Choose Pawmot for a more aggressive physical role, Rotom when you need flexible utility, Magnezone for defensive and special pressure, Bellibolt for a bulky slot, or Galvantula for speed and utility. Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu may eventually change that advice, but the Pokémon Day 2026 reveal did not publish the battle data needed to rank either character honestly.
What is actually known about the new Pikachu characters?
The Pokémon Day 2026 presentation introduced Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves and showed a pair of special Pikachu with a brand-new look. Current coverage identifies them as Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu. They are the characters readers mean when they ask about the “new Pikachu clone.”
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
That reveal is not the same as a battle announcement. The published coverage does not establish either character’s base stats, moves, ability, typing, encounter method, evolution rules, version availability, transfer compatibility, or competitive performance. There is therefore no factual basis for saying that Mr. Windychu is stronger than Pikachu, that Ms. Wavychu replaces Raichu, or that either one belongs on a particular team archetype.
Until those details are released, the sensible approach is to fill the team slot with an established Pokémon whose role is already clear. Appearance can make a new mascot appealing, but it cannot tell you whether your team needs speed, physical damage, special pressure, bulk, a secondary typing, or utility.

Quick comparison: which replacement fits your team?
| Pokémon | Best role | Choose it when… | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raichu | Closest direct replacement | You want the familiar Pikachu-line identity and a straightforward Electric attacker. | It does not automatically solve a team’s need for extra bulk, a secondary typing, or specialized utility. |
| Pawmot | Aggressive physical attacker | Your team needs a more active, close-range attacker than a mascot-style pick. | It changes the team’s offensive profile rather than reproducing Pikachu’s role exactly. |
| Rotom | Flexible utility | You value role flexibility and want forms that can change the team’s secondary-typing and utility options. | The correct choice depends on which form is available and legal in your game. |
| Magnezone | Defensive and special pressure | You need a sturdier Electric/Steel presence and want a materially different defensive profile from a pure Electric rodent. | It is a structural team choice, not a like-for-like Pikachu substitute. |
| Bellibolt | Bulky Electric slot | You prefer staying power and a slower, durable team position. | It is less suitable when the team’s main problem is speed. |
| Galvantula | Speed and utility | You want Electric/Bug coverage and a faster, utility-oriented build. | Its value comes from support and coverage as much as from direct damage. |
“Best” is therefore a role question, not a universal ranking. A Pokémon that is ideal for a slow, defensive roster can be a poor replacement on a team that already lacks speed, while a fast utility pick may be redundant on a team built around control and endurance.
Raichu: the closest conventional replacement
Why it is the default answer
Raichu is the most direct answer when the request is really “What should I use instead of Pikachu?” It keeps the Pikachu-line identity while giving the team a conventional Electric attacker. That makes it the least disruptive replacement: the team can retain its mascot-like theme without switching to a completely different battle concept.
When Raichu fits
- You want a familiar Pikachu-line Pokémon rather than a new role.
- Your roster already covers physical pressure, bulk, and secondary typings elsewhere.
- You need a straightforward Electric slot and do not yet know what special mechanics the unreleased characters will receive.
What Raichu does not guarantee
Raichu is not automatically the strongest Electric choice, and choosing it does not fix a team with an obvious structural weakness. If the roster is too fragile, lacks a defensive switch-in, or needs a second typing, a more specialized option may be more useful. Treat Raichu as the closest identity match, not as a claim that it wins every matchup.
Pawmot: the aggressive physical option
Why choose it
Pawmot is the better substitute when your team needs an active physical attacker rather than another mascot-style Electric pick. Its value is in changing how the team applies pressure: instead of preserving Pikachu’s presentation and identity, it gives the roster a more direct close-range threat.

Team situations it solves
- The current Electric slot contributes mostly indirect or special pressure, while the rest of the team needs a physical attacker.
- Your team is built to maintain momentum and wants a Pokémon that participates directly in exchanges.
- You like the idea of an Electric representative but do not need the replacement to resemble Pikachu.
Questions to answer before selecting it
Check whether the rest of the team already has enough physical attackers, whether it can handle opponents that punish close-range play, and whether the specific game gives you access to Pawmot early enough to matter. Those checks are more important than selecting it simply because it is another recognizable Electric species.
Rotom: the flexible utility option
Why its forms matter
Rotom is useful when “Electric Pokémon” needs to mean more than one fixed job. Its different forms let a team discuss role and secondary-typing flexibility instead of treating every Electric choice as interchangeable. That makes Rotom a strong answer for players who want the replacement to adapt to the rest of the roster.
How to evaluate Rotom for a team
- List the team’s existing weaknesses. Note whether the roster lacks utility, defensive flexibility, or a particular type of pressure.
- Check which Rotom forms the game permits. A form that is unavailable, version-locked, or illegal in the format cannot solve the problem on paper.
- Choose the form for the role, not the novelty. The secondary typing and utility package should cover a real team need.
- Recheck overlap. If another team member already supplies the same utility and typing, Rotom may add less than a more focused replacement.
Its main trade-off
Rotom is not one fixed replacement. The answer depends on the form, the game, and the format. That flexibility is its advantage, but it also means that “use Rotom” is incomplete advice unless you identify the legal form and the job it is expected to perform.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Magnezone: defensive and special pressure
Why its typing changes the team
Magnezone’s Electric/Steel typing gives the roster a materially different defensive profile from a pure Electric rodent. It is the right direction when your team needs an Electric Pokémon that contributes to defensive structure while applying special pressure, rather than simply adding another fast-looking attacker.

When Magnezone is the better replacement
- Your team has enough speed but needs a sturdier point of contact.
- You want the Electric slot to contribute defensively as well as offensively.
- You are deliberately building around secondary typing instead of preserving Pikachu-line identity.
What to check first
Because Magnezone changes the team’s defensive profile, inspect the roster as a whole after adding it. Identify which weaknesses are now concentrated in one teammate, whether the team can keep momentum when Magnezone is pressured, and whether the game’s encounter or evolution requirements make it practical for the playthrough or format you are using.
Bellibolt: the bulky option
Why it fits slower teams
Bellibolt belongs in the conversation when staying power matters more than immediate speed. It is a bulky Electric option for a slower, durable team slot, making it useful when the roster needs to absorb pressure and remain functional over a longer exchange.
Choose Bellibolt when
- Your team loses because it cannot stay on the field long enough to execute its plan.
- You already have fast attackers and want the Electric slot to add durability.
- You prefer a deliberate pace and do not need the replacement to imitate Pikachu’s presentation.
Do not use bulk as a substitute for a plan
A bulky slot still needs a purpose. Decide whether Bellibolt is there to absorb pressure, create safe turns for teammates, or anchor a slower core. If the rest of the roster is also slow and lacks ways to regain momentum, adding another durable Pokémon may make the team passive rather than balanced.

Why it is different
Galvantula brings Electric/Bug coverage and a faster, utility-oriented identity. It is a better replacement than Raichu when the team’s problem is not “I need another Electric attacker,” but “I need speed and a way to support the team while applying pressure.”

When it is the right fit
- The roster is too slow to control the pace of battles.
- You want secondary typing to broaden the team’s coverage.
- You value utility and positioning rather than relying only on direct damage.
Its trade-off
Galvantula’s appeal comes from the combination of speed, utility, and coverage. If your team already has those functions, its addition may be less meaningful than a bulky or defensive replacement. Evaluate the empty role first, then decide whether Electric/Bug actually fills it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose without knowing the clone’s future stats
1. Define the empty team role
Before comparing species, write one sentence describing the slot: “I need a fast utility Pokémon,” “I need physical pressure,” “I need a durable pivot,” or “I want the closest Pikachu-line identity.” If you cannot state the role, you are likely choosing by appearance alone.
2. Decide whether secondary typing is necessary
Pure Electric identity is simplest, but a secondary typing can change both offensive coverage and defensive responsibilities. Raichu is the identity-first choice. Magnezone and Galvantula are the clearest examples of replacements that alter the team’s type structure. Rotom’s forms make the same decision more flexible, provided the needed form is available.
3. Balance speed and bulk
A fast team may gain more from Bellibolt’s durability than from another speed-focused pick. A slow team may need Galvantula or another active option rather than an additional bulky slot. Compare the replacement with the five Pokémon already on the roster, not with an imaginary perfect team.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.

The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.

Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
4. Identify the damage profile you lack
Pawmot is the clearest choice when the team needs aggressive physical pressure. Magnezone is suited to defensive and special pressure. Raichu is the straightforward conventional attacker. Do not add a second Pokémon that repeats the team’s existing damage profile unless the format rewards that concentration.
5. Confirm availability in the actual game
The reveal is associated with Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, but the available material does not establish encounter locations, version exclusivity, transfer rules, or compatibility for Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu. The same caution applies when planning with established alternatives: verify that the Pokémon can be obtained, evolved, transferred, and used in the specific game or ruleset you have selected.
6. Reassess after the first team test
Look for a concrete failure: losing the speed race, lacking a safe switch, being unable to apply physical pressure, or having redundant utility. Replace the slot only when you can name the problem the current Pokémon failed to solve. This keeps the decision evidence-based even before the new characters receive complete battle documentation.

|---|---|---|---|
| Keep the Pikachu-line feel | Raichu | It is the closest conventional replacement and preserves the familiar identity. | Choose a specialist instead if the team has a clear strategic gap. |
| Add physical aggression | Pawmot | It provides the more active physical role the roster may be missing. | Use Raichu only if identity matters more than changing the damage profile. |
| Add flexible utility | Rotom | Its forms let the role and secondary typing adapt to the roster. | Use Galvantula when the need is specifically speed and utility. |
| Add defensive structure | Magnezone | Electric/Steel changes the team’s defensive profile and supports special pressure. | Use Bellibolt when durability matters but a secondary typing is not the priority. |
| Stay on the field longer | Bellibolt | It is the bulky option for a slower, durable slot. | Use Magnezone when the team needs defensive typing as well. |
| Improve speed and coverage | Galvantula | Electric/Bug supports a faster, utility-oriented build. | Use Rotom when several different utility roles are plausible. |
What not to claim about Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu yet
Do not describe either character as stronger, faster, bulkier, or more competitive than Pikachu until authoritative battle information is published. Do not assign them a type, ability, signature move, evolution path, encounter method, or team role based on their names or visual design. A wind-themed or wave-themed appearance may suggest a concept, but suggestion is not confirmation.
Also avoid treating the pair as one interchangeable species. The presentation showed two characters, and the available coverage does not establish whether they differ mechanically, cosmetically, by version, or only by presentation. Any ranking that assumes they share stats or moves would be speculation.
Availability and format checks before you commit
- Game edition: Confirm which Pokémon and forms are obtainable in your edition.
- Timing: Check whether the replacement appears early enough for the part of the game where you need it.
- Evolution or form requirements: Verify any required item, location, trade, or other condition before building the entire team around the slot.
- Battle rules: A Pokémon available in the story may still be restricted in a particular competitive format.
- Transfer and compatibility: Do not assume that a newly revealed character, form, or event Pokémon can move between games.
- Role overlap: Recheck the full six-Pokémon roster after adding the replacement; a good individual option can still make a poor team.
A practical decision tree
- Do you mainly want Pikachu-line identity? Start with Raichu.
- Does the team specifically lack physical pressure? Examine Pawmot.
- Does the team need a form-dependent utility package? Examine Rotom and confirm the legal form.
- Does the team need a stronger defensive framework and special pressure? Examine Magnezone.
- Is survival and a slower pace the main problem? Examine Bellibolt.
- Is the roster too slow or missing Electric/Bug coverage? Examine Galvantula.
- Are you choosing solely because of the new character’s appearance? Wait for confirmed mechanics or select the established Pokémon whose role you can explain.
When the new characters receive complete battle details
Revisit the comparison using the same axes: speed versus bulk, pure Electric identity versus secondary typing, physical versus special pressure, utility versus direct damage, and confirmed availability. Then compare their published information with the role your team actually lacks. A new mascot can be worth using without being the strongest option, and an established alternative can remain better for a particular team even after the new characters become playable.
For now, the responsible conclusion is narrower: Raichu is the closest direct replacement, while Pawmot, Rotom, Magnezone, Bellibolt, and Galvantula are better answers when your team needs a specific role. Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu are not yet rankable on battle performance from the information that has been published.
