“Best arcade games of 2024” can mean three different things: coin-operated machines in public venues, games in Apple Arcade’s subscription catalog, or home-console collections of classic arcade titles. There is no source-backed ranking that compares all three. This guide keeps those categories separate and identifies what each source actually selected or tracked.
Apple Arcade games selected by Apple for 2024
For subscription games, Apple’s US App Store Awards page is the clearest editorial shortlist in the material available. Apple titled it “Get the US’s Top Apple Arcade Games of 2024”; it is a selection for the US storefront, not a ranking of coin-operated machines or a measured comparison of every game released that year. The selected titles include a mix of genres and established series, such as:

Choose among these based on the kind of game you want; the selection itself does not establish that one is objectively better than another. Apple described Apple Arcade in a May 6, 2024 announcement as offering games “with no ads or in-app purchases.” That statement describes Apple’s service at the time of the announcement, not arcade games generally or necessarily Apple Arcade’s current terms. Apple also reported a catalog of more than 200 titles and a US price of $6.99 per month in that announcement; those are dated figures, not current catalog or pricing information. New coin-operated arcade games released in 2024
Coin-op releases are a separate category from mobile or subscription games. Arcade Heroes’ tracker organizes releases by North America, Asia/Oceania, and Europe, and distinguishes released titles from limited releases. Examples listed for North America include Air Strike, Animal Kaiser Plus, Apex Rebels, Smash DX, Surf League, and Pump It Up 2024 Phoenix. Its Asia/Oceania examples include Dance Dance Revolution World, Initial D The Arcade: Season 4, Pop’n Music Jam & Fizz, and Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 6RR+. The tracker is useful for discovering titles, but it is not an official worldwide census. Some releases are limited to particular venues or operators, and imports can be difficult to track; the tracker does not treat imports as official distribution in a territory. A title listed for one region should not be assumed to be installed near you or officially distributed where you live. The available evidence also does not compare these machines under a common test method, so it supports a release overview—not a definitive quality ranking.

Best way to play arcade classics at home
If you want arcade games on a home console rather than a public cabinet, Nintendo’s December 19, 2024 Switch roundup includes MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics. It is a home-play compilation recommendation, distinct from a new coin-op cabinet release and from an Apple Arcade subscription title.
