If the community accepts it, the Wayspot may be added to the shared map—but acceptance does not guarantee it will appear in Pokémon GO, or that it will become a Gym.
What you can—and can’t—nominate
A Wayspot is a real-world place, object, or landmark proposed for the Scopely Explore map. You nominate the place itself, not a guaranteed PokéStop or Gym. An accepted Wayspot may be used in Pokémon GO or another Scopely Explore game, and not every accepted nomination appears in Pokémon GO.

The official guidance does not offer a way to request a Gym directly or guarantee that a particular PokéStop will become one. Submit a legitimate candidate at its actual location, and treat its eventual appearance and game placement as decisions you cannot control.
Who can submit a nomination
According to the current Pokémon GO Help Center guidance, you must be at least Level 35 to nominate a PokéStop. The feature is unavailable to child accounts. Reviewing nominations through Wayfarer has its own onboarding requirement. Check the live eligibility guidance before submitting in case requirements change.

How to nominate a Wayspot in Pokémon GO
- Open the nomination flow: In Pokémon GO, go to Main Menu → Settings → Uploads → New PokéStop. You will complete the nomination through the Scopely Explore Wayfarer website using your account.
- Choose a suitable real-world place: Identify the actual object or location you are proposing. A nomination should be clear enough for reviewers to understand what the place is and where it is.
- Take a clear photo: Photograph the nominated object or location so it can be identified. You can add up to five context photos where useful to show its surroundings or provide relevant context.
- Place the map pin accurately: Position it at the real location of the nominated object or feature. Do not move the pin to a more convenient spot or try to influence the game map.
- Write an informative title and description: Use a distinctive, useful title—preferably the place’s official name—and explain relevant history, origin, or context in the description. Keep both specific to the real-world place.
- Add supporting information: Use the supporting information to explain why the nomination meets the criteria and help reviewers assess it. Then submit it for community review; review can take time, and no specific turnaround is guaranteed.
Do not put game language in the nomination’s title or description. Wayfarer’s submission guidance says not to include usernames, nicknames, or game-specific terms such as “Raid” or “PokéStop.” Describe the place for what it is, not for the gameplay outcome you hope it might produce.
Why an accepted Wayspot may not appear in Pokémon GO
Acceptance and appearance in a particular game are separate outcomes. Pokémon GO’s official guidance cautions that not all accepted nominations become PokéStops or Gyms. An accepted Wayspot may be used in another Scopely Explore game, or it may not appear in Pokémon GO. A successful nomination therefore is not a promise of a new in-game location.

How a PokéStop may become a Gym
There is no official rule in the guidance cited here that lets a trainer choose which PokéStop becomes a Gym. Community Wayfarer discussions describe Pokémon GO’s map placement as influenced by S2 cells: generally, one Wayspot appears as a PokéStop or Gym per Level 17 cell, while the number of Gyms within a Level 14 cell may increase when it contains 2, 6, or 20 occupied Level 17 cells.
These are community-reported observations about game behavior, not official Wayspot eligibility criteria or a dependable way to select a Gym location. The official nomination guidance does not promise which accepted Wayspot will appear in Pokémon GO or how it will be classified. Nominate accurate, eligible places rather than trying to manipulate location data or map placement.

Why players value PokéStops and Gyms
PokéStops and Gyms let players spin Photo Discs to collect items. Pokémon GO’s Help Center says Gyms are more likely to provide battle items such as Potions and Revives. Players also receive bonuses for visiting a Gym controlled by their team or one for which they have a badge.
