Soundtrack by Twitch has been discontinued. Twitch’s official alternatives page names six music services for streamers: Chillhop Music, NCS, Outertone by RouteNote, Pretzel by Songtradr, StreamBeats, and Monstercat Gold. None should be treated as a blanket guarantee against copyright claims: check that a service’s current licence covers your Twitch live stream, VODs, clips, monetization, and any other platform where you use the music.
What happened to Soundtrack by Twitch?
Twitch announced in June 2023 that Soundtrack would soon shut down. In a July 17, 2023 update, Twitch said the Soundtrack API endpoints had been removed from its documentation and returned HTTP 410, and directed developers to its music-options page for alternatives. Soundtrack is no longer a current option. Twitch’s shutdown notice is the official record.
Soundtrack had offered a curated collection of rights-cleared tracks, software integration, and music separated into its own audio channel. Those are historical features, not assurances about the replacements. Twitch’s September 2020 launch post specified OBS Studio v26.0 or later on PC for the beta and said Twitch Studio and Streamlabs OBS compatibility would follow; that launch-era information does not establish current integrations. Twitch’s Soundtrack launch post describes the old service.
Twitch’s named alternatives
Twitch’s Music Options for Streamers page names these six services. Its catalog counts are explicitly qualified as applying “at time of posting,” and its broad price labels should not be read as verified current pricing.

The listing is a useful shortlist, not a current provider-by-provider rights audit. Twitch’s November 2020 copyright guidance also named Soundstripe, Monstercat Gold, Chillhop, Epidemic Sound, and NCS as examples of rights-cleared music libraries. Those historical examples do not establish today’s terms or constitute a current endorsement. Twitch’s copyright guidance is dated November 11, 2020.
How to choose a replacement for your stream
Check rights for each destination and format
Ask whether the licence covers music in a live Twitch broadcast, its saved VOD, clips, monetized content, and any other service where you simulcast or repost. Rights for one use do not automatically cover another. Get the terms for the exact plan and tracks you intend to use; do not rely on a general “stream-safe” label alone.

Match the workflow to your setup
Check whether the service works with your streaming software and whether you can route music separately from game, microphone, and other audio. Separate routing can matter if you need different audio in a live broadcast and its archive. Soundtrack historically offered a separate audio channel, but that feature should not be assumed for any alternative without current provider documentation.
Evaluate the catalog for your content
Search for genres, moods, playlist controls, and tracks that suit the format—gaming, chatting, DJ content, or another kind of broadcast. A headline catalog count is less useful than finding music that fits your stream and can legally be used in every format you publish.

Read account, attribution, and archive terms
Confirm whether attribution is required, which creator account or channel must be registered, and whether archived content remains covered if you cancel or the provider changes its terms. Keep records of the applicable licence and any required credits.
Compare access and total cost
Verify the current free tier or trial, paid plan, geographic availability, and whether monetized or sponsored streams are permitted. Twitch’s page does not provide verified current provider pricing; confirm prices and terms directly with the service before subscribing.

Twitch’s November 11, 2020 guidance says: “Most importantly, don’t play recorded music in your stream unless you own all rights in the music, or you have the permission of the necessary rights holder(s).” It also advises reviewing a game’s EULA when recorded music is built into the game, and considering disabling VODs and Clips if rights are unclear. Because that guidance is from 2020, check Twitch’s current policies before relying on it for a present-day decision.

The same Twitch post reported that it received fewer than 50 music-related DMCA notifications each year before May 2020, then thousands per week beginning in May 2020; more than 99% of the notices it analyzed from late May through mid-October 2020 concerned background tracks. These figures describe Twitch’s historical reporting, not current claim rates.
No library can responsibly be described here as universally “copyright-safe” or as preventing every claim. A licence is only useful when its scope matches the specific track, account, platform, broadcast, and archive in question.

Is YouTube Creator Music a Twitch Soundtrack replacement?
No: it is a separate, platform-specific option, not a direct Twitch replacement. YouTube’s help page says Creator Music is available to U.S. YouTube Partner Program creators and indicates that paid licences were to be phased out starting August 2026. Availability and terms can change, so consult YouTube’s Creator Music guidance for current eligibility and licensing details before using it.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a pre-recorded YouTube stream live around the clock, rather than choose background music for a Twitch broadcast, StreamNeo is a separate tool for that job—not a Twitch music-library replacement. It keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
