There is no source-backed single “best” Amon build for every activity in Borderlands 4. The clearest documented starting points are three distinct level-cap archetypes: a durable heavy-ordnance build, a close-range melee build, and a Forge-weapon build built around frequent action-skill use. Choose by how you want to fight, then check your skill values against the current in-game tree: the guide documenting these loadouts was last updated September 25, 2025, before Gearbox’s Amon changes in 2026.
Choose an Amon build by playstyle
These are documented archetypes, not a controlled ranking or guaranteed October 2026 meta. The gear below is example loot associated with each setup, not a list of universal requirements. The source guide’s reasoning and item suggestions are available in PC Gamer’s Amon build guide.

How to use the three documented loadouts
Heavy Weapons Warrior: ordnance and sustained ranged pressure
Pick this direction if you want to deal damage at range while leaning on heavy ordnance and defensive staying power. Its Vengeance-tree focus and Cryo/status-effect synergy give the build a different emphasis from a pure gun-damage or melee setup. The named ordnance and shield are examples from the guide; treat them as targets to consider, not mandatory pieces.
One-Punch Man: melee-first combat
This is the most direct fit for players who want to close distance and make melee damage the center of the build. Its cited synergies combine Calamity, Berserk, Kill Skills, and Groundbreaker. Scourge is included for protection; the guide does not frame this loadout as depending on Onslaughter.

Cyber Viking: Forge weapons and action skills
Choose this path if you want Forgedrones and frequent Cybernetics action-skill use to shape combat. The guide pairs that approach with elemental damage and favors Incendiary, while listing Crucible and alternative Hot Slugger or Rainbow Vomit choices.
Skill-point allocations and the level cap
The cited guide describes three max-level loadouts and a separate leveling build, but the available documentation does not provide a complete, reliably current point-by-point allocation for October 2026. Do not treat a launch-era skill spread as a level-60 prescription. Gearbox’s March 26, 2026 update raised the maximum character level to 60; consult the official March 2026 update notes and confirm the skill descriptions and values in your current game before committing points.
For leveling, the separate guide recommends Scourge and status-effect-focused progression, using fast guns that can apply status effects and flexible gear. It also advises against over-farming early equipment because you will outlevel it. Treat that as a practical suggestion rather than an official Gearbox build prescription.

What 2026 balance changes mean for these builds
Gearbox made documented Amon changes after the September 2025 guide, so its rankings should be read as dated starting points, not present-day proof of which build is strongest.

- For Version 1.6, published April 29, 2026, for the April 30 release, Gearbox said it increased Amon’s Forgedrone damage through Masterworks, Bullet Storm gun damage per stack and stack duration, and several survivability, movement, and skill values. The notes say further balance passes are planned. See Gearbox’s Version 1.6 notes.
Gearbox wrote in those Version 1.6 notes: “Getting the right balance for Action Skills and skill trees is a constant focus for us.” The notes establish changes through Version 1.6, but the sources available here do not establish whether a later Amon-specific adjustment followed by October 2026. Check the latest official update notes before treating any one setup as the current strongest.
