There is no single best armor for every character in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. How to choose between the leading sets
Choose by armor class and character role
Start with the armor class that fits your character. The guide associates Glass with agile, stealth-oriented play and Daedric with a tougher, strength-focused tank. Amber and Madness are alternatives within those respective classes if you prefer crafting and have access to the required expansion content.
Consider how you want to obtain and customize armor
Glass and Daedric are presented as found sets at Roxey Inn. Amber and Madness require collecting their matching ore and forging the armor; the guide also identifies Amber and Madness Matrices as enchantment options for those sets. If you want a quest-and-crafting route rather than a reported found-item route, the latter two fit that approach.
Account for carrying capacity and armor perks
Bethesda Support says carrying capacity equals five times your Strength, and that Light Armor and Heavy Armor skill perks can reduce the weight of worn armor. Brusef Amelion’s armor

Bethesda Support says Order weapons, armor, and horse armor are obtained through the A Wound in Time quest, while Cataclysm equipment is obtained through Burning Trail. Bethesda’s April 22, 2025 overview says Oblivion Remastered includes the 2009 Game of the Year Edition content, including Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and Horse Pack Armor DLC.
