose by fit: console players should check the console plan’s current inclusions; PC players should check PC access; and anyone interested in cloud play should verify that their specific plan, region and device support it. Plan features and catalog availability can change, so the live pages are more useful than relying on a general claim about what “Game Pass” includes.

Ubisoft+: best when you mainly want Ubisoft games
Ubisoft+ is a publisher-focused option, not a like-for-like broad library replacement. Ubisoft describes distinct access routes: Ubisoft+ Classics is included with PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, while Ubisoft+ Premium offers access through Ubisoft Connect on PC and on Xbox consoles. Check Ubisoft’s subscription details and game catalog for the included games, editions and applicable platform terms.
Do not assume Classics includes every Premium title, or that Premium is available on every device. If you already subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium, or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, check the included Classics benefit before paying separately.

EA Play: an EA-focused library that may be bundled
EA Play is most relevant if the EA games in its library are the main draw. EA says the service is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. If you have either plan, check your benefit before buying a separate EA Play membership. EA’s EA Play page describes the service; availability and terms depend on the membership and platform.
When PlayStation Plus is still the better fit
If you play on PlayStation, compare alternatives against the PlayStation Plus tier and catalog you can actually use. The US catalog page lists games by category and notes that some titles have end dates. It also says PS4 games will be added only intermittently from January 2026, excluding overseas territories. Premium members may stream Game Catalog and Classics Catalog titles to PS4, PS5 or PC, subject to the page’s regional and service terms. See the PlayStation Plus catalog for current listings.

That streaming detail applies to Premium, not every PlayStation Plus tier. Before choosing another service, check whether the PlayStation games you want are currently available through your membership and whether streaming or downloads suit your setup.

- Write down the games you want to play soon, not just genres or franchises.
- Search each official live catalog for those titles and note anything marked as leaving soon.
- Match each candidate to your device and confirm the exact plan’s download or streaming access.
- Check for publisher benefits already included in a subscription you pay for, especially Ubisoft+ Classics and EA Play.
- Review your region’s price, billing cadence, eligibility and cancellation terms on the provider’s own page before purchase.
Use current official catalog pages rather than an old list or a raw library-size claim: availability can change, and a large catalog is not useful if it lacks the games you want.
