The two substantiated prebuilt alternatives to consider are the Lenovo Legion Tower 7i (34L, Gen 10) and the Alienware Aurora ACT1250. Both have configurations listed with an RTX 5080, but neither can be called cheaper, faster, or better value without comparing current, exact configurations in your market. Check the full component bundle and purchase terms—not just the graphics card—before choosing.

Which RTX 5080 desktops belong on the shortlist?

HP’s OMEN 35L Intel desktop, Lenovo’s Legion Tower 7i Gen 10 and Alienware’s Aurora ACT1250 are relevant because the available manufacturer specifications or review coverage identify RTX 5080 configurations for all three. That establishes a shortlist, not a performance ranking: the cited sources do not provide a like-for-like RTX 5080 benchmark comparison, and they do not establish current local prices or stock.

“Up to RTX 5080” describes a configuration ceiling. It does not mean every model number or listing for a desktop contains that card. Check the exact SKU and its full specification before treating a product-family page or review as a description of the machine being sold.

Desktop RTX 5080 evidence Other configuration information established Useful distinction to investigate
HP OMEN 35L Intel HP lists an option with an RTX 5080 and 16 GB GDDR7. HP lists options up to a Core Ultra 9 285K, 64 GB DDR5-5600, two 2 TB SSDs and one 2 TB HDD, and an OMEN 240 mm liquid cooler. HP describes space and options for upgrades; confirm the exact system’s parts and compatibility.
Lenovo Legion Tower 7i (34L, Gen 10) Lenovo’s PSREF specification record includes an RTX 5080 option with 16 GB GDDR7. The cited PSREF record establishes the GPU option, not a current retail configuration or price. Match the model number and verify the CPU, memory, storage, cooling, power supply and support terms on the listing.
Alienware Aurora ACT1250 TechRadar reports configurations up to an RTX 5080. TechRadar’s review coverage describes options up to a Core Ultra 9 285K, 64 GB RAM and 8 TB storage. TechRadar flags potential future-upgrade limits and a proprietary motherboard; verify the exact SKU and terms.

The HP component figures in the table are maximum options listed on its product page, not a claim that one standard OMEN 35L ships with all of them. Lenovo PSREF is a manufacturer specification resource, while the Aurora capacities above come from TechRadar’s review coverage. Retailer options can differ by region.

Lenovo Legion Tower 7i Gen 10: the alternative to investigate for a full configuration match

Lenovo’s PSREF record lists the Legion Tower 7i (34L, Gen 10) with an RTX 5080 featuring 16 GB GDDR7. That makes it a legitimate model family to compare with an RTX 5080 OMEN 35L. The record alone does not tell you which combination of CPU, memory, storage, cooling or power supply is available in your local store, nor whether a particular listing is in stock.

What to verify on a Legion listing

  • Model number and GPU: Confirm that the listing is specifically for the 34L, Gen 10 configuration you intend to buy and that the installed GPU is the RTX 5080 16 GB GDDR7 option. A product-family name is not enough.
  • CPU and cooler: Record the exact processor and cooling arrangement. Do not assume that a CPU or cooler mentioned in another configuration applies to the RTX 5080 listing.
  • Memory: Check installed capacity, speed and whether the modules form a matched kit. The cited Lenovo specification record does not establish the memory configuration of a particular retail SKU.
  • Storage: Compare the capacity, drive types and number of drives with the OMEN configuration you are considering. A single drive and multiple drives with the same total capacity are not necessarily the same bundle.
  • Power and fit: Confirm the power supply specification, the GPU power connector and cabling, and that the selected card fits the case. The cited PSREF GPU entry is not a substitute for checking those details on the exact listing.
  • Support and returns: Read the warranty, service coverage, delivery estimate and return terms offered for that model in your market. The specification record does not establish those purchase terms.

If you cannot verify the rest of the component bundle, treat the Legion as a shortlist candidate rather than a confirmed one-to-one match. Lenovo’s published RTX 5080 option is evidence that the model family is relevant; it is not evidence that every retailer currently offers the same configuration.

Alienware Aurora ACT1250: a second RTX 5080 option with an upgrade caveat

TechRadar reports that Aurora ACT1250 configurations reach an RTX 5080 and Core Ultra 9 285K, with up to 64 GB of memory and up to 8 TB of storage in its review coverage. The publication reports availability in the US, UK and Australia, but retailer listings and configuration options may differ by region. Confirm that the exact ACT1250 SKU you can buy includes the GPU and components you want.

The main reason to scrutinize the Aurora beyond its headline GPU is future expansion. TechRadar’s roundup identifies potential future-upgrade limits and a proprietary motherboard as drawbacks. Those are reviewer observations, not proof that every ACT1250 SKU has identical upgrade constraints. If you expect to replace or add components later, check the motherboard, power supply, case layout and warranty terms for the specific system rather than assuming standard parts or unrestricted compatibility.

Questions to answer before choosing the Aurora

  • Does the exact listing include the RTX 5080, rather than a lower-tier GPU from the same product family?
  • What are the installed CPU, memory capacity and storage configuration, rather than the maximum options described in review coverage?
  • Can the parts you may want to replace or add be changed in this particular SKU, and are there compatibility or service constraints?
  • What warranty and return terms apply where you live?

Those checks matter most if you are buying the desktop as a platform to upgrade, not simply as a prebuilt system to use in its delivered configuration.

Use the OMEN 35L as a configuration baseline, not a single fixed build

HP lists an Intel OMEN 35L configuration ceiling of a Core Ultra 9 285K, RTX 5080 with 16 GB GDDR7, 64 GB DDR5-5600, two 2 TB SSDs and one 2 TB HDD, plus an OMEN 240 mm liquid cooler. These are “up to” options on HP’s product page. They should not be read as a standard bundle or as evidence that one locally available SKU combines every maximum.

HP also lists case dimensions of 8.27 × 16.06 × 16.14 inches and says the case fits a graphics card up to 335 mm. Those are useful reference points if you are comparing desk space or checking a specific GPU’s length, but they do not establish the dimensions or card clearance of either alternative.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

HP’s page says the 35L has “space and options to upgrade for the future.” That is HP’s promotional description. For a purchase decision, translate “upgradeable” into specific questions: which components are replaceable, what room and connectors are available, whether the power supply can support a different GPU, and what the warranty says about service or modifications.

How to compare two RTX 5080 prebuilts fairly

Start with the exact machines available to buy, not the broadest advertised specification. Two desktops can share an RTX 5080 name and still differ substantially in their processor, memory, drive layout, cooling, power supply and included support. The evidence here does not establish that the Lenovo or Alienware is faster, quieter, cooler or more reliable than a matching OMEN 35L.

  1. Write down the full SKU. Save the model number and retailer listing for each candidate. Verify the GPU installed in that exact SKU; “up to RTX 5080” is not sufficient.
  2. Match the processor and cooling. Compare exact CPU models and the listed cooling configuration. The OMEN page’s maximum CPU and cooler do not prove they are paired in the system for sale.
  3. Compare memory as installed. Record capacity and speed, and check whether the modules are a matched kit. Do not treat an advertised maximum as the installed amount.
  4. Compare storage layout, not just a total. Note the capacity and type of each drive and how many drives are included. HP’s listed maximum bundle, for example, describes two 2 TB SSDs and one 2 TB HDD, but a listing may offer less.
  5. Check GPU power and physical fit. Verify the power supply rating and cabling for the exact RTX 5080, along with case clearance and the card’s dimensions. HP lists a 335 mm maximum graphics-card length for the 35L; the equivalent details must be confirmed for each alternative.
  6. Assess cooling and noise using matched evidence. Look for measurements from reviews that identify the tested CPU, GPU and system configuration. Do not infer RTX 5080 thermals or noise from a review sample using a different GPU.
  7. Investigate the upgrade path. Check motherboard, PSU and case compatibility against the changes you might actually make. Treat the Aurora upgrade warning as a reason to investigate its exact SKU, not as a universal finding about every configuration.
  8. Compare the purchase terms in your region. Check live price, stock, delivery, warranty, service and retailer return policy for each exact SKU. The sources cited here do not establish current local prices, inventory or equivalent warranties.

Only after those checks can a price comparison answer whether one complete system is a better buy for you. Comparing a bare GPU label or two different maximum configurations can make a nominal price gap misleading.

A practical price-comparison worksheet

When you open listings side by side, capture the exact SKU, current listed price, stock status and delivery estimate in one place. Then record the installed CPU and cooler, GPU and its memory, RAM capacity and speed, each included storage drive, PSU details, and warranty and return terms. Mark an item “not stated” rather than filling gaps with assumptions. That makes missing information visible and gives you a short list of questions for the retailer or manufacturer.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Compare systems with the components and support you actually want, not only the headline prices. If one configuration includes more memory or storage, note that distinction; do not assume that a higher price is automatically justified or that a lower price means better value. The sources do not verify a current deal or a market-wide fair price for any of these desktops, so any conclusion should be based on listings available to you at the time of purchase.

What review coverage does—and does not—show

Tom’s Guide describes testing an OMEN 35L review sample with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32 GB DDR5 and an RTX 5070 Ti, and says OMEN 35L configurations reach an RTX 5080. Its tested sample is not an RTX 5080 performance test. It cannot establish how an RTX 5080 OMEN 35L compares with an RTX 5080 Legion or Aurora.

Likewise, TechRadar’s Aurora configuration descriptions support the existence of RTX 5080 options and its reviewer’s comments about upgrade limitations, but they do not supply a like-for-like performance result against the OMEN or Lenovo. PC Gamer’s 2026 comparison reports that an NZXT Player Three Prime with an RTX 5090 and Ryzen 7 9800X3D beat the OMEN 35L sample tested in that comparison, at substantially higher cost. That system uses a different GPU and is not evidence that the NZXT is a direct RTX 5080 alternative or better value for this decision.

Without matched testing, claims about relative gaming performance, temperatures, noise or reliability would go beyond what these sources establish. If those are your deciding factors, look for reviews that test the same GPU tier and comparable system configurations, and check which exact SKU was measured.

Which one should you put on your shortlist?

  • Choose the Legion Tower 7i Gen 10 for further comparison if you find a locally available 34L, Gen 10 listing that explicitly includes the RTX 5080 and provides enough detail to compare its other components and terms with the OMEN.
  • Choose the Aurora ACT1250 for further comparison if its exact local listing includes the RTX 5080 and its configuration suits you, after checking the motherboard and the upgrade path you expect to need.
  • Keep the OMEN 35L in the comparison if the specific listing offers the component bundle and upgrade options you want. Its maximum specifications are not a promise that the SKU on sale has them all.

There is no evidence here to name an overall winner. The meaningful next step is to compare exact, purchasable configurations and support terms in your region; the shortlist narrows the search but does not replace that check.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the HP OMEN 35L with an RTX 5080 worth $2,600?

That price cannot be judged from the GPU name alone, and a discussion title asking whether an OMEN with an RTX 5080 and i7-14700F is worth $2,600 is anecdotal, not a verified market benchmark. Check the exact SKU’s CPU, memory, storage, cooling, PSU, warranty, stock and return terms, then compare it with current local listings for the Legion Tower 7i and Aurora ACT1250. The available figures do not establish a current fair price or a value winner.

Is $2,512 a good price for an RTX 5080 / Core Ultra 9 build?

There is no universal answer without the full configuration and market context. A discussion title about a $2,512 RTX 5080 and Ultra 9 build does not verify the parts, purchase terms or whether that price is current. Compare the exact CPU, RAM, drives, cooler, PSU and support coverage with similarly equipped systems available where you live; treat any missing listing details as unknown.

Are the Lenovo Legion Tower 7i and Alienware Aurora definitely cheaper than the OMEN 35L?

No verified current prices or stock comparisons establish that. Check listings for the exact RTX 5080 SKUs in your market, including their component bundles, delivery, warranty, service and return terms. A difference in CPU, memory, storage or support can make headline prices difficult to compare.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does every OMEN 35L, Legion Tower 7i or Aurora ACT1250 have an RTX 5080?

No. The cited information identifies RTX 5080 options or configurations, not a guarantee for every product-family listing. Confirm the GPU on the exact model number and retailer listing before ordering.

Which alternative has the best RTX 5080 gaming performance?

The available coverage does not provide a like-for-like RTX 5080 benchmark test across the OMEN 35L, Legion Tower 7i and Aurora ACT1250. Tom’s Guide’s OMEN sample used an RTX 5070 Ti, while PC Gamer’s comparison involved an RTX 5090 NZXT system. Neither comparison answers which of these RTX 5080 prebuilts is fastest.

Is the Alienware Aurora ACT1250 upgradeable?

TechRadar flags potential future-upgrade limits and a proprietary motherboard as drawbacks, but that is a reviewer observation and does not establish identical restrictions for every SKU. Check the motherboard, power supply, case layout, component compatibility and service terms for the exact system you are considering, especially if you plan to replace or add parts.

The Bottom Line

The Legion Tower 7i (34L, Gen 10) and Alienware Aurora ACT1250 are credible RTX 5080 alternatives to investigate, not proven winners over the OMEN 35L. Confirm the installed GPU and complete component bundle, then compare current local prices, upgrade compatibility, warranty and returns for exact SKUs. Available coverage does not establish a like-for-like performance or value winner.
