Forza Horizon 5 is the best all-around starting pick if you want an arcade racer with an open world, varied activities, and social or custom events. For a festival racer with Hawaiian scenery, consider The Crew Motorfest; for a more focused street-racing campaign with police pursuits, choose Need for Speed Unbound. The right fit depends on whether you want open-world exploration, campaign progression, or a particular mix of race types.
What are the best arcade racing games to play on PC and console?
| Game | Best fit | Platforms listed by the publisher |
|---|---|---|
| Forza Horizon 5 | Open-world festival driving, varied activities, social challenges, and custom events | Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5 |
| The Crew Motorfest | Festival atmosphere with street, off-road, and circuit driving | PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S |
| Need for Speed Unbound | Street-racing campaign with customization and police pursuits | PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S |
These are different kinds of arcade racers rather than interchangeable versions of the same experience. Forza Horizon 5 and The Crew Motorfest center on open-world festival activities, while Need for Speed Unbound emphasizes street racing and campaign progression. Platform availability and editions can vary by region or change; check the current store listing for the version you plan to buy.
Best all-around open-world racer: Forza Horizon 5
Forza Horizon 5 is set in a dynamic version of Mexico, with changing seasons and a broad mix of driving activities. Xbox describes Horizon Arcade as social challenges and EventLab as a way to create races and challenges. That combination makes it a strong first choice if you want to roam between events or try player-created activities rather than stick to one kind of race.
The game is listed for Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. PlayStation’s PS5 listing describes cross-platform play. If accessibility settings matter to your choice, the official information lists options including sign language, game speed, subtitles, color-blindness features, and screen narration. Check the details for your platform edition to confirm which options are available.

Ubisoft’s official game page describes high-speed street racing in Honolulu, off-road routes around volcanoes, and circuit driving. It is listed for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
Ubisoft also reports an ongoing live-game roadmap. That establishes continued planned support, but it does not by itself tell you which activities or updates are currently available. Check the game’s current listing and update information if a particular mode or feature is important to you.

Consider it if you want a defined campaign and police pursuits more than a broad festival world. The publisher’s page also highlights the soundtrack; if that or another specific feature is a deciding factor, check the current edition details for your platform.

How to choose between them
- Pick an activity structure: Forza Horizon 5 and The Crew Motorfest offer open-world festival formats; Need for Speed Unbound is centered on a street-racing campaign. If you mainly want focused track racing, none of these descriptions establishes a track-only experience as the central format.
- Match the setting and race types: Forza Horizon 5 uses a Mexico setting with changing seasons; Motorfest spans Hawaiian street, off-road, and circuit activities; Unbound focuses on street racing in Lakeshore.
- Decide how you want to play: Forza Horizon 5 explicitly supports social challenges and player-created events. For solo progression or a specific mode, inspect the current platform listing and edition rather than assuming every activity suits your preference.
- Confirm platform and edition: The table reflects publisher-listed platforms, not a guarantee of availability for every region, storefront, or edition. Check the relevant store before buying.
- Check price and access at the time you buy: Prices, subscription access, and regional offers can change. Verify them on the store you intend to use.
- Review accessibility details: Forza Horizon 5’s official PlayStation information lists several accessibility options, but availability can depend on platform edition. Check the specific listing for the game you will play.
Where to find more options
If these three do not fit, editorial roundups can help you discover other styles of racing game. GamesRadar+’s 2026 racing roundup ranks Forza Horizon 5 first, while TechRadar’s 2026 guide compares different racing styles. Treat those rankings as each publication’s editorial judgment, not an objective consensus or proof that one game is universally best.
